This bed and breakfast hotel is amazing, not only it is located within a few miles of many places…read morein Vermont it is also located in a paradise within the amazing mountains of Vermont. First time staying here and I enjoyed my stay, the rooms are cozy and good size to give you space and comfort. The one thing I did not like and ONLY thing I didn't like was there is no air conditioning in the rooms so during summer months or cold winter months witch they get a lot up there it can get warm in the rooms specially if you leave your door closed and locked. I really like this place, the dinning area is amazing with a piano and a nice long table and a view of there back yard witch is also very nice. They have a movie theater yes you can watch movies here or enjoy popcorn/candy and watch whatever movies they offer. The pool is heated so you won get cold and freeze and also they size of the pool is pretty big for a bed and breakfast place, they have a jacuzzi and a bar with beer and a tv. Pretty much everything you want and need is here in a beautiful area of Vermont in the mountains not to far from the capital of Vermont (Montpellier) or Vermont's biggest city (Burlington) only a 45 minute drive thru the mountains. Great place to stay while in Vermont specially if you are coming here during the winter months for skiing. Big kitchen is also here but for use for private party's and weddings witch they also do a lot here. Rooms have mini fridge with silver wear and plates also a sink and some have a couch and table and a balcony with a view of the center garden area. It can get noisy if you choose the rooms closer to the entrance, early in the morning you can hear dump trucks and construction people, if you have money to spend stay in the other side with plenty of rooms up stairs and even your own private kitchen witch is mainly rented out to big family's or party's. This place looks small from the outside but when you walk in you will be amazed, the no ac in the rooms did not bother me much because they do have portable heaters/fans that can cool Off your room or warm it up so I still give this business five + stars. I absolutely love this place.

I can not say enough about how much my girlfriend and I enjoyed staying at this bed and breakfast…read more It was a lot more cozier and cleaner than any top notch hotel I have ever stayed at. My girlfriend and I arrived at about 7pm at night and were greeted at the front door by Rick, one of the owners. He assisted us in carrying our bags to our room and then gave us a nice tour of the place. This house was HUGEEEEE and has something to do for every person in the family. Rick first took us to their indoor swimming pool/hot tub. The pool and hot tub had covers on it to avoid the temperature of the water from dropping too far and from also getting too dirty. There was also a treadmill in there which we could use if we wanted. He then took us up their beautiful staircase to their movie theater. The theater was very nice and personal and he had a good selection of movies to choose from. They also had their own popcorn machine and candy to munch on while enjoying a movie. Then he showed us their dining hall where we were to have breakfast every morning and asked us what time we were planning on having breakfast. Then he wished us a good night and let us on our merry way. We went back to the room to wash up and get ourselves situated and my girlfriend could not stop talking about how nice our room was. We stayed in the Red Maple Suite and my gosh the room was amazing. We had a queen size bed, our own TV, our own bathroom, sink, mini fridge, microwave, balcony, table, couch, coffee pot and iron. That is one of the GREAT THINGS about the Maple House INN. Each room has its own bathroom with shower or tub along with a good sized bed and mini fridge/small kitchen. Each room also has its own personal temperature control. We were able to control the temperature of our room without affecting any of the other rooms. They even had HEATED FLOORS!!! The mini fridge had some small waters in it which we found to be very thoughtful and considerate of them to put them there for their guests. When we woke up the next morning, we went down to the dining hall and met with Rick and Lynn. They asked us what we wanted for breakfast, and us not being very picky eaters, told them to surprise us. Rick made some delicious french toast, served with orange juice, tea, a bowl of fruit, and of course, maple syrup. That was by far some of the best french toast I have ever had. Their two pets, Charlie (dog) and Opie (cat), were there also to greet us. They were some of the cutest and most behaved pets I had ever seen. Over the course of our 3 day stay, we were served eggs benedict (which was damn good), french toast, and a cream cheese filled french toast for breakfast. All came with a bowl of different fruit and choice of drink (juice, water, tea, coffee). We also watched a movie in the movie theater and Rick was kind enough to pop up some fresh popcorn. Rick told us that if we wanted to watch another movie at another time, then to just let him know and he would play it for us. We also used the hot tub and swimming pool every day. The cover was not much work to take off, simply crank and roll the pool cover off. The hot tub cover was easy to take off and replace. Rick and Lynn were some of the nicest people we had ever met and really felt welcome staying at their place. My girlfriend and I had an amazing time and are looking forward to coming back and staying at their place again! HIGHLY RECOMMEND STAYING HERE!!!

