I needed an uneven and sinking driveway replaced in San Francisco and contacted several companies through Yelp. Pavers Express responded and we made an appointment with a project manager to visit the property. Good experience so far... This is where it got frustrating. The project manager showed up an hour late and took measurements. He promised a quote the same day. Never heard from them again! If they would have told me, they don't want to quote the project that would have been totally fine. Not a good experience overall.

Felix and his capable crew leveled our yard, put in the gopher wire, and still aligned it with its natural drainage. It's exactly what we wanted. He replaced my janky sprinklers with his own better design and it has kept our lawn lush and perfect! Initially we considered much more extensive work such as concrete retaining walls that would require engineering calculations and patio reformations etc. Felix was honest and stated that's not his gig. When we found out that price tag was ten times what we thought we could afford, Felix had no hard feelings and came right back to do our lawn, solid border, and wonderful gravel work. I would work/hire Felix and his crews again for sure!

Most recently, he and his crew pulled out our front lawn, putting down mulch along with building a tremendous new front fence and gate. He had many helpful ideas to make our vision even better. He is on-time, on budget and faultlessly honest. We have recommended Emilio to neighbors for landscape and hardscape work and they have been as pleased as we were. We value his partnership and most highly recommend him and his crew for your project.

We also had conflicts in our schedule and they were able to push back our job a bit and work with us. The workers were there on time everyday, did good work, and were courteous and professional. I told Pablo we would not start this job 2-4 months so I felt uncomfortable paying the deposit so early but he insisted. Pablo reassured me that for any reason we do not do the work, he would come and do a $1,000.00 worth of work, so I have nothing to worry about. When agreed to sign the contract Elite pavers. At the same time, they were also doing a big job at my Daughters house. that job was a mess. Total lack of supervision, the crew was taking lemons off of the tree and throwing them at each, crew sleeping in wheel barrels, cut concrete not using water creating dust onto the neighbors yard causing issues with neighbors, the bobcat was unloaded upside down and took over an hour to flip it back, didn't level the yard before compacting baserock.... I can go on & on. They kept making mistakes that my son in law would catch, just poor quality work. After seeing this work I decided not to proceed with having elite pavers do my driveway. So i asked for Pablo do a small repair in our back yard worth $1000 to atleast make use of the deposit I paid. When asked to do that repair, Pablo said our min job is $4,500.00. I reminded Pablo of our agreement and he said well you signed the contract. After a while, he refused to do work for me and also refused to return my deposit. After months of going back and forth he finally returned the $1000 but it came with very unprofessional text messages. Pablo is 20 years old, very young and a lot to learn but is definitely being controlled by his "boss" Fernando. Every time Fernando showed up at my daughter's job, that's when corners were cut and mistakes happened. This company seems very scammy and I would not trust this company to do work for you.

But when complete, the finished turned out really bad, major water spots everywhere and the finish looks like a bad case of face scarred acne with a horizontal crack running the middlte of it. I wish they would have just come over after the pour and not have left me to handel it ,since I'm recovering from a broken back ( car accident). "I should have done my reserach better"! Me being a master carpenter and lic (GEN Contractor) my self, I never seen work like this. Too fkin bad! 8500k is a lot of mony to waste!!!! we just wanted a nice driveway!

While I was only asking for the driveway drainage issue to be addressed, his crew fixed several other items over a two day period (damaged stucco, drainage pit for mini split unit to name a few). Taynara Melo, project manager on my project, and her crew, no longer work for Martin Pavers. Taynara and her husband Fernando Moreira have started their own company based in Concord. Anyone reading this review and looking at/deciding on a potential paver company for a project should be very careful of Elite Pavers. Had my initial interactions with Martin Pavers been only with Taynara, I would not have moved forward with this project. The drainage was not working, I had to call them back to redo for 3 times (while it's really hard to get them back). The retaining wall was built totally wrong ! Even I as someone knows nothing about paver noticed they just put the bricks together and did not do anything at the back, I questioned while they were doing it that there should be drainage and on the back there should be some treatment, but Luis said that was the way they build. After 1st raining season, the water, mud came all from the retaining wall and they look really terrible, the mud and water stayed on my backyard pavers since the spot drainage can not catch them! I'm working with other contracts this year to fix the retain wall Martin Pavers did, and surprised to see it (Martin Paver) is still in the market !! I am very pleased with the installation of pavers for my side and back yards by The Paver Guys…read more(TPG). 1200 sq ft of 50 year old concrete needed to go. 3 bids received, and I selected TPG based upon reviews, the best price, and warranted work. They showed up on Friday and finished on the following Wednesday. Very hard workers. They kept the work site orderly. Always had a crew foreman on-site and I also met with the project manager daily. I now have proper drainage in my yard which was not thought of when my house was built in the 60's. Yes, this type of job makes your yard a construction zone (tracked dirt, stacks of pavers, piles of gravel, cement dust) for a few days but the end product is so worth it. A beautiful result. My back yard is now a place I can look forward to using. All around, a great group of people to work with. I highly recommend them.

