My first visit to Plateau Restaurant, or Canary Wharf in London for that matter. We went for lunch with a friend, and it was lovely, delicious, and the service was nice too. I like the ambiance of the restaurant during lunch. Bright, airy, fresh.. with views of the high rises around you. The food was great. I had an artichoke to start, followed with a tasty Halibut dish, and to finish, Creme Brûlée. Not to forget to mention my Beluga martini!! I would definitely return!! read more

Dined at the grill and bar, not the restaurant. Went on Thursday late night so no queue and got a window seat through walk-in. Ordered set menu with tuna salad, lamb shank and strawberry dessert. Tuna salad was good and finished it all. Lamb shank came flamed which was cute. Unfortunately the lamb was overcooked and dry inside. After explaining with the waitress, I was offered with a replacement generously, but being full from starter and waiting for dessert I declined it. Dessert was decent. When paying for the bill I saw I was only charged for 20 pound and they waved my dish. Alarm and was really nice and excellent service. Well definitely recommend and come back again read more

Went for bar snacks and drinks with colleagues, and really enjoyed everything. I had two glasses of "Healthy Soul" -- a non alcoholic cocktail. I absolutely loved it and would return for it. We ordered a combination of squid, popcorn chicken and samosas for snacks. They were all really good, and I particularly enjoyed the popcorn chicken. Ambience was perfect -- a great view and reasonably quiet, so you could hold a proper conversation. Overall a posh environment, and I liked some of their decor and furniture. Service was very good as well. They were very prompt in bringing our orders and kind overall. A great place to go after work if you work in the area. read more

I'm surprised I haven't wrote about this place as its my favourite after work place for drinks. In the heart of Canary Wharf, this pricy but chic place attracts all the office workers and people who have had a hard day's shopping. A bit on the pricey side but great service, attentive, great drinks selection, nibbles are tasty, good out door area for smokers but also great to sit out in the summer and delicious food . I can't really say any more it's definitely worth a go. It does get really busy after working hours and on Friday night. If it's for a quick drink, a birthday celebration or impressing someone out for dinner... It's definitely the place to be. read more