The staff was warm and friendly. I only have one criticism. While the A/C was working, we had difficulty regulating it to feel comfortable. It was rather cold and clammy at night, but by morning, we felt fine. It wasn't so much the cold part that bothered me, but the clammy part was what got to me. Everyone kept saying how unseasonably hot and humid it was for Stowe, so who knows... maybe the A/C just had difficulty regulating itself... or we didn't know how to use it properly. It wasn't bad, per se, but it was a little uncomfortable some of the time. The room overall, though, was really great. Also, we loved that they had Netflix and Amazon Prime, so we could settle into the shows we were missing while traveling. That was a nice surprise ! Most hotels don't offer any of that. We had planned to dine out at one of the local restaurants, but we found out they were serving dinner at Grant's, the inn's restaurant. We were tired after traveling around all day, so we stayed at the inn and ate a great meal at Grant's. (See separate review for that.) Also, the common areas in the main building next to the restaurant are very tastefully appointed, spacious, with lots of games, books and sitting areas for people to utilize. We walked around them to see what there was but returned to our room to relax and watch some of our shows. My only regret was that we couldn't stay longer. One night in Stowe just isn't enough, especially at the Stowe Village Inn. Let's hope there will be a next time !

The atmosphere is classy and casual with friendly hosts and severs who take time to answer menu questions and be sure you have what you would like. With a full bar, vast wine and beer list featuring local selections, and a variety of non-alcoholic beverage options, there is something for everyone. Our meal began with a flavor packed broth soup, featuring lemon, parsley, chicken and rice. The hearty portion was perfect for 3 to share. Next came the salads: baby greens with pickled onions and homemade vinaigrette, and rubbed kale with cranberries and nuts. Delicious! The swordfish main is crafted with an amazing balance of sweet blueberry sauce and a touch of cayenne to make the flavors pop. The chicken dish featured a tasty glaze and features grilled lemon, a surprise twist. Both mains were served with a veggie side and atop smashed potatoes- creamy and flavorful, and with lots of texture. Dinner was capped by the featured dessert, blueberry lemon panna cotta. So smooth, creamy, and heavenly! Just the right amount of citrusy syrup to complement the richness. Gather features fresh and local ingredients. This family owned and run restaurant is one of many endeavors Lisa and Jonathan Burr have successfully fully created. You will not be disappointed with your Gather dining experience!

And a pack it up so well for you so you can totally eat it on your way up to the mountain. The absolute peak of this entire trip was the hot tub is at the northern lights lodge. Surprisingly it was rarely occupied we barely had to wait except for one time we may be waited 20 minutes for a group to leave because it's a pretty small hot tub and we were four people trying to go together The hot tub is also open from 8 AM to 10 PM great for a pre-post ski session. We headed downstairs to the bar lounge where we'd be having dinner. Brenda, our server and bartender, was super sweet and helpful. I got a glühwein to warm up and my dining partner got a hot toddy cider with I think Fireball (because it tasted like when I make it that way). We ordered the cheeseburger and fried chicken sandwiches and split them so we could each try them. Both were fantastic. The copious side of fries were perfectly cooked and crispy; the chicken was flavorful, perfectly crispy on the outside and moist and tender on the inside. The cheeseburger was absolutely perfect. We decided to forgo a dessert, but they had a couple appetizing choices. Both Brenda and the gentleman who ran out our food were super welcoming and hospitable. The ambience is very charming. Yes, as others have said, the decor is a bit retro, but it was very clean and tidy. I can imagine what a spectacular venue it had to be in the 70s. It's still a pretty cool place today. It's now high on my list for après ski.

We order breakfast to go as we had a dog and enjoyed it out on the Adirondack chairs. The room, was very fun! A little outdated but it's Vermont! It had a certain chair that I loved. The building is beautiful with the original wood and trees. All of the little nooks and fireplaces are so fun and cozy. We did have a dog and felt very safe and comfortable and wanted there which was huge. The backyard was a perfect spot for our pup to run and play before we headed to the mountain. They do put all the dogs in one section on one separate floor so if you don't have a dog they aren't around you wish is nice. The breakfast was amazing! So amazing we got it both days. Highly highly suggest the breakfast sandwich and the hash brown. We got it to go as we were getting ready to ski and had a dog. Service at breakfast was great. Dinner was also very good. We had the Fried Testa appetizer special and it was delicious... the sauce that went with it was absolutely amazing. I had the mushroom cavatelli. The menu is limited but different and delicious! Service at dinner was a little strange as our server switched to the bartender and we were told that the kitchen was closing pretty early. We sat for a 7pm reservation, it may also have been a covid related regulation. All in all... can't wait to go back again!

I know it was October, the end of the season. but I still expected the cabin to be clean. The bathroom mirror was a mess and the baseboard had a season's worth of hair and dust from other guests. There were unwashed coffee cups and a big smear on the picture window. It was disappointin. Breakfasts were tolerable, melon the best part. Under the prior ownership, the lodge cooked custom breakfasts with the best muffins ever (fond memories of French puff and raspberry muffins), not a lukewarm buffet. We had dinner for 6 there one night and it was a debacle. Service could not have been worse. One fellow ordered an appetizer as his main course and it was dellivered to the center of the table for people to share. Plates came out at random so some people ate while others waited. One friend and I waited more than a hour while everyone else finished their dinners. We finally got our two dinners as one of our party finished his dessert. The timing was the worst I've ever experienced. The waitress was incompetent and had to be reminded to bring anything we needed. The dining experience was so wretched that I don't even remember the food.
