Listen I'm not the type of guy who writes yelp reviews but Puja deserves it so here we go. Found Gorgeous Nails maybe 8 months ago after my girl kept telling me I needed to take care of my feet lol. Booked with Puja on a random Tuesday and now I literally wont let anyone else touch my hands or feet. I go every 3 weeks for a mani pedi and throw in a brow wax while I'm there. She just gets it. I told her first time I dont want shiny nails or anything crazy, just clean it up, and she did exactly that. Clear buff, nice and natural. My boys cant even tell I got them done they just say my hands look "different" lmao. The pedi is honestly the part I look forward to most. I'm on my feet all day for work and play ball on weekends so my feet get rough. She takes her time with the calluses, doesnt rush it, and I walk out feeling like I got new feet. Brow wax is fast and she doesnt overdo it which is huge. I had a bad experience at another spot where the lady made me look surprised for 2 weeks, never again. Puja just cleans up the middle and underneath, keeps it looking natural. Quality wise everything lasts. Feet stay smooth for like 3 weeks easy, brows grow in normal not patchy. Vibe is mad chill. I was kinda nervous the first time ngl but theres always a couple other guys in there and nobody cares. Place is clean, music is low, Puja and me just chop it up about random stuff or sometimes I just zone out on my phone. Its honestly become my little reset every few weeks. Every since the new Nepal owners took over a few years ago, the place became horrible. I came in for a gel powder manicure. They don't know what they are doing. The nails broke in less than a week and the color changed while on my nail. Obviously, the polish is old & expired. AND, this place is dirty. Ave M is full of nail salons. This is by far, the last place I would ever get service. Oh, and last... they charge more than the best salons for the worst service. Hence, all their bad reviews. read more

They were nice but after my brow wax I developed a painful red area on my eyelid that hasn't improved after 9+ hours. It feels like a mild burn, not just irritation. I'm pretty upset about it because it's uncomfortable and visible. read more

It's the perfect neighborhood nail salon. Friendly staff, regular faces, and lots of color options. I get gel manicure ($35) and gel pedicure ($45) and it lasts! Would highly recommend this place even if it's just to sit and chat with the locals and regulars. read more

Honestly, this is hands down the best salon I've been to. Special shout out to puja, who gives me the most perfect regular and gel manicures. I can tell this place doesn't thin their polishes with acetone (a common experience in other nail salons due to polishes going rancid/goopy). My nails last forever! My cuticles always look stellar. For pedicures, they throw in a complimentary heel mask in the winter. The salon is clean. Temperature checks are at the door. Limited amount of customers in the store but I've never had trouble snagging an appointment. read more

Usually I have a great experience in this salon. But this time, a woman named Nicole, gave me a mani/ pedi. I was going on a Caribbean cruise. She cut me on my big toe and it hurt my entire trip and for a week after and it became infected. That is inexcusable. In cold NY I wore socks. But when I was in the warm climate and did not wear socks, I realized my heels were coarse and scratchy. It was so annoying. I couldn't stop rubbing one foot on the other. I was pretty mad. Nicole had use the liquid exfoliant that cost $8 extra. She hadn't asked me if I agreed to it which was unusual. But I was okay with it, if it would make the bottoms of my feet smooth. I pointed out that she was missing the back of the heels, but she said she got them. She didn't. And I had given her a large tip - - for bad service. read more

I've been coming to Gorgeous Nails since they opened. After moving away in 2006 I only returned sporadically. Returning at the end of December 2015 I was surprised that many of the same nail technicians were still there and they remembered me! The salon looks different since they have recently renovated. They also now use disposable liners for the pedicure basins for improved hygiene. They do excellent work and offer a very reasonable price for the services they have. read more

Terrible gel manicure job. Paid $25 for half assed cuticle cut, messed up almost every nail she did, going back to clean off excess polish after each application. Definitely was NOT worth $25 I was going to go to Moss nails a few blocks down first, but couldn't wait 45 minutes so I decided to try this place. They charge the same price for a much better job. Seriously, it's a $13.50 pedicure. You're not going to get a hot rock massage with it or come out feeling like you just had a heavenly experience. But it's a $13.50 pedicure and I have yet to find anywhere in NYC that's cheaper. cheap, quick, the bare minimum of what you need. If you want fancy go elsewhere. read more

I have been to this place twice. The first time I came here, I called and verified closing time and asked how much a simple manicure and pedicure would cost me. The woman told me they close at 8 pm and it costs $20.80, I asked her if I could come in and she said yes. Thank god I stay close by because it was a waste of my time. First off, I walk in and I'm just standing there, they didn't even acknowledge that I was there. Secondly, when they finally do notice me, I told them I had called and came in for a mani/pedi. Mind you, they had enough workers and said they couldnt do it, even though They said it was okay to come in. I called at 6pm and was there by 6:10 pm almost 2 HOURS until closing time. I decided to give it a second attempt about a week later. I went earlier this time so this way there would be no excuses. I walked in yet again and asked for a mani/pedi and they told me to come back within 30 minutes even though there was two workers sitting around talking and doing nothing, but I was patient and came back. The manicure and pedicure was okay. Service was mediocre. Although $20 isn't steep for a Mani/pedi, I feel like there is cheaper and you can definitely get better. My 5 year old niece can do my nails just as good. Waste of my $20. P.s. I'm not into fancy shmancy spa like nail salons. But if you are, don't come here. I've been here twice and I'm currently writing this right after my second experience. The only reason why I gave it another shot was because it's right outside my house. Although it's convenient for me, I will not be going back. I received the same Korean lady both times and both times she was very rough and rude. I am bleeding on my ring finger and pinky as I am writing this. I am not pleased with their service. I recommend not coming to this one if you want to keep your fingers. read more

5-31-16 So I went in here (The salon on Ave. J) on a Tuesday with my little sister right after school. So, luckily it wasn't too busy. Besides the lack of a waiting room, the atmosphere was really nice, it was clean and well organized. The manicure was really good and the manicurist, Nancy (the owner, I think?) was super sweet and kind. Overall, I will definitely be coming back and recommending this to all my friends. read more

If a place doesn't accept credit card the usually put a sign letting their patrons know. Here in middle of my manicure I was informed of this. This resulted in me running around ave j looking for cash back wasting time and money I don't have. not only were they not apologetic they blamed me. I asked them that in the future they could put up a sign or something as usual they were rude about it.If you don't relish running around ave j in middle of a manicure or rude service do not come here. read more
