This is by far the best burger I've ever had... till date. The location and patio seating is perfect to crowd watch while you enjoy your pint. I had Habanero Chicken, hot habanero jam, mozzarella cheese, jalepenos, baconnaise, paprika onions, rocket, pickled onion. You can have it either grilled or fried. We stopped in for lunch today. Since we arrived right at noon when they opened we were sat right away. We opted for outside since it was nice out (but sadly didn't realize we were opting for a smoking section by doing that - so word to the wise for that). Our waiter came to get our order very quickly which was great. My girls opted for a smaller cheeseburger, fries and Oreo shake and the other a bacon cheeseburger and fries. We ordered a tower of onion rings to share. My hubby got the blue cheese burger and a lager, and I got the bacon cheeseburger and a cider. The food all came out quickly and it all tasted amazing. I think GBK is exactly how you imagine it to be. It's grand. The food is good - not amazing, not bad, but it's grand. Big burgers with lots of toppings and a potential for lock jaw if you try to wrap your mouth around all of it at the same time..! It's pretty good value and they have a lot of choice - also bonus. Service is good. Again, nothing to write home about, but this can come from working in chains, where the staff aren't totally on board with the mission, but they're doing their job, so nothing wrong with that either! One cool thing about this place is the location - being on South William St, it's great for people watching and general vibes. What a concept...really cool place. I really wanted to give it 4 stars but I just can't. I was really excited to see that they have other sort of burgers besides beef (I don't like beef) and they were not just on the menu as an afterthought. There was lamb, either fried or grilled chicken, and I think a veggie option as well. First of all, I was a bit surprised that this was a sit down restaurant (with a waiter and everything). It did not look like a cheap fast food joint but more of a good food fast place where you order at the counter. O well, no big deal. I got a fried chicken sandwich with avocado and bacon...it was huge! Then I had fries with rosemary and sea salt. I ordered garlic mayo (was extra) to go with it. I love that they have a bunch of different choices to dip your fries in. The tast was really good, but I would have liked it if the fried were a bit crispier. I also had a peanut milkshake to go with everything. The thing was huge and served right in the metal blending thing. The shake was good but I was a bit disappointed because I thought it could have been a bit more flavorful. I could not even come close to finishing everything it was so much food. Even tough there were some bad points, I really want to like this place and would certainly go back and try it again. While it is not "expensive" per se I ended up paying €19 for my meal. read more

There is something innovative in incorporating an onion ring in the burger. If you like smoked chilli mayo and cheese, go for the it. Another good choice is the Cheese Bites, they are what they are supposed to be... cheesy. They are not too heavy so there is always space after them for something else. The Homemade onion rings are good with the garlic sauce but those Rosemary fries, I am not very convinced. I love rosemary. It is a very aromatic herb, a bit like mustard and a bit bitter. I missed all that plus the fries were dried. I know that they are only fries but the details count. read more

Disgraceful service from the staff members we dealt with. Came as a group of 11, and the waitress asked one of our members to sit on their own at a different table as there was no room. We made room. Once the bill arrived, we asked for it to be split, to which we were told it couldn't be done. We then asked if those who had card could pay separately, to which they could, and the remainder had to be paid by cash. We were not informed before ordering that we had to request the deals presented on giant posters around the shop for a starter and a main for €14.95, and student deals, so we were refused those too once we were paying. They also told us that we owed more than we did once the card payments had been made, and refused to accept that they had counted the remaining payment incorrectly until we had to count it up for them. The three members of staff spent the remainder of the time we were there making rude comments about us and talking about us loudly beside the till. Incredibly rude and uncomfortable behaviour presented by the staff towards us, and for this none of us will not be returning. read more

Last night was my fourth visit to GBK, and I probably won't go back. The first time I went it was great, the second and third times it was ok, and last night, I left disappointed. The hamburgers have all the potential in the world to be really good, but they are over-cooked and dry. That, coupled with an enormous bun, makes eating difficult. Have been here a few times in the last year working nearby it was always a great place to grab something quick and relatively cheap for that part of Dublin But was recently there last week and availed of the lunch deal of chicken wings and a burger for a tenner and the drink for an extra 2 quid was a no brainer Having tried every burger on the menu bar the veggie one I decided to give it a go and was pleasantly surprised by the outcome. It contained two of my favourite vegetables sweet potato and butternut squash combined with a panko crust it truly was divine. One fault I would have is that they tend to put too much mayo on the burger. The more I think about it, and the more I look at the menu and what I was supposed to get with my burger, the more disappointed I am. My Puy Lentil (veggie) Burger did not taste at all of green curry or spring onion, but a lot like undercooked lentils. The 'salad' on top was just a massive piece of lettuce, thin tomato and too much red onion. I'm also not a fan of the buns that they used, but I think thats more of a personal preference (have options?). However big does not necessarily equal great. the burger was okay, nothing spectacular. At first I was going to give them four stars but the fries were terrible. It could just be the batch that was served up to me. They also have three options of fries, one of which is Hei Hei fries. According to the menu they come with a seasoning which made me think they were made with it. Four of us ate here on Friday night when it was very busy, and we all absolutely loved it. We ate various burgers (veggie, cheese, bacon & cheese), falafel, onion rings, and olives. The prices were a little high, but the food was worth it. I have to say my cheese burger was literally the best burger I have ever had. I had the smaller size, which only affects the size of the meat patty, which in my opinion is better. We ordered the onion rings because we saw someone else order them and they looked great. We were not disappointed. They came with herb mayo. They were wonderful. I will say that the soda is not free refills, but that may only be standard in the US. The bacon and cheese burger (done medium) was an experience from another reality. The bacon crisp, I threw on some delicious and crunchy onion rings, an extra helping of sweet savory BBQ sauce. Went to the Liffey Valley branch and the food was excellent and most of the service, however some of the staff are incredibly rude and honestly it's so obvious that they couldn't care less about you or their job. The salt cellars are unclean and most of the drinking glasses chipped and cloudy obviously from being washed incorrectly. I went to GBK after three other burger places in the area told me had over an hour wait for a group of six. I ordered the classic cheeseburger with a side of breaded mushrooms. The burger was pretty good and the breaded mushrooms were great. One of the girls I went with got "Hei Hei" fries and instead of seasoning the fries for you they just bring normal chips and a shaker of "Hei Hei" seasoning to the table. My few complaints are that they only have Heineken on tap and that one of the people at my table got the wrong meal entirely. But overall, the food was wonderful. read more