For a truly enjoyable dinner in Canary Wharf head straight to the best restaurant in the area - Plateau: consistently tasty food, good service and a nice view overlooking skyscrapers and Canada Square. From a rich mushroom velouté to a flavoursome game terrine for starters. Followed by a never-expected-to-taste-so-good colourful parsley tagliatelle with caramelised onion and roast guinea fowl with black trompettes. A cheese course of Brie with truffle is served before a "floating island" dessert of a light meringue with custard. The kitchen is run by talented chefs who worked in Michelin-starred Galvin at Windows and Marcus Wareing restaurants before. The restaurant has quite an extensive wine list, with fine wines available by the glass from a special enomatic machine. I've been to Plateau before, usually just drinks so on this occasion I booked a dinner for me and some friends. Stunning interior. Lovely views over the gardens below at Canary Wharf. Warm, friendly and efficient service. The food was scrummy and at a good £25pp price with complimentary bubbles. I love bubbles. There was an art showing at the time we were there and this heightened the evening if it were even possible. Plateau is situated in Canada Square above the Waitrose and although this is a New York chic place the staff were not pretentious. Very glam! So, can my fellow Londoners please leave the jeans at home? I really don't want to see that in a place like this. Did I mention that the cocktails were slamming? Well, they were. So, Canary Wharf. A place well known for suits, businesses and high rise towers. This restaurant does seem to fit in, but does offer more than what you would normally expect. I came here for lunch in the week to the grill section of the restaurant. The service is very high end and thorough. Their menu seems very interesting and there is a lot of variety to try. However, I was in a rush and they offer a Express Lunch weekday menu which consist of a main and either a cocktail or glass of wine for £10-12. The only downside was that the express dish is only one dish and wasn't vegetarian. No complaints as I'm not. Food did take a while to come, but it was worth it. Amazing fluffy mash, top quality sausages and incredible red wine jus. Yes it was sausage and mash, but so refined you wouldn't have known. This place is on the 4th floor above the Waitrose at Canary Wharf. The view at night is nice(all the lights in the surrounding offices are left on, not very environmently friendly but does look pretty..). There is also a bar/grill, as well as a main restaurant. Food and drinks are good, not a cheap restaurant but I think it is good quality. Good place to take a London visitor, also good for business meetings. They also have tables out on the terrace,which has cover, they allow smoking in this section. The atmosphere is relaxing yet profesional. They also cater for children ( we had one 4 year old child in our group and we were dining after 9pm, they had no issue with this, children menu was available for her). Great restaurant £35 for 5 courses special right now. Food - Portions are small but very high quality. I did the 5 course set menu and ordered the Pea Soup, Haddock and Almond Pear Tart. It was very tasty although I wished they had more variety and included the house Creme Brûlée on their dessert set menu. Ambience - Perfect. Classy. Fine Dining. Very elegant with white table cloths and the complete setting of table ware. Great for a business meeting or evening a dinner date with a friend or hubby. Also, stunning views of the city and very chic glass windows in the main dining area and private rooms. Plateau is a Canary Wharf mainstay. Given all the money floating around there you'd think there'd be a bunch of comparable fine dining restaurants. But (to the best of my knowledge) there really aren't. The food's great and Head Chef Allan Pickett is an inspired cook. But to be honest, I guess Plateau's real draw is its exceptional fourth floor views. You'll feel as though you're in Manhattan or Hong Kong more than London when dining here. Mid century modern design describes the look and feel of the interior and in my book that's a wonderful thing. Tasty food in a lovely setting with a stunning view. We visited plateau for dinner and cocktails. We has a reservation for 6 people and we turned up to be 8 of us. We had to wait for a bit to rearrange the table settings. The stuff is very polite and helpful to understand what was included with our choices. Cocktails were tasty. All in all with 40£ (including standard London tip) we were fed well, drunk well, and treated well. OK the portions were not enormous, not even big enough, but they were well cooked, and that made it a nice experience. Female toilets were clean and they did pay attention to details like that they had proper hand towels to dry your hands. +: the view is amazing (all glass around) ++: our friends knew the bar tender and his girlfriend so had some cocktails for free ;) - not bad, not bad at all! +++: Decoration is sharp and clean! I'm really not sure what to make of Plateau. I really don't. The views were great, 14th floor, and surrounded by high rises, citigroup, barclays, and looking down into a neat square. Plush carpet, and posh interior design, but it felt rather clinical to me. There wasn't a lot of character, so I can see why a lot of client meetings would be here. But it just didn't do it for me. Saying that, we didn't drink. Maybe if I had a few cocktails, my perspective would be different. Also, note to self: to ask to sit away from the door to the balcony because that was FREEZING. Since I already ate my body weight's worth at lunch over wahaca, I opted for something quite light, seabass fillet with potato and cucumber. It was alright. The fish was beautifully cooked, but again, it wasn't wow worthy, especially for the price it came. But, what makes me rethink this place is the desserts. They were really good. Especially, my hazelnut parfait with lime gel. I didn't think it would work but it does. Like the lime just cut the sweetness so it just worked. The presentation for both main and dessert was just a work of art though. read more

Visited late on a Saturday afternoon and experienced the 2 course set menu for £15 pp including a glass of house wine. Unfortunately the restaurant was very quiet so no atmosphere but the views over Canada Square park are spectacular. Good service and good value for money. read more

