Kids getting ready for the safety lecture.
    Michael G.

Came here with the family because the son wanted to do a ropes course and Gorilla Grove was the only place that had any availability today or actually for the rest of the week. My daughter also did the ropes, and mom and dad participated in the mini golf 36 holes. So the ropes course got five stars from both kids. There was a safety lecture first as to how to properly use the climbing gear, and there are multiple courses to use in your two hour timeframe each with gradual increasing degrees of difficulty. Since the major zip line was closed for repairs, the most difficult "black" ropes course had to be closed, too. That left open yellow and blue. My daughter tackled the yellow without any issues, but succumbed to the blue and asked for staff to get her down which they did. My son also did a few areas before taking on the blue and did alright until the last couple of obstacles where #1 - glasses fell from 30' and he was without them for a bit, and #2 - arms finally went to spaghetti and he had to really struggle to complete the course. But he did! Thankfully the both of them did not have to wait for others on the same course so they hardly lost any time of their two hours. The staff on course were more than helpful to all but highly encouraging to those younger ones who wanted to come down to instead fight the fears so they could accomplish finishing. I did not see anybody having a bad time. The wife and I played two 18-hole games of mini golf; once on each course. Although we had fun, I'm giving only three stars because there is absolutely no shaded areas and if it's sunny with no clouds, you are S-O-L. We both got quite burnt. Both courses have very well kept greens, and there is a lot of sloping to keep things interesting. There's no moving obstacles, except on one hole for the right side course that actually wants you to hit it in the water. Many families were playing, but this wasn't a problem except for the immense sun beating down. We thankfully between courses went to watch our kids on the ropes and that was well shaded in the trees. Happily, you may bring your own bottled water out on the mini golf courses so this is highly recommended. They have a smallish trailer to enter when you first get there to pay for everything and sign waivers for those doing the ropes. It got quite crowded and they only had one cashier (April was extremely friendly and accommodating to all) trying to make everything right. Thankfully tempers were not ruffled as it was air conditioned in there. They also sold ice cream packages and Gatorade along with some T-Shirts. Once you paid you went to the other attendant to get your climbing harness. I believe it was $55 each for the kids on the ropes good for two hours, and $15 each for the adults to play two rounds of mini golf. So about $150 for an afternoon of fun. Three stars mini golf and five stars ropes course averages to four total stars.

From the moment we arrived, we were captivated by the vibrant atmosphere that felt both family-friendly and tailored to adults. The water park was a huge hit with our two girls, offering a wide array of slides that catered to all ages. Whether it was the thrilling rides or the relaxing wave pool, there was always something to keep the whole family entertained. One standout feature of our trip was the food. In previous resort experiences, we've often found ourselves disappointed by the dining options, but Kalahari shattered those expectations! The variety and quality of meals were truly exceptional. From quick snacks and Starbucks coffee, to gourmet meals at one of their multiple restaurants, every bite was delicious. It was refreshing to find such a diverse menu that pleased my wife, the kids, and me. We also appreciated the thoughtful layout of the resort. It was easy to find comfortable places to relax, and while it did take some hunting , we did manage to find a table each day. The array of jacuzzis was another bonus, with both family-friendly and 21-and-over options. Overall, our stay at Kalahari Resort Poconos was filled with fun and memorable moments. If you're looking for a place that offers a perfect blend of excitement and comfort, this is the spot!

Awful, too-small-for-the-bed sheets. Thin walls. Cafeteria-level food. Terrible layout where you will constantly be walking LONG stretches. LONG waits for the only two elevators running. Frustrating that they shut down elevators randomly while lines grow of frustrated parents and impatient kids. Lobby is completely mobbed after their rates for the water park goes down in the evening, blocking everything. There are so many bad decisions made here, from the structure to the day to day, but it isn't even worth detailing everything. Don't go here. And a small thing: unfortunately, this Memorial Day weekend has been rainy and foggy Sat & Sun. But this place had dozens of flags out in the rain all day and night. Just another sign of the thoughtlessness of this place.

Review only for Treetop and Zipline Adventure…read more Pretty disappointed especially since we didn't get to finish the whole adventure. There's an optional Black course at the end that we ran out of time so we ended up having to get lowered down. Our group took longer during the obstacle course intro area which was counted towards the time. The driver even came over to see what the hold up was. So we began on the actual course late. You're packed tightly into a van and driven up to the start of the Treetop Adventure. I've done another Zipline course excursion before and it included a lot of hiking whereas this one was pretty minimal. It definitely differed in safety. There seemed to only be one size harness and no one was weighed or height measured. One of the kids in the group definitely struggled to reach things. Since we were in the back we ended up helping people. Which I don't mind, I'm all for lending a hand. But on the other excursion I did there were two employees, one in the front and one in the back and I feel like that would've streamlined the process to move quicker. It was pretty inconsistent whether the instructor was in the front, back, or middle of the group. I also wish there had been some organization with the order of the group. There was another couple where the lady had done this course multiple times before and the instructor told her to go first. But the kids/teenagers wanted to be in the front of the line. They tended to be slower which slowed down the process. The kids pushed to go first and then their families followed so we ended up being stuck in the back. And the instructor didn't really enforce things. Like at the end with the optional Black course you have to get up this tricky ladder in order to be allowed on the course. You get two tries. The teen in front of us struggled and said he wanted to stop but ended up being helped up his second try, just to be immediately let down once he got up on the initial platform. Since we were running late on time my husband and I stood at the front to try to get on this last obstacle course first but the teens ended up rushing in front of us so we were again at the end. 5 of us ended up having to be let down due to time. I wasn't a huge fan of that since she actually lowered us right into a bush and I got a bunch of bug bites. Things largely depend on the group. Things just went slowly for our's and besides the ending 3 people had to be let down by the instructor (which is pretty time consuming). Another disappointing thing were the ziplines. They were pretty short and there were also some where everyone (including the instructor) stopped short and had to pull themselves to the end. At one the instructor even stayed behind to push a younger girl to help her make it further but she also stopped short. The lady who had done the courses before said she's never seen it happen this frequently. I think the lines were too slack. There's water coolers scattered around the course but no paper cups. So bring a backpack or fanny pack with a bottle. Also the lodge lost power when we got back. And we had a longer drive back so it made for an interesting bathroom visit at the end..
