OMG they actually have Skinny fries!!! & their onion rings are also delicious! I always get the cranberry and camembert cheese on the crispy chicken...mmm =) It's seat-yourself service, where you go up and order/pay (simultaneously) when you're ready. It's self-serve water, or you can order drinks. They often run out, but the oreo milkshakes are delicious. Probably a good idea to wait until dessert to try them though, or you may ruin your appetite! (but be in taste-bud heaven, so take your pick) This one's located in the Brunswick, so it's close to the Russell Square Tube station, as well as the SOAS and UCL universities. read more

Solid burger for a good price. Got the avocado bacon burger cooked medium rare with the truffle cheese fries. Came pretty promptly, a good 25% discount for students which is definitely worth the app download. Beef was cooked well, used the hot sauce that was on the cart in front -- added a good tangy spice to the richness of beef and avocado. read more

We met some friends here for lunch during our London visit. My wife had their Puy Lentil Burger. It had just the right amount of green curry -- quite tasty! I had the Kiwiburger -- everything was fresh, and the beetroot added a nice subtle flavor. And, "No," there was no kiwi in the burger. I think its named after some culture in New Zealand. Their garlic mayo was de-lish!! Just be sure you have a tin of Altoids handy! Good food, good service, and fair prices. read more

After waiting for 10 minutes for our burgers we were told there had been an accident in the kitchen, and we would have to wait another 15 minutes for out lunch. Boo!! They didn't say sorry...just told us how it was. By the time we received our burgers I only had 15 minutes left for my lunch break, so I had to eat speedily to get back to the office on time. I wouldn't mind this so much in the evening, but bad service at lunchtime is very uncool as most people have limited time at lunch break!? More Boo!! Wanted to eat burger with a friend and we decide to go for a Gourmet Burger Kitchen. All the area in Soho and Covent garden being so crowded during the weekend we decided to get to this one, which is located close to the tube and is easy to access from the center. Good and wise decision as the place was not full even if, quite busy. We took a nice table at the back of the restaurant and checked the carte before ordering at the counter. I order the Kiwi burger with beetroot and pineapple, asking to shift the egg for the bacon. We order fries and salad for the both of us. The service is quick and we got our order without waiting long. The burger are huge and wooden stick help to keep all the ingredient inside without making the all fall ! Salad was good but was disapointed by the fries which are obviously frozen and fried too quickly. I would prefer hand-made fries as they do for the burger where you really taste the difference from the industrial one. But it's worth trying the burger and the portion are huge so you might even don't need any desert ! read more

GBK just lost major points... why?! Because they've changed their menu. I realize times are hard, but not even giving people the options to create the burgers that were once on the menu... well it is downright disappointing. We arrived in London rather late... and by the time I finished getting my students checked in at the hotel, it was about 9:30 p.m. GBK was the only one that welcomed my order, so I opted for takeaway. I noticed the menu the lady gave me was much more paired down... I simply thought it was because I opted for takeaway. While I was sitting waiting (which wasn't that long at all...) I looked at the board on the wall and also noticed that it had been paired down. Again I figured maybe it was just the location that had a smaller menu. After talking with my friend today who had a separate experience at a different GBK, it seems as though this was a company wide decision and according to the staff at that GBK, they get about 20 complaints a day. However, I am rating this location and because of the quick and friendly service, willingness to take my order, and how much I enjoyed my burger in the confines of my own hotel room so no one had to see the BBQ sauce dripping down my chin... it is a 4-star. read more

I've had better burgers. And I've had burgers that are a LOT worse. (Surprisingly, the meat in the burger I had at an O'Neills was better tasting and better cooked.) But what's great about GBK is the choice of burgers available - I wasn't sure whether to have the Chilli, Habanero or Mexican. So instead went for the Wellington (with mushrooms and horseradish sauce). So to sum it up, the chips were so so and the burgers more than good enough but a bit pricey for what they are. Full marks for the quality of the service, though. The staff did their job as well as one could ever wish for. read more