Taken here by my friend on a recent trip to England. He has always spoken so highly of this restaurant, so of course it was one place I had to visit. He is known here, which was evident as I was introduced to several people, and we were greeted with warmth, hugs, and smiles from all. Angela, the hostess, was charming, gracious, and go so sweet. Now, I can only speak from the bar experience, but it was a pure delight. Diego is a master mixologist, and brought us outstanding cocktails. We sat inside, and as it was getting darker Canary Wharf looked amazing all lit up. There is an outside patio here as well. Well, an indoor, outdoor, patio. It was chilly, but blankets, and heaters are present should you need them. I can't wait to come back here again and dine on, what looked to be, excellent fare. I went to Plateau for Valentine's Day and had a great experience. The staff was kind enough to book us a table with a view and ofered us the coffee as a compensation for the time we were waiting for the starters. For main course I had a burguer that was bigger than any other I had my entire life. It was absurdely tall probably two times the size of a normal burguer. Despite that it was well cooked on the middle. 5 stars! The starters were very small for the price and so were the deserts. But apart from that, everything was in line with what you would expect from a £20-£25 PP meal. read more

The view in this venue is surely recommended! Love their windows roof that u can oversee the blue sky outside. It is good for a group of 10 ppls too as they have big comfy tables. Modern. The food is normal as a French restaurant. They taste good, but just not very exciting or unique. Maybe they keep it safe as a corporate dinning venue. read more

I stumbled upon Plateau whilst in the shopping centre at Canary Wharf and it's a real change when the lift doors open, I didn't expect to go from a hectic shopping buzz to such a serene atmosphere. The views are amazing, you look up at all the skyscrapers through the glass walls and the decor inside is sleek yet simple. I skipped starters and went straight to mains and was not disappointed with my steak and bearnaise sauce, it was cooked to perfection and delicious. I have only ever been on a weekend so it was a variety of clientele including families but I would imagine in the week it would be very corporate given the location. read more

Almost slightly over engineered for that price with two hostesses, a cloak room and cloth towels in the washrooms. This place has everything!! Bar, grill, outdoor terrace, restaurant and a cool little lounge with some cow skin covered sofas. Never too crowded. Table service, water and bar snacks on the house. The staff are friendly and attentive. Lots of drinks to choose from and the best thing is you are away from all of the noise and crowds that pour out of the offices and into the bar on a Thursday and Friday night. Very nice venue, nice contemporary furnishing. Service was very good. as you'd expect for corporate dining. Food was good, but not spectacular. Generally speaking, I'm not sure what to think: absolutely nothing wrong with the place, and maybe a nice positive with the view, but it all seemed very sterile. 3 stars sums it up nicely in that it was par for the course (i.e. what you would expect given the price and setting), without anything standing out in particular. read more

We dined here on a Thursday evening. We were seated in the bar area which was loud but we had a choice of that or the restaurant and we chose it. I would have chosen the restaurant had I known it was going to be as loud as it was. No fault of Plateau, as a bar is going to be loud. Great food, good customer service and the scene and view were spectacular of the Financial district of Canary Wharf. Give it a try you are looking for upscale and trendy. read more

I have eaten here 4 times and every time the experience has been perfect. The restaurant overlooks the picturesque Canada Square in Canary Wharf from an elevated position (which was partcularly nice overlooking the Ice Skating below). We started the meals with cocktails at the bar. They were a little pricey at £9 a pop but very very delicious and well made/presented. The Modern European food offers a range to suit all tastes, last night to start I had a delicious Autumn Terrine and my wife had smoked salmon and crab which she mmmmmd and aahd about, each subsequent course was a good size and value for the money. The service is a little prompt but attentive and the waiter was extremely helpful when discussing our wine choices or particular needs. It had a great atmosphere, feels very classy and I will definitely be making a 5th visit. Our Meal was three courses with wine, water and coffee and came to £100. read more

We've visited Plateau twice on a weekend, once with a small party (4) and most recently in a large group. If you can, book a table by the window for a view over the city (and currently, the ice rink outside canary wharf). The venue is elegant and service was excellent; attentive, professional and friendly. The weekend set menu was great value - two or three courses for around £15, which turns a visit here from a treat to a bit of affordably luxury. Starters included a tasty soup, and fish cake, although the salad option was disappointing. Mains were poussin, fresh ravoli, or fish with chips. Lovely bread basket, good range of desserts and coffee. Our only grumble was drinks at the bar beforehand seemed pricier than necessary (nearly £20 for a bloody mary and a G&T). But overall a quality place, highly recommended. read more

