Central Donuts And Bakery - The most amazing donut holes I've ever had, and I'm not overstating that. They're magical.

How much can a donut hole impress? Central Donuts sets a new standard for the answer to that…read morequestion. Donut holes are the french fries of the Donut menu. They're good, but not the reason you pick one burger place over another. Central Donuts changes the game with their Donut holes that are like a sweet angel's whisper, a puff of dreams, a melty confectionary giggle from Baby Yoda. Have I made my point yet? What in the holy mother of donuts is in these rapturous balls of joy? We literally never "go out for donuts" unless we have a car load of kids from a birthday party. For some reason, one Saturday I woke up with a hankering for an apple fritter. Yelping our way to Central Donuts based on its top Yelp rating, we ordered some jumbo sausage rolls, an apple fritter and a couple dozen holes. I eat the holes last since I think of them as filler. The fritter was exceptionally good, plenty of doughy sweet with a citrusy bite poking through. Sausage rolls come in regular and jumbo size, and a jalapeno option. The sausage rolls were enough to bring us back, dusted with a sweet butter, soft with juicy sausage filling. The jumbo size were perfect for a serving and reasonably priced. Then I popped a hole in my mouth and the universe imploded. No seating is available to speak of. We sat outside at the tables in front of Aladdin (not sure it's recommended). Service was fast and the owners are lovely. We haven't tried the coffee yet. Will update if its remarkable. We were back the following Saturday (don't tell my trainer). "For donuts?" You ask. No, for holes. Glorious holes with sausage rolls on the side.

After I moved away, I held every new donut shop's apple fritters up against theirs and none ever passed. Theirs have apple filling you can see and taste. The donut itself is on the thinner side and with crispy outer edges. I love getting the different textural bites, some crispy and crunchy and some soft and gooey. The glazed donuts and donut holes are fluffy and just melt in your mouth. They are so light and airy and there is just enough glaze to give it a sweetness without being super sweet. You can't get glazed donuts like this at just any other donut shops. I also enjoy their chocolate glazed, cinnamon rolls, and cake donuts. Sausage rolls are pretty standard. I was in the area recently and decided to stop in. Walking in, I was very pleased to see the same owners still there. They have always been super friendly and welcoming. I saw the same gentleman I remember working hard in the back making the donuts. You can even see him through an opening in the front. The kids in front of me were fascinated by him doing his work. It was cute. I got my beloved apple fritter and a few others. The fritter looked the same but honestly did not taste the way I remembered. The outer edges were crispy but the inner parts had a slight chew to it. It tasted good so perhaps just a hiccup in the cooking process. The glazed ones looked lighter in color but were just as fluffy and delicious. Still a very solid donut shop in the area!

Knew it had to be good when I pulled up and there was a good line for drive through. I ordered a dozen glazed and received a box of warm, fresh donuts. Also ordered 1/2 dozen mixed just to add options. I found pricing to be very reasonable and had very nice customer service from an older gentleman. So I brought my two boxes in all happy with myself at doing a good deed and discover someone else brought in Shipleys to share! She chose the pigs in a blanket though so we had a nice variety to offer the team. Quick, fairly priced and tasty! Sorry I forgot to take photos and when I remembered they were mostly gone!

We ordered 2 dozen chocolate sprinkled donut holes, 1 dozen chocolate donut holes, 5 sausage & cheese kolaches, 2 chocolate milks, and a blue Gatorade -- over $30 total and my husband didn't even order. Turns out the chocolate sprinkled holes don't exist, then they were also out of the regular chocolate ones, so we had to keep changing the order -- which seemed to need the manager to explain for her. After finally getting our food and pulling away, we realized the chocolate milks were missing and had to go back inside. What was supposed to be a quick, convenient stop turned into a frustrating, drawn-out process for cold, stale, overpriced food that all tasted like cardboard -- except the Gatorade and milks. Lesson learned: we'll stick to local family owned donut shops from now on. Friendlier service, fresher food, and no price gouging for what seems day-old food.

Enter Sun Donut, the most convenient donut connect for my little addiction. Melty, sugar-laced, puffy, soft, satisfying holes abound in this traditional local donuterie. Service is friendly, choices are typical, and the coffee is unremarkable, cheap, smooth and strong, just how I want it at a donut shop. Reminds me of walking through the subway stations in NYC and giving into the donut impulse on a chilly day. We enjoyed the glazed, chocolate sprinkles, an apple fritter (my favorite shortcut to a sugar coma), and some cheesy sausage rolls, all of which were strong offerings. I can walk here from my home, which is dangerous. Bring on the carbs, Sun lets me express my donut love. Will repeat!

They are sweet but not saccarine, and the prices are very competitive. By far, the kolaches are my favorite. The bread is baked perfectly, and the sausages are very flavorful and delicious. Recently, they have remodeled. Its such a cute remodel, and it looks very clean and professional. As long as they have been here, it was well earned. If you need donuts, only go with this store. Sure, you can get a reasonably decent donut anywhere, but these are by far the best in town!
