The washer made a loud and jarring "boom" sound when it began its cycle, and several times throughout the washing cycle. Harper's came out to look at it twice, and said that there was nothing wrong with it - perhaps it was a plumbing issue (though the previous washer had not made this sound). We had a plumber check it out and it was not a plumbing issue. We have listened to the very loud booms from the machine (which reverberate throughout the house) for 2 years until it stopped working last week. Our repairman said it needed a new control board, which he installed. This still did not fix the problem. His finding was that the "boom" sound was a defective drive motor, which was not detected by Harper's on 2 occasions. When I went to Harper's today to tell them about the situation they took no responsibility, telling me their repair person had looked at the machine and not found anything wrong with it, and unfortunately the warranty was up. I find this very frustrating, as there was clearly something wrong with the machine from the beginning, and their lack of getting to the root of the problem caused it to break after only two years. Yes, technically it is no longer their problem, but they could have done way better on this. Extremely disappointing.

Then he waited while I filled an already-existing oversized access hole behind the dishwasher with copper mesh and spray foam to keep neighborhood pests out! After getting some eye-popping bids from contractors that wanted to do everything or nothing, we decided to DIY it and hoped for the best. We looked at all the online, RTA and big box retailers but weren't happy with the combination of quality, price and guidance we found. Fortunately, we came to Kraftmaid Vantage, Pandora and Shaw. Shaw worked with us to DIY what we could and provided help (patiently) when we asked. He had great ideas, but also listened to our ideas. He gave great guidance on configuration, color and countertops. The cabinets were professionally delivered on time. We had one damaged item and the factory didn't cut the oven cabinet correctly. Shaw sorted the problems quickly without issue. We're very happy with Kraftmaid Vantage quality and finish - particularly for about the same cost as online brands and for less than lower quality Kraftmaid product from the big box stores. Shaw also provided guidance on the quartz counter tops and arraged for their installation. His contractors were polite, professional, on-time and did beautiful work. Again, for about the same cost as the box box stores. While we aren't 100% finished (still need to install the range top in the island and some lighting), we are thrilled with the result. The last time, 2 yrs ago?), he was my go-to guy after the contract guy fr my Gas & Electric company barely looked at my AC out in the garden & told me I needed a new system. That baltimore G&E guy didn't even go into the house but told me I'd need a whole new hvac system at approx $24K. My heart dropped! I called Jim for a 2nd opinion. He noticed w/i 1.5 minutes that a wire or something was not connected on the big box outside. He reconnected things; then used a meter to check how much freon I had. He filled a refrigerant, as a favor to me. The AC was up & running great & he figured it out & fixed all in 10 minutes at 1/16 of the est. cost to replace my entire system. I can trust Jim to always steer my right. There's something special abt Jim. He has this gift of compassion. I know this as after 2016 i was in deep grief after the tragic passing of my son. My home was in disarray, my mood was jumbled & low. He sensed the chaos & the debilitating effect grief had hold on me. Despite me & my house not being at their best, he carried on & set me upright. My intuition told me he knew. I now need his expertise again, as a hose in my basement ceiling shows leaking & the AC is not cold. I will call Jim.
