After moving to our home (new to us but built in 1978) we learned from a chimney sweep that our…read morefireplace was not only incorrectly converted to gas but was constructed in such a way that it would have never worked correctly as a wood burning fireplace. Which is probably why the original owners attempted to convert it to gas. We wanted wood, not gas, and we wanted to get the 26% federal income tax credit. So we visited A Fireplace Store and More and spoke to the woman working there. She set up a date for Rony to come out and give us an estimate. Rony showed up on time and we settled on a modern high efficiency biomass fireplace insert that qualifies for the credit. Parts and labor was not cheap, but we wanted a quality appliance and this business has decades of experience, which we also wanted. We put down a deposit and set the installation day, which was today. Rony and his team showed up on time, worked quickly, did good quality work and cleaned up afterwards. Rony explained how to use the new fireplace and was all done in a matter of 3-4 hours. Very happy with our purchase and service and we can't wait until we can use it this winter.

We got the inspection scheduled just as fast. On the day of the inspection, Chris called me to keep me updated throughout the day. The only thing I would slightly ding them for is that they arrived pretty much at the end of the appointment window. However, Chris kept me updated on his status. As promised, he sent me the photos, inspection report and the quote for suggested repairs the next morning. All around pleased with the experience! The team at Capital Chimney was quick, responsive and did the job. Recommend if you're looking for inspections!

(630) 923-8000 www.ChicagoChimney.com Reading the negative reviews about the company gives me pause, respectfully, to ask if those reviewers have the correct firm as I have had nothing but positive interactions. There are multiple businesses with similar names. Sean and his team were nothing but respectful and polite throughout. They were professional and thorough in their assessment and they offered multiple on-site days to make repairs and clean. We worked with them ahead of time to schedule residents' fireplace cleaning and they were on-time throughout the day. They made special accommodations to work with each home based upon their needs and schedules. They even offered follow-up services if warranted. Special thanks to Pedro and Priscilla for their attention to detail and care for our home. They laid out a mat to protect our hard wood floors and were very careful bringing in their equipment. Honestly, if I could give them more stars I would. They really are that good! Sincerely, Patrick Shaughnessy Chicago, IL

When Chicago Fireplace & Chimney did $5,200 worth of work on my chimney in 2021, I was very happy…read morewith the results. The installation looked solid, and at the time I felt confident recommending them. Unfortunately, my experience since then has been completely different. In June 2025, smoke began backing up into my home. I reached out to CFC saying: "It appears that a bird made my chimney her home. I believe they are gone now, but my house fills with smoke when the flue is open." At first, Sean replied with some questions, but after that communication fell apart. I sent multiple emails (June 13, June 28, and July 23) without any reply. When I finally heard back in August, I gave all the details he asked for along with my address and phone number. We scheduled an appointment for August 8, but no one showed. I got a last-minute message saying they might not make it and to "keep in touch." Then on August 20, I received another text apologizing, saying they were stuck on a big job and might come "tomorrow late afternoon (no guarantee)" or "sometime next week." Once again, there was no follow-up. After repeated no-shows, excuses, and silence, I had no choice but to take my business elsewhere. This was a serious safety issue with smoke entering my home, and the lack of professionalism was unacceptable. I wish I could rate them only on the quality of the original work, but after this experience I can't recommend them.
