I was going out of town, so I had to look for someone to do my hair. I found Grace. She was actually able to fit me in the very next day. They did an excellent job; even though the person who was supposed to do my hair had picked out very bad hair. They still used it anyway. I was very grateful. They were very very kind and gentle. They did an outstanding job! The braids were beautiful and on point, I got Boho braids. I'm tender headed, so I was prepared to hurt, but they did not braid my brain. I scheduled an appointment with Celestine B (the owner), online via Yelp for micro-braids on Saturday June 13th at 8 a.m. When I arrived, I was a little worried at first for several reasons, for starters, I work long hours so when I have a day off, the last thing I want to do is sit in a salon all day, therefore my patience is very thin when it comes to waiting. I try to stick with the same beauticians because they get me in and out. Unfortunately, my normal braider was booked 30 days out so I was taking a huge risk by going here. At 0830, I was still waiting on someone to start on my hair. My hair is thick as hell so at this point I felt that I was going to spend my entire Saturday getting my hair braided. At approximately 0840, Grace assured me that the braiders were on the way that two people were going to braid my hair so that I wouldn't be in the shop all day long. Five minutes later, the young ladies arrived and at approximately 11:40 a.m. my hair was done in record time. They even took the time to clip the ends, moisturize & seal the hair as well. I visited earlier today and I absolutely LOVE how my box braids turned out! 5 star , A+. First off, I arrived at 1:30pm for my apt. and had to wait about 1/2 hour to get a chair which I expected, and didn't have a problem with as I didn't have anywhere to be. (In my visits to salons typically have to wait at least 15 mins as there's no surprise apts. can run longer than expected) I got seated with Crystal a little after 2pm. I showed her a picture of the style I wanted, explained the thickness I wanted and we talked about the color of hair to use. I asked about the price to confirm upfront and thought it was really fair/good considering my hair is pretty long (I'm mixed black/Mexican girl,so my hair sits around my chest as is). She started right away after blending the hair color, and I was surprised how fast she braided! In a little over an 1 hour, about 1/2 my hair was done! She anticipated 3 -4 hours, but with her speed it was a good sign I wouldn't be there all afternoon. :) She finished right before 5pm. (Started really at 2:30pm) so in about 2.5 hours, BOOM she was done! My hair looks BOMB! Very happy with how it turned out and I will be back! I left a tip on top of the total, and they charge a 4% card fee, but I wasn't mad at it. Thank you Crystal! I'd love for you to do my hair again! I went into the shop to have crochet's done. Due to the fact that I hardly have any hair, especially towards the front of my head, I was skeptical that Grace wouldn't be able to grip it, but surprisingly she was. Hat's off to her for that. As she was braiding my hair I was hoping she would at least oil my scalp (that's what other shops would do when I would get microbraids) but whatever. My problem began when Grace told me that she wasn't able to use the hair that I brought in with me "because the hole was too small". She tells me to go next door to purchase some different hair. 7-8 packs of hair - totaling $78, "an unplanned purchase, from the most rudest Beauty Supply. Mind you, the hair that I had originally brought in was 10 inch hair, that beauty supply only had 12 inch hair". At that point I should have just paid her for braiding my hair and went somewhere else and had my crochet installed. Talking about livid, but okay let me just get this over with. She crochet them in and they looked average. Still no spray and/or moose on my crochet. Just Payment and Thanks. I get home and really take a look at my hair, now I can't complain because of how my edges look, (they are really thin, but I was able to lay them down) no problem there. My problem is the braid were much longer, meaning more heavier than I had expected. So I texted Grace to see if she would cut the crochets down. She agreed and told me to come back at 5:30pm. I show up, she tell me to sit down, cut one string, saw that the braid wouldn't unravel and all I heard was 4-5 scissor snaps (whatever the scissor sounds make) and she went back to finish the lady hair that she was braiding before I walked in. Didn't seem like she cared how the cut turned out, all of 1 1/2 - 2 minutes. All I could do was shake my head. I would love to go back to her, simply because she was one of the few that could grip my short hair, but that buying extra hair and her seemingly attitude because I asked her to cut my hair will cause me to look around and visit different shops next time. Like most people say, her energy is great, she talks about God and his Goodness, but her Customer Service is shabby and iffy. read more