If you only read one sentence of my review it should be this: Stay far away from the Paver Guys…read more Spare yourself the aggravation, the headaches, the poor quality, and your weekends fixing the crap the Paver Guys create and stand by. Your project will be an absolute headache from beginning to end. James G's review from 8/4/2021 was exactly like our experience. Instead of doing things the right way, Brian took shortcut after shortcut to cut costs and was never around while his foreman made one dumb decision after another with our project. For most of the project, I was doing quality control for Brian and texting him when his contractors were screwing up. Brian will promise you everything you want to get the deal, but then he'll barely be around to oversee the project and his clueless forman will run the show. Here are some of the highlights (see pictures as evidence): 1. We asked for a specific fire pit during the quoting process with a link and picture of the brand and size, included it in our permit, and communicated with brian via text. At no point during the build did Brian tell us we weren't getting what we asked for. He came up with a pathetic cheap, and unsafe solution. We asked him to fix it repeatedly and had to threaten to take him to small claims court, and threatened to report him to the BBB. This is the type of person Brian is. He wasn't upfront with us about what he was doing and tried to hide his pathetic firepit solution that we didn't want. We ended up settling for the size he delivered and I had to redesign the burner support system and pay for it myself just so i didn't have to deal with Brian again. 2. Project started over a month late, Brian blamed it on the rain even though it rained once between when we signed the contract and our supposed start date. 3 We repeatedly asked Brian prior to the project start to ensure all dirt and debris from the demo was hauled away and not dispersed in our yard. Brian of course dispersed concrete chunks in our yard. 4. No porta potty provided for his workers. (where did they go to the bathroom). Cost cutting measure i'm sure. 5. We had a plumber lined up to do all plumbing work like removing 2 cleanouts from the side of our house. Brian said he could do it, and then offered up a horrible solution to hide our cleanouts we wanted to remove. As an engineer i couldn't let it slide and i had to do the plumbing myself. Brian wanted to cut the cleanout branch off and glue an ill fitting "blank" on and jam a paver against it to secure it. This is not even remotely close to how a cleanout should be removed. I spent 2 nights of my personal time doing the plumbing for the project. 6. They broke my sprinkler manifold after repeatedly being warned to protect the pipes / manifolds. Brian refused to fix it because "it was in bad shape" . So I had to spend the weekend doing it myself. 7. Foreman tried to convince me that it was ok to Build the patio without removing a 4" x 6' concretre pad that was found 3 inches under the soil. I had to call Brian and inform him and tell the foreman why this would cause uneven settling of the patio 7. They didn't use a wet saw to cut the pavers and covered our trees, house, etc... with dust. Never cleaned it up. 8. During the 2nd and 3rd redo of our firepit (yes they had to rebuild our firepit 3 times) they drilled and cracked the topper stones on our fire pit. They replaced them and used cardboard to shim pavers in our firepit. Yes, CARDBOARD IN A FIREPIT was deemed ok by the forme 9. The workers locked the burner valve to our firepit in concrete pavers so that it if the valve failed we would have to chip out the pavers to replace the valve. Again, if he used the fire pit kit we asked for it would have been installed correctly and easily serviceable. 10. After Brian told me he didn't need me to manage his project his workers built a section of our patio to the wrong size, which Brian of course didn't catch so I had to point it out to him so they could fix it. 11. One month after "project completion" the polymeric sand collapsed into the cracks between our pavers. This was caused by Brian and his team rushing to finish the job and not taking the time to actually fill the gaps properly. Instead of Brian sending someone out to fix it, HE TOLD ME HOW TO FIX IT. After calling him out on that and the numerous other issues he sent someone out to fix the polymeric sand issues. They of course used the wrong color polymeric sand, lol. 11. Brian convinced my wife that a whistling firepit was normal and told us he used non-whistling tubing and we should just keep it on low. After inspection he didn't use non-whistling tubing eventhough he said he did. He took final payment from my wife fully knowing he didn't deliver what we asked for without telling us, and delivered an inferior quality fire pit. I have had to redo all the tubing on the firepit to prevent it from whistling.