Since it is so close to UCL, Hult, etc, there are a lot of students at this place and it's frequently busy, but I rarely eat in. If you are or know a student you MOST def should ask for a card. It's like 40% off the whole order, and when you have to order chips on the side this is brilliant. I think I have been here enough times to try all things on the menu, but my favourite is the Blue Cheese Burger. I am convinced that the burger itself is nothing to write home about but that Blue Cheese...... can I get a Hallelu?! I've started adding blue cheese inside my own homemade burger thanks to GBK. I'm not the biggest potato fan, so the skinny fries feel like an uphill battle for me, but if you love you some chips, you'll enjoy the skinny over the original. This is another spot that on the surface wouldn't be one that I would have liked, but thankfully I did it anyway and it turned out okay. read more

This place is OK. I came here for lunch after class at SOAS and had the fish burger, which was reminiscent of a slightly upmarket fillet-o-fish from McDonalds. The fish was freshly fried and the bun was decent, even though I felt they'd skimped on the tartar sauce. I'd come back for lunch if a friend wanted a burger, but I wouldn't necessarily make it a go-to lunch place. They have a really great 40% discount card for students, which I would recommend trying to get a hold of. I've had multiple burgers at the GBK. This review reflects the sum of my experiences. The Gourmet Burger Kitchen tries to take the burger experience and put a spin on it. Whether it is the "Kiwiburger" or one of their other creations the focus at GBK is their toppings. This leaves the beef to play a secondary role, and with the underwhelming buns at GKB it is really up to the toppings to carry the burger. The good news that the toppings do more than their fair share, and while the beef is not the best in London it is quite good and cooked properly. Overall, the GBK is a good option to grab a unique burger. I'd personally not recommend the Kiwi Burger as I find it too difficult to handle/eat, and also found the flavors to not be lacking a cohesive flavor profile. read more

Of the burger joints I go to, my favourite is GBK. Huge burgers with meat that's not overly cooked. The last time I went there was using the 2 for 1 offer they had, which definitely makes it a must go - especially after grocery shopping at the nearby Waitrose. My favourite burger remains the Avocado Bacon. Regardless, it isn't too expensive, with burgers costing about 6-8 pounds (they're bigger and better than McDs, hence the price differential). They also have baby burgers which are cheaper and smaller. Note that the fries there are purchased separately, and unfortunately, so is the sauce. If you are not a heavy eater, then it probably isn't worth it to get the fries and sauce. read more

If you are looking for a burger that will fill you up, somewhere to sit and talk with fast service, probably should find somewhere else. I have been to this GBK a few times as it is near to my work but each time when I'd give it another try it just didn't improve so I am going anywhere near the chain. The burgers are small, the wait for what you get is more than it needs to be, it seems to not realise if its meant to be a fast food restaurant or a real restaurant, so fails at both. The place is quite small but the service is never up to scratch and whenever I pay my £10+ for a meal, I could easily eat another one to actually fill me up. read more

