Good coffee, but every time we come here it takes forever and sometimes we have to leave without a drink. We sat at the window without being greeted for 5 minutes or more while the girl working chatted with the car on the other side (yes she saw us). 2.5. I think I will retire from this place for now. It's tough because my experience has been 50/50. Half of the time my drinks are great. The other half, terrible. Ordered two iced drinks on the April's specials list today. Both were 16oz, with special flavors and with cold foam on top. When we received the drinks the actual drink (ice included) was only to the halfway point in the cup. The other HALF was cold foam. Which meant that there was A LOT of syrups and flavorings in very little beverage. It was horrible. I normally love sweet drinks but ick. I don't know if they were poorly made, or just a really bad menu item. And the reward point system? I'm not sure why it is so difficult to input a phone number. It took literally 7 times for them to get my number correct, (and they wrote it down), and then they told me I don't have $5 off. Um. I wasn't asking for money off. I just wanted my number on my order to get my reward points.... At the end of all that I never got my usual text that said I earned points, so for all I know it still probably didn't get input correctly. All in all, the good drinks have been great. The bad drinks have been awful. And in this economy it just isn't worth the money to not know which I'll get this time. read more

We told the barista how much money to add onto our bill for a tip and she doubled it. We didn't catch it until we were hours away.

My cold brew was good, but the lotus drink that the barista suggested was out of this world. It had been a long, long day and it was so incredibly refreshing, it perked me right up and helped me thru the 2 hour drive home. I will always stop here when driving thru the gorge. read more

After three days without good espresso I was in espresso withdrawal today, so I checked Yelp out while the kids where playing at Bob's beach in Stevenson. Found this little place at 8 minutes walking distance and decided to go and satisfy my espresso craving. Got there walking and got in-line behind the cars, waiting for my turn. Decided to get a simple 8oz latte and a Nutella muffin, which I shared with a friend. Latte was ok, much better than Starbucks (not that hard you might say), but nothing to go crazy about, just a solid decent latte. The muffin was good, with a creamy hazelnut chocolate filling. The barista was very approachable and fun and kind, and she even showed us the flavor menu when we told her we didn't know what we wanted! Turns out their flavor list isn't on their main menu, so I went ahead and took a photo of it and posted it here! My husband got the almond-Rocha flavor in an iced latte, and I got a shortbread & white chocolate flavored iced latte. And an extra star to this place if I could for being the only coffee place left in town open as advertised despite the heat. The other places in the town closed down "early" for the day, and thank goodness they did because it lead us here. Would go again!! read more

I really like this coffee shop, and frequently stop by, however...there are a couple of baristas that talk non-stop and take an extremely long time to prepare the beverages. Be aware: if you are waiting in a line and a car pulls up to an empty window, they will help the car that has arrived and not the already established line. This has happened many times. read more

Visiting for the weekend and I was in need of a warm beverage whilst I burry myself in reading. This is an 8 min drive from where I'm staying and luckily I didn't run into a line when I arrived (around 8 am). The barista was friendly and made my order quickly - a dirty chai latte (Sattwa Organic Chai - concentrate) w/ oat milk. I grabbed a couple of gluten-free fruit pop-tarts for myself and my husband as well. The price is affordable, the drink temp was piping hot (how I like it), and the pop-tarts are delicious! Their ipad/tech is running a bit slow but it didn't impact receiving my order in a timely manner. Might have to stop by again before we hit the road. read more

This place is always busy, so I knew I had to check it out. I got a Mexican mocha and a cinnamon roll, as well as a Nutella muffin. The Mexican mocha was out of this world. The cinnamon roll was made locally and so good. The woman working the shop was really friendly and I think this is now my new favorite coffee place in the area. read more

I don't drink coffee or tea. But the person I provide care does. So after checking out of Roadway inn. We got breakfast here. Limited on food. They had frozen breakfast burritos. They were okay. Hopefully when you stop here you are not in a rush. Very sweet and quaint small town drive thru coffee shack. Some of the flavorings area little on the too sweet side, but the prices are fair and the service is prompt and friendly. The line here can get a little bit long, so on busy weekend expect a 10 minute wait or so, but that comes with the territory of being one of the only drive thru coffee shops in town. The little cookies, biscotti, and other snacks they provide are always fresh and make for a good quick snack or light breakfast. With the brightly colored paint job you cant miss Gotta Hava Java passing through this small town. Be sure to stop in if you're passing through and try one of their flavored red bulls! read more

I had a 20oz Americano and a coffee cake muffin. The coffee was good, and the muffin was excellent. Not sure if the muffin was homemade or store bought, but it was warmed perfectly. The young man who served me was friendly and did a great job. Location is convenient, right along the main street through Stevenson. Little secret. There are west side and east side choices for Java in Stevenson and each has its proponents. Can't we all just get along...well of course we can. I just happen to love chatting with folks at Gotta Hava Java and (it turns out) irritating that dog lady (with the whiny review) in the car behind me. Jenny makes a great "Aussie style" wet light foam cappuccino. Give her the particulars and you'll get a custom drink with a smile. And all the folks make hands down the best mocha ice rage with a floating shot! Johnny is cool and so is his little barista "the Saul Meister". If you gotta have a java rolling down hwy 14 on the Washington side of the Columbia Gorge, well, Gotta Hava Java is probably your bet. That would be presuming that you are well past the Bridge of the Gods coming out of the Portland area, and you have not yet made it within striking distance of Husom. The joint is strictly drive through (so don't expect to pee), and it's strictly espresso drinks (though they will hand you a cup of hot water and a tea bag, if you insist). No brewed coffee, though. Quality of the mocha and latte we drove away with was okay. Not that I would drive all the way over here from anywhere on the Oregon side of the river for it... But like they say on the sign: Gotta Hava Java? This is the place. read more

Unexpected surprise. First time in Stevenson. Took a stroll with the kids and stopped for coffee. As good as Starbucks. Good prices. The ower was working and very friendly and accomodating. He's working to fix up the place a little. Hard working entrpenuer who bought this with his wife a few years ago. Works long hours and carries two other jobs and has a family!!
