Gourmet burger shops are a recent craze in my home city of Perth, Australia in the past 2-3 years so I was a bit unsure about trying them at GBK. I'm not a big burger fan. I ordered the cheese burger from the lunch menu and immediately regretted it. I should have tried the more exotic burgers on the main menu. The cheese burger was excellent!! Possibly the best burger I've ever had. If the standard burger style is so good, I can only imagine how the others taste. The other reviews are not joking, this place is great!! Ok, I don't think this is the GBK location that I actually went to, but I'll avoid any description of decor and just keep the food! The burgers are AMAZING! If you are looking for a fun date place or a nice family meal destination, go to GBK. It's not exactly fast food, but operates a little like a partial self-serve restaurant. You choose a table and learn the number of your table from a wandering waiter or waitress. Then you look at menus and choose your burgers (SO many options) and head up to a counter to place your order. In about 10-15 minutes, your food arrives on nice plates with silverware and it's all very civilized. So a mix of fast food and sit down restaurant all in one. Stopped here on a random weekday on the way home. Plenty of seats both downstairs and up, so don't be fooled in the first floor is packed, there are a lot more seats! This is the definition of fast casual - menus given to you, but order and pay at the counter. Workers were nice, definitely not waiters - but that's not their thing, so don't expect it. We ordered the Avocado Bacon, and the Blazing Sombrero. Both were decent but not great. The avocado bacon just had very little flavor, the burger itself did not prove to be excellent. It was well cooked - just bland. The Blazing Sombrero added some flavor with the chorizo, so overall much better - again thought the baseline burger was just bland. The buns also fell apart - almost seemed a bit old and stale - but I think they were just not very dense, so the juice from the burger ate them up. We also tried the homeslaw, good texture, just not a lot of flavor. Also, there are peanuts next to the ordering counter; just boiled, not salted (or with flavor) or anything. I'd avoid those in the future. Price was a bit high for what we got, and while the atmosphere was good, just didn't stand out enough to go back. read more

We sat upstairs, not really a fan of the layout/atmosphere, a bit overcrowded. The staff were friendly, however I found one member of staff to be quite off-ish as well as being rude to other members of staff in front of us. An absolute fave place to go for a good tasty burger! I was jumping for joy when I found out how close this was to my house! All the classics with a few exotic tasting flavours. They have a nice range of side orders, including onion rings, coleslaw, BBQ beans and chunky fries! Not that, you'll need the side as the burgers here are very filling! They also have a good choice of salads and a kids menu. The price is right, the service is nice, and the restaurant is comfortable! While driving to GBK tonight my mouth was already salivating at the thought of the juice mountain of a burger that was awaiting my arrival, and I was not disappointed :). If you love well-crafted burgers with big, fat, juice pieces of meat then you need to get your butt down to your local GBK and start munching away. Greenwich GBK has always delivered a consistently good service since its opening and I can't honestly say I have been disappointed to date. Gets two big thumbs up from me. read more

3 stars seems fair, though if there were half stars I would give it 3.5. The burgers are creative and I appreciate the variety when trying a new place. I chose the blazing sombrero and my dining partner settled on the avocado bacon. Both were a little more cooked than we would have chosen, but not so overcooked that the flavor was gone. For a side we got skin-on fries and corn. The corn was just ok and I am not sure I would get that again. The fries were cut thin like shoe lace fries and actually tasted pretty good (I typically like thicker cut fries/chips). You order at the counter, have a seat, and they bring it to you. Kind of a nice middle ground between fast food and fine dining. Perfect for a casual night out. Everything was pretty good but because it wasn't amazing, I imagine we will try a few other burger places out before coming back. Not a bad option though. read more

Thirty minutes between ordering and getting our food (two burgers, one portion of chips) - it was Friday evening but I didn't expect that long thought it was strange seen as these two selections probably make up 80% of the orders taken? The girl taking our order was as cold as the draft coming in the door; plenty of people took to musical chairs to try and escape it (the draft, not her mood). Ooh this branch feels expensive. I only found myself in here because M&S was shut. But I do still object to paying £8 for takeaway dinner. Especially when it's just for little ol' me. Couldn't even afford a milkshake. Dinner wasn't awful, but it wasn't as good as I remember the burgers from here being. Chips were good, but everything was very dry. I feel like GBK are losing their edge. Remember Hamburger Union used to be popular a couple of years ago... There are some great eateries in Greenwich, most of them quite expensive. Located very near the DLR station and close to the Greenwich Theater, we now traditionally dine here before attending our favorite yearly panto offering. It's inexpensive, friendly and they have a huge assortment of different burger selections and some surprisingly wonderful salads. We highly recommend the Chicken Chili Salad, and as for burgers ... well we haven't found a bad one yet. Don't go for paying the additional pound-fifty for cheese through - you'll never locate it on your burger! Just enjoy the meaty goodness as presented and you'll leave very happy. read more

As a long time (10 years) Greenwich resident I wanted to give this place a go after an absence of a few years - due largely to a Byron's opening up in 2012 at Greenwich pier. Pluses - it's marginally cheaper than Byron's and I'd say the cheese burger is as good. Service was also quick and responsive. Minuses - the place is looking tired. It was the original gourmet burger chain in Greenwich and it shows. Also, something I found odd, both mine and my sons (3 yrs old) meals arrived on kids sized plates meaning everything easily spilled on the table. There is one further thing worth mentioning: when I was there the place had an unpleasant drains smell inside The manager assured me this was a council and not a restaurant problem, and it happens once a month or so. The best I've struck at a GBK. The burger itself wasn't quite as good as I've had at other locations, thr gf bun was more crumbly than usual but it was fine. Tried the rosemary fries. Absolutely detest fries that skinny... they're so pointless. What s out rosemary chunky fries? Now there's an idea! As GBKs go, this is a good one. The service was friendly, the food good and the restaurant was nice and clean, despite it being a busy Saturday night. It is on the pricey side, but the servings are so big you can share easily. Expensive. Kids' party will catered for, even though service quite sluggish. For adults, much as they're tasty and interesting variations on the burger theme, portions are bloody small, particularly for the price , and to be honest I'd say Burger King was far better value and taste for your money. This joint always seems to be packed out whenever I walk by on a Friday, Saturday or Sunday. I think it's well deserved though. Just been here last friday and we had a little bit of a wait for the a table but nothing too heavy and we were able to relax with a drink at the bar area before eating. Nice grub and you get nice hearty services. Like the person the other review says, its quite expensive. They are always offering vouchers of some kind. The specifics ones we had were any burger and fries for £5.95. In total, the meal for four of us (including 2 starters, 2 drinks) came to just under £40 which is definitely reasonable. read more
