Cream cheese wontons... there were six

What a fantastic addition to our community! Very fast friendly service. Clean atmosphere. And amazing food. We had the green curry with chicken. It was pleasantly spicy and delicious. We also had drunk noodles with beef. It was slightly smoky and had a really nice flavor. The beef was tender and not full of gristle. We will most certainly be back. We did eat half before I remembered to take photos. The portions were very generous.

Nong's Thai Cuisine consistently delivers incredible flavors and warm service. We stopped in for…read moredinner and were absolutely delighted from start to finish. We began with the Roasted Cashews, which were perfectly seasoned and addictive. For mains, the Red Curry was rich, complex, and comforting, but the star of the show was undoubtedly the Pineapple Fried Rice. Hands down, the best version we have ever had--perfectly balanced sweetness and savory depth. The drink pairings were spot on: I enjoyed a lovely glass of Pinot Noir that complemented the spice beautifully, while my partner had a crisp, cold Sapporo. Nong's is a true gem in Golden Valley for authentic, high-quality Thai food. The service makes you feel like family. Highly recommend!

Nong's is located in kind of a strip mall area, so they share a lot with several other businesses…read more The lot can get busy at times, but I've never had trouble finding a parking spot. The service is friendly. We were greeted shortly after entering. The restaurant was fairly busy, with many others dining in, and many takeout orders coming in as well, but we were seated right away! Several employees checked in on us to make sure we had everything we needed and were enjoying our food throughout our dining experience! They have many vegetarian and gluten free options. They also have some vegan options or items that can be made vegan upon request! We had the cream cheese wontons as an appetizer! The filling was very smooth and creamy and slightly sweet. We also had pad see yew with tofu and pad thai with mock duck. The servings are generous and each entree can easily last for 2 meals. They include a lot of the protein of choice, which I greatly appreciate. Some thai restaurants ask you for your desired level of spice, but we weren't asked here. They were mild (no spice) by default. The pad see ew had a savory, slightly sweet flavor. The noodles were perfectly chewy, and the Chinese broccoli had a nice little crunch. The pad thai had a good balance of sweet, salty, and savory. For dessert we had the mango sticky rice! The mango wasn't particularly ripe, but the coconut milk provided the perfect amount of sweetness. I enjoy Nong's Thai and would recommend it!

We arrived a little after opening time and were seated right away, but it took a little over 45 minutes before our food arrived, which felt quite long considering it wasn't very busy yet. We started with the egg rolls. They were plated nicely and looked appealing when they came out. The rolls themselves were loosely wrapped, which made the wrappers a bit soggy rather than crispy, but the flavor of the filling was actually quite good. We also ordered sticky rice, which unfortunately was not sticky at all. It had more of a regular rice texture. I'm not sure if this is a different preparation style compared to traditional sticky rice I'm used to, but it wasn't what I expected. We also ordered the sticky rice to go with the beef namtok, but it came out with the egg rolls instead of with the entrée, which felt a bit odd timing-wise. The pho boat noodle was the highlight of the meal--9/10. The broth had good depth of flavor and the dish overall was satisfying. One thing that would elevate the experience is having condiments and herbs readily available, such as fresh basil, lime, and bean sprouts served on the side so customers can add them to their preference rather than having them already mixed in. The beef namtok, however, was disappointing--2/10. The flavor profile itself was there, but the beef was very tough and tasted boiled. Traditionally, namtok that I've had is grilled and thinly sliced, which gives it a smoky flavor and more tender texture with the seasoning absorbing into the meat. This version didn't quite deliver that same experience. Overall, the meal wasn't terrible, but there are definitely areas that could be improved. The staff and owner were extremely friendly and welcoming, which we really appreciated. I would also love to see the atmosphere better reflect the style of food being served, as that can really enhance the overall dining experience.
