Had some of the BBQ I've ever had outside of Texas at @gquebbq ! I can see why they call themselves the champs because everything really was top notch! We tried a little bit of everything on the menu and nothing went home with us. Devoured everything it was that good!! Their cheese sauce was heavenly and I requested the fatty brisket to which they delivered a mountain of!! We both got the Meltdown - brisket with onion rings and cheese. It's a mess to eat - that's for sure. Definitely not a date order! We thought it was okay - but nothing great. The brisket was a tad dry. I got the garlic mashed (sans gravy) and I liked it, but my husband got the kettle chips and I couldn't get over how bland/dry they were. Great food. This is one of my favorite takeout food places. Their brisket and pulled pork are phenomenal.

Ok. First visit and I may be hooked. The ribs were smoky and fall off the bone. Nicely seasoned, and the sauces were tangy , yet sweet. ( not sticky super sweet). The beans were good, but definitely took a supporting role to the ribs. I only wish they had a plate meal that included a meat and 2 sides. I'll be back. read more

BBQ is better than 90% of the pretenders out there. Fun to try different BBQ restaurants as it can be subjective. Having worked in KC. Austin TX, Memphis TN & Clemson SC, I appreciate and enjoy many different styles of BBQ. GQue is TX BBQ and the dry rub on the brisket is good. I've been here 3 or 4 times and I have to say I'm a fan (fan is short for fanatic). The brisket has amazing flavor and has always been delicious. The sauce pairs well with the 'que. I'm from the south and always say that a legit bbq place must have sweet tea, and GQue can certainly check that box. Nothing better than a devouring a brisket sammy with mac and washing it down with sweet tea. This place is my go-to bbq place near work and I'll look forward to trying other things on the menu. We've had GQue twice during covid (pick up and Grubhub delivery) and each have been good experiences. We're from Texas so our BBQ standards are a bit different (in other words, all cow). This place seems like to skews more Carolina or KC style bbq which is tasty. Their ribs are super tender - I've ordered a them both times and each was fantastic. Their brisket was a bit tough for my taste so I don't know I'd try it again. Mac and cheese was alright too. Their onion rings- AMAZING! Seriously. So so good. Really wish they'd offer jalapeños and/or cherry peppers with their onions but that's the Texan in me! read more

I am always a big fan of BBQ, so it was refreshing to see that the Denver area had a variety of options. After braving a cold hike in Rocky Mountain National Park (for which I was underdressed), I was looking for some comfort food that reminded me of home. And with a perfect excuse to try another BBQ restaurant, my cousin took me to GQue. I knew this would be a good option for lunch when I saw the awards this place has won in barbecue competitions. I had to manually order every item to assemble a meal similar to what's offered at other places, but it cost me about the same as if the menu organized combos. I was happy with the sweetness of the tea and the tastes of the pulled pork and beans. The sauce options were solid (one was spicy but tasted a little sweet, the other tangy) but weren't my preference of style (it's hard to find Alabama white sauce outside AL). The mac and cheese was delicious, everything you want in that. My meal filled me as much as I felt it should and made me happy that I chose a local option instead of a chain from home. If I lived in Denver, I would definitely visit on a regular basis. I give 4 stars instead of 5 based on my options back home, but this place does do well for being out of the south (and the first BBQ joint my cousin would like to revisit in CO). Upon entering GQue you'll likely have to stand in line to place your order, STAND IN LINE, it's worth it! The menu is plastered on the wall in front of you for you to make your decision before reaching the counter. If you're like me youll want to try everything and you'll probably have left over BBQ for a couple of days! I ordered 1 pound of pulled pork, 4 jalapeno cheddar sausage links, a half rack of pork ribs, smoked baked beans and fries. This was a massive amount of food. I ordered to go so I didn't get the full dining experience but what I can tell you, is that I noticed that this place was incredibly clean! They seriously are pulling out all the stops to ensure they are utilizing a high level of sanitation practices before your food reaches your table. Every single person that touches your plate is wearing gloves and the manager seemed to be very involved and even expoing orders out of the window. Now for the food so freaking good! The rib meat literally falls off the bone the pork was delicious and the jalapeno sausage was amazing and seriously spicy! I wouldn't order the fries again and they do use styrofoam (boo) containers so I'm not sure if their fries are naturally limp or if it was from the condensation from the container but they seemed to be fresh cut. The beans were great with a smokey BBQ flavor. They offer two sauces to pick from Tangy and Spicy and both are great! What I like about their food is that they don't slather on sauce so you can really appreciate the smokiness and juices that come together. My favorite thing to get is the brisket. It melts in your mouth and is so tender. What is even better than the food is the service. I feel that a lot of restaurants, with great food, often time lack great service now more than ever.
