Wonderful place to have sunday roast and what a fabulous view of the docklands. Ample seating indoor and outdoor. Book for a table ahead of time.

Awesome little tavern with great food. Only reason for 4 stars is the service was slow and inattentive. They have a gazpacho that is to die for! The pork belly was also amazing. You can't go wrong with the food! Enjoy!

I went to see a movie at the O2 with a group of friends and afterwards we were wanting to grab a nice dinner. I looked through Yelp suggestions for the area and found this one to have the highest ratings... and boy, are they justified! But let's start at the start! The pub is a little harder to find as it's quite out of the way, but it has a fantastic view over the water and the O2. The walk is definitely worth it. The staff was super friendly and helpful, they explained all the available specials and left us to peruse the menu. It's not very extensive, which is good as too much selection is usually a bad sign. Three of us went for the Sunday roast (which comes in roast beef, pork or lamb) and one went for two starters instead of a main. All four meals arrived precisely at the same time and were presented really well and UNBELIEVABLY DELICIOUS! I've tried many Sunday roasts in a variety of pubs, but this one definitely wins out by miles! The meat was tender and flavourful, the potatoes crisp on the outside and soft on the inside, the vegetables had just the right amount of bite to them and the Yorkshires were perfect. The portions were great and the quality superb. I absolutely understand why this pub has such a high rating. It's definitely worth it for the food as well as the view and the lovely staff. Big win all around!

Recommended by British as the best Sunday roast in London! Hey that's a statement so i had to go and grab some ;) So thiss a pub in the isle of dogs, it's a bit tricky to get there we got an über from Canary Wharf station The best thing about it, is the great views of the 02, boats and the river, i imagine it must be really lovely during the summer, they have a fire place very cosy We got a table in what looked like a conservatory with views to the river Service was great Food was really nice I had the roast beef, very impressed as it was very healthy the beef and vegetables were cooked to perfection, it's my first time having a Yorkshire pudding not sure what to think about it tbh I remember saying to my friend it's like eating air and he laughed so much :) So that's my first roast beef in my life I must say I did really enjoyed it and I'm definitely coming back!

Peanut butter parfait with chocolate sorbet, bananas, and caramel popcorn

My boyfriend and I both agree that that this place is 5 star flavours, but 3 star portions. The Gun is a gorgeous gastropub situated next to the Thames with a wonderful of the water and full view of the O2 in the back dining room. A small portion of the terrace is open air while a large portion is covered by glasses so your view is unobstructed despite sitting indoors. The inside dining room is super cozy with two fireplaces. We ordered: - chicken and artichoke terrine: really good and a really unique dish - stewed rabbit loin with sausage roll: delicious, but the rabbit was mushy for some reason - ricotta tortellini with kale pesto: good - peanut parfait with banana and caramel glazed popcorn: really good, tasted like a snickers bar, extremely stingy with the banana The place has wonderful atmosphere and good service (automatic 12.5% gratuity though), but the value isn't fully there. To be totally full, you will have to order a starter (around £15), and main (around £25), AND a dessert (around £7), which will total around £45 a person without drinks and without gratuity. If you come here not too hungry, you might get away with less. The food is good here though, and their menu changes seasonally. If you're in the neighbourhood and are looking for some traditional british gastropub food and a good view, you definitely should visit

I went to The Gun with colleagues for a large work dinner. I just loved this cozy pub right on the water. First of all, the decor is a delight. Each little room has a different feel and the spacious covered back patio serves as a nice spot on a beautiful day. Even though it was a little chilly on the day we were there, they had heaters on the back that made it quite comfortable. It definitely gives your the feeling of a traditional, historic English pub. The food was quite surprising. I had a goat cheese panna cotta for an appetizer and the pesto lamb as my entree. The plating was beautiful here, not what you would expect from pub food. My panna cotta was very interesting (in a good way), both in consistency and taste. The lamb was tender and flavorful. The courses are a bit smaller but I had three courses so that was plenty of food. I really think this is one of the best pubs in London - between the atmosphere and the food. The only downsides are that it feels a bit out of the way unless you live/work near the wharf and the service was a bit lacking as our waiter was unfriendly. It's still not enough from me to sway from my 5-star rating though!

Recently, after many, many years of living in sin I got married. To celebrate, I took a small group of friends and family to The Gun. What you may not realise is that, if you have a group of between 8 and 14 people, you can use the Trafalgar Room. This room, reached by a secret passage by the bar has a magnificent view across the Thames. And was where Nelson had assignations with Lady Hamilton. The food was perfect, the service impeccable. I availed myself librally of their excellent wine list. It is, without doubt, one of the most perfect locations for such a gathering in London.

While you can hang out in the crowd and grab a pint easily without that, if you want to dine in the quieter dining area with views of the water you may want to do so as well. Especially if you want the elbow room to enjoy such great food. The Mayflower is named after the famous ship carrying the early American settlers, and the church tied to this voyage is steps away where apparently an unmarked grave hosts the resting spot of the captain of that ship. It's candlelit and kind of romantic on the top floor with great views. For food, my wife had the chicken pie and I had the special of the day, lamb stew with housemade potato salad. It was warm, flavorful and delicious, sentiments my wife shared on the pot pie. We split an order of mac and cheese, and it was also delicious. Such great comfort food. I had a small scotch pour and an ale, my wife a glass of wine. I had a small port to pair with the sticky toffee pudding at the end which was terrific. My wife swears by Gordon Ramsey's recipe of the same but this one was hard to beat IMO.

We ordered onion rings to start, the breading on them was amazing! It was light and crispy as opposed to being heavy and greasy like a lot of onion rings. I also loved the curry ketchup that came with them. I'm not generally a curry fan, but it definitely worked with this dish. My husband got fish and chips. The fish was perfectly fried and the tarter sauce was obviously house made because it tasted very fresh and lemony. The chips were fine, but unremarkable in my opinion. For my meal, I ordered pumpkin walnut gnocchi. It was delicious! Just enough pumpkin without being overpowering. There was quite a bit of kale (I think it was kale, the menu didn't say) that came with the dish. It was very good, but probably could have been dialed back a little. The service was friendly and prompt. Definitely a great way to start our London vacation!

The establishment has a nice mixture of cozy and airy, which was perfect for a lazy(ish) Sunday. I hate to use this word, but I'll use it anyway (because I can't think of a better descriptor): the service here is "super" friendly, and very knowledgeable, particularly regarding the ales on tap. The barkeep gave us a few sample pours without waiting for us to ask, which we greatly appreciated. Because of that, we were more than happy with the pints we ordered. Moving on to the food: the roasts were delicious, in particular the pork loin, which was moist and flavorful. I enjoyed my roast beef as well. The Yorkshire pudding was wonderful and I might have been just as happy eating that alone for my meal, to be honest. The pub is in walking distance of the touristy areas of Greenwich, so it's easy enough to put some good food in your belly and continue on to your sightseeing, afterward.