I tried this place for the first time today. I have been getting my hair braided since I was a kid so I consider myself an expert when it comes to braids and braiding salons. I reached out to the owner via yelp and she was VERY responsive to my messages. She was polite and extremely professional. I ended up getting box braids and I was prepared for the usual 4-6 hrs to get them done. Once I arrived it was easy for the ladies to get started. They began my hair at 9:27 and I left the salon at 11:17. Yep I looked at my watch on purpose because I wanted to see how long it would take. While leaving Atlanta, I was on a whim and decided I wanted to get my hair braided. I called two shops prior to Ms. Grace but her kind spirit over the phone led me to commit to her salon. I appreciated the fact that she includes the hair in her prices. Upon arrival, I was pleased to see I was the only client. I had three women working on my hair and they knocked down my box braids in three hours. Crazy!! I also appreciated the fact that Ms. Grace mentors the other women and cares about your hair. She includes sample sizes of braids / twists and will not commit to the braids until client and stylist agree the size is proper. If and when I am ready for more braids, I'll definitely be coming here! This is probably the first positive experience I've had at a braiding salon in a long time. read more

After reading a few reviews on Yelp I decided to try Grace's Shop. Overall, I am happy with the outcome. I called the day before and was able to schedule an appointment for the next day. When I arrived it was a full shop but I did like the fact that I was able to get put into a chair right away. I will admit it took more than 30 minutes for them to get started but considering how busy it was I was okay with the adjustments they attempted to make to get me started on time I started with one woman who I actually enjoyed but I think she was a little heavy handed for my head. Based off the look on my face Grace must have caught wind that I may have been discomforted. She immediately pulled the woman I. Such a way that it didn't make a sense and gave me someone else. As the second person begin it was smooth sailing. Once a third woman finished the head she was doing she came over to assist on my head. All in all I had two ladies maybe 50% of the time which wasn't bad at all. It took about 4 1/2 hours total to complete including the 30 minutes I waited in the chair. I'm happy with the time frame. Areas of opportunity for this shop. While I can say Grace seems like a wonderful woman and it's clear she is running a shop where she wants to be customer focused there are a few areas that I think could use a little TLC. 1. Cleanliness: The shop was quite cluttered and it didn't appear cleaning happen through out the day which means by 1pm (my arrival time) there was a lot of hair on the floor. 2. Sanitization: The cape that was put on me was the same cape taken off another woman right before my eyes. In addition I believe the comb used to part my hair was used on another customer. Lastly, I noticed that workers were going from one head to another without washing their hands. All of these actions are highly concerning for safety reasons considering they were not washing anyone's hair, even so.... each customer should have clean tools and the workers should wash there hands going between heads. This is my reason for 4 stars instead of 5. However, I think all of these are simple fixes with a little training. I still would recommend this spot. I believe Grace is a honest woman trying to provide honest services! I would go back and try them again. read more

This was the 2nd time that I visited & I always leave pleased. The owner, Ms. Grace, is always very pleasant. I had 2 braiders for my microbraids. One was a little more heavy handed than the other but she responded when I asked her to go lighter. It took about 6 hours to complete but I hv very thick natural hair. The ladies gave me tips about caring for my braids & discussed color choices with me. The prices are also reasonable. My only advice would be to bring your headphones or a book to help the time pass. My husband went here to have his natural hair braided I was texted by "Grace" who said that she was available Wednesday at 9am and she quoted me $75 total for the shampoo and conditioning and the style I chose, upon arriving at 9am Grace wasn't there and the phone kept going to vm, at 9:15 one lady arrived saying she was Graces daughter and Grace was out of town and wouldn't return till Friday and she was gonna do my husbands hair.. we showed her the pic and she said she couldn't do the style but her sister would be there in 5 mins... long story short the lady didn't arrive till almost 10am and she complained about shampooing and conditioning his hair along with trying to charge $80 for just the style. I've taken my daughter (9yo) here twice for summer box braids. My daughter has healthy 4c hair she stated it wasn't too tight while they were braiding and only complaint about I being tight once and was playing in her braids 2days post install. she also went back 6weeks later for a touch up all went well. I went to get a crochet base done I have a very soft 4d hair my edges on one side was braided too tightly and of course pulled out. But I blame myself I usually don't let people braid my edges they too fine. I won't return for myself but I will continue to take my daughter. read more

As an update it has been not even a week and I desperately want to take these braids down. They are unraveling at the base and my hair is shoulder length... She used all this brown gel and spritz so now I have brown crunchy stuff on my scalp. She half ass dipped my hair so it never relaxed.. Ugh! Not happy and wasted my money for a style I didn't ask for. She didn't style it she threw some corn rows and dipped the very ends.. Don't waste your time or money truthfully.
