My experience at Glorious Nail Art on October 8th at approximately 4:30 PM was extremely…read moredisappointing\. I arrived straight from work, excited to try a new salon I had discovered on TikTok\. I requested Gel\-X French tips with cat\-eye polish and a pedicure with repairs to two toenails\. The receptionist quoted me a price, and I paid upfront\. She did not ask to see a reference picture before beginning the service\.
After I showed the nail technician my reference picture, she explained that Gel\-X would not work because the tip was too slim\. She recommended builder gel with different tips for an additional $10, which I agreed to and paid directly to her\.
When the technician and receptionist returned, the receptionist claimed I had not requested a cat\-eye base and thought I wanted cat\-eye polish only on the French tips\. I calmly clarified that I wanted the design shown in my reference picture, with the cat\-eye effect as the base\. Instead of handling the misunderstanding professionally, she told me I owed another $5, despite my having already paid the technician $10\. She repeatedly asked, **"Do you want to do it or not?"**
As I retrieved the additional money, she stood over me, stared at me, and spoke in a language I could not understand\. I found the interaction uncomfortable but still paid the extra $5\. When I requested a receipt, I was told they do not provide receipts\.
Because the receptionist continued speaking to me in an unwelcoming and pressuring manner, I decided not to proceed\. When I calmly said I wanted to stop, she immediately offered to refund my money, seeming more interested in dismissing the situation than resolving it professionally\.
The issue was not simply the pricing misunderstanding\. I was willing to pay the additional $10 for the recommended service; the problem was how the situation was handled\. Asking to see my reference picture at the beginning and communicating clearly could have prevented the entire experience\.
I was also the only person of color in the salon, which made the interaction feel even more uncomfortable\. I noticed that the salon's social media designs did not appear to showcase clients of color\. While I cannot speak to the salon's intentions, feeling singled out, combined with the receptionist's dismissive behavior and the lack of professionalism, left me questioning whether I was genuinely welcome\.
I came prepared to support a new business, paid upfront in good faith, communicated calmly, and was willing to accommodate a service change\. Instead, I felt pressured and unwelcome\.
**I would not recommend Glorious Nail Art based on my experience\.** No customer should feel uncomfortable or pressured while trying to receive a service they have paid for\. I hope management takes this feedback seriously and addresses how customers are treated, as this experience has completely discouraged me from returning\.