Beautiful space! The food was pretty good, but I can't remember what we ate. We sat in the bar by the windows. It was on the noisy side- then again it was Friday night. We will definitely be back to try the restaurant. This is a good place to bring guests for a nice evening in either the bar or restaurant. read more

Had a great business lunch here! Absolutely beautiful view, the interior design is very modern/contemporary, service was beyond excellent, and our waiter was great at recommending dishes based on our preferences. I had the pumpkin ravioli with chive piked butter, both succulent and fulfilling. Beetroot salad was oh-kay, was expecting a little more umph to be honest. Cherry tart for dessert was decent although I was also hoping for something a little less than the ordinary. Overall, I definitely would recommend this restaurant for a formal, not too uptight, but fancy lunch or dinner. read more

Tonight we were taking advantage of an offer in the grill of £20 for 3 course plus a glass of house wine. Very good value for the food we were served. Service was spot on tonight. Maybe 4.25 stars actually. I held a business dinner event for 25 people at Plateau last week, and it was really well done. The room is quite nice, with a trendy vibe, although not overwhelmingly so. We started with cocktails in a semi-private bar area; beautiful view in that area, very comfortable spot, although one of the servers had a difficult time understanding some of the orders (a vodka and club soda became just a club soda; lemons in drinks when people had asked for limes); not a big deal, but just a tiny bit frustrating. One of the few missteps of the entire evening. After cocktails, we were seated in 3 oval tables in a different semi-private area--sort of behind a half wall, so we were separated from the main restaurant space, but not entirely closed off. Really a nice space for our size party actually. The service during dinner was excellent. We had a set menu with two choices each for starters, mains, and desserts. At our table the waiter was quite insistent (in a good way) that one of the starters (the scallops) and one of the mains (the beef filet) were far better choices than the alternatives. I think nearly all of the 8 seated at our table took his advice, and ended up being quite happy about it. The scallops were large and sweet, although the preparation was a bit unexpected--really more of a chowder than a sauce; we literally ate it with a spoon. Very tasty. The filet was quite tender with good flavor and accompaniments. Dessert offered a choice between molten chocolate cake and a cheese selection of 4 cheeses. I opted for the cheese, and it was very nice. The person sitting next to me fully endorsed the cheeses, and he lives in Paris so that's a good enough validation for me. I did get a taste of the chocolate cake as well, and it was as sinful as you'd expect. My only complaint is that the wine list is very difficult. Really no value to be had at all. I am completely fine that the restaurant makes significant profits on wine, but this list was really tough to work with. As the person tasked with choosing a red and a white for our event, the pressure is really on. And while it's a company expense, I need to watch the cost a bit. Fortunately I was able to select wines ahead of time, so could do a bit of online research to see about finding any value at all on the list. Paying 40 quid for a £9/bottle wine is shameful. In the end, I found a decent beaujolais with a bit better markup, and everyone seemed quite satisfied with it; we certainly drank plenty of it! Overall, I can highly recommend Plateau, at least for an event. Excellent food, very strong service, and nice ambience. read more

Went here to meet up with an old friend who works in the district for lunch. This was per his suggestion. Upon arrival, 2 ladies greeted us professionally offering to take our coats. We were escorted to our table in the beautiful main dining room which is surrounded by glass yielding a gorgeous view. There was a prix fixe menu of 2 or 3 courses, we chose the 2 course option which included a pint (ish) of house wine each, very nice! The food was beautifully presented and the wait staff was both funny and professional. I thoroughly enjoyed the meal and the price was by reasonable. Highly recommended with good portion control. Very great decoration! We had a great Christmas meal here. The service is impeccable! And you can get best recommendation for wine. We chose 2 sweet wine, which were very nice! I recommend potato with hen eggs for the starter and turkey for the main course. The fig brûlée is perfect for dessert cause its balanced sweet and bitter taste! But the sea bream was too salty for us, though waiter helped change one. Overall, the majority dishes r nice to try. And the service is the best.