I came here craving a great burger that would remind me of home and I wasn't disappointed. Ordered the bacon avocado burger which was a perfect size. I was a little disappointed with the avocado because it was mashed avocado instead of sliced. And it didn't have any flavor to it. The actual meat in the burger was perfect. Thick and flavorful without being soggy. Get the chunky fries to top everything off. Bomb steak fries that are crispy and not greasy! The service here is standard British service. The staff were having a very bad day, BUT the blonde fella who greeted us kept things professional and friendly. However the Asian lady who cleared away our table had given us the rudest table service we'd ever experienced. She kept completely silent, staring at the floor whilst clearing away our menus and completely ignored us after we said 'thank you'. To add insult to injury, when our food arrived we very politely asked for mayonnaise, which would have been common courtesy to provide as the food came out. She bluntly replied 'GET IT YOURSELF' and stormed off!! We will never be eating here again, the food was great but this woman has left a very sour taste in our mouths. This place is okay for okay burgers. The service is not particularly exceptional, nor was my falafel burger. I ordered it without mayonnaise, but it came with it anyway. The highlight was definitely the sweet potato fries: they originally come with the specialty GBK baconnaise, but as a vegetarian, I asked for it on the side to give to another friend, and not until the waitress brought it to our table was I informed that there were non-mayonnaise sauces. I'm not sure which one we ended up with, but it was slighty sweet and very, very good. I have a real thing for chicken burgers, (the ones made with whole chicken breast, not those processed breadcrumbed things on the McDonalds saver menu) and GBK's Pesterella is one of my absolute faves at the moment! Chicken breast with mozzarella and basil mayo slapped between a bun is an awesome combination, teamed with double cooked chunky fries generously sprinkled with GBK's signature Hei Hei salt and a side order of bacon aioli to dunk them in and that's one of my guilty pleasures my waistband won't let me indulge in too often, more's the pity! read more

Although initially impressed by the app and discounts available, I was severely disappointed by how the rewards system worked. I paid for my friend and was only rewarded for one meal. Furthermore, the portions were much smaller than expected despite the price. Being a burger restaurant, I expected high quality fries, however, the sweet potato fries portions were smaller than other GBK branches and the fries were not crispy but flimsy and soggy. Im quite a fan of GBK, the burgers are good quality and come in a wide range of different flavours and extras. The veggie menu is quite extensive which is often unusual for most chain restaurants! I LOVE their sweet potato fries! My only gripe with this GBK in particular is that it is small, dark and just a bit dingy! It really could use a lick of paint and some lights! The staff aren't the friendliest people on earth either when my friend asked for the Mexican burger without chorizo relish (as shes a Muslim who cant eat pork) they couldnt understand and kept trying to force her to have the chorizo- not great service! We went back to GBK this time in the mall in Bloomsbury because we needed a quick meal with my parents and I have to say that this time it was better. It was much less busy in London this go round and this was reflected in the state of this restaurant. Ordered a burger called the "Taxi Driver" which turned out really well. Plus, the Rosemary Fries, which I dont remember from last time, were awesome. We actually ended up going back 3 times during a 5 night stay because this was so good. I visited this restaurant one lunchtime with a colleague and using the 2-for-1 deal they have been running. I was surprised by how busy it was, though we had no difficulty getting a table. The staff were friendly, particularly the waitress who took our order, but the lunchtime rush meant that we had to wait approximately 25 minutes for our food to arrive. Considering most people are on limited lunch breaks, this wasn't a great service. The food was quite nice, but the portobello mushroom burger was pretty expensive for what it was and I was disappointed by what little mushroom there was. My colleague had the falafel burger, though and that seemed much more substantial and appealing! Overall the experience was OK: a combination of the slow-ish service and the fairly average food mean I can't rave about it. read more

Fan I am . A regular, 10 times last month, 7 so far this month. If you love burgers you will love gbk. Only downer is sometimes the burger is left at the island for a while before they serve you which means the grilled meat sogs the bread a little. But if you're thinking of treating yourself, go for a cranberry Camembert. First time I ate that, it felt like I was hitting high heaven. Funny thing was I bought the chicken avocado bacon burger as well and intended to eat that for my dinner and save the cranberry Camembert one for later, the minute I sunk my teeth into the Camembert I couldn't stop! The avocado obviously became second :D good stuff overall. Chocolate milkshake is amazing, they have chunks of Belgian chocolate in them too! read more

wow surprisingly god! i wasnt expecting a great tasting burger. i got the classic burger which was juicy and very filling. ive had some pretty bad patties before. i also got the skinny fries which were also amazing. skinny fries are great. the shakes are pretty good as well. i love the free peanuts and the jars of water that they have. whats great about this place is the use of taste cards here. the price of two for one?? so worth it. one of the best chain places ive been to so far. i definitely would come back for another great burger. read more
