I rarely write reviews, but I would hate for someone to go through the hassle of visiting other shops when I know Gordon James is simply the best. I'm a perfectionist, and the experience and final product were actually perfect. I was told by two other well-known, highly-rated local jewelry shops that that they could not correct the issues with my ring. Thankfully, my appraiser recommended GJ - his choice for custom jewelry settings, repairs, etc. After talking with Dan (very knowledgeable!) and the exceptionally talented jeweler, I discovered that they had the necessary equipment (a highly sophisticated laser) and expertise to address my problems with the ring! The communication with Dan throughout the process was excellent, and the jeweler delivered a perfect, handcrafted result despite the laborious, complex task at hand. I want to leave another review to make things clear for people who are thinking to purchase from this place. If you go to any jewelry store, even a place like shane co, for example, which is a chain jewelry store unlike this place which is a supposed to be a special family owned business, and you purchase a ring from them, when you come in for your annual ring check, they will never question why you need to polish your ring or why you need to tighten a prong, they will do it at no cost, every time, this has always been my experience and is totally normal for jewelry stores and absolutely not the case at Gordon James. They charged a large amount to just polish my ring and tighten a prong, without even telling me ahead of time. It is one thing to charge for severly mishandled jewelry, but for a polish and a prong check, it is obsurd. I regret getting my ring made there because now I will have to go to another place to polish and check my prongs because this place didn't offer me a warranty that any jeweler offers when you purchase a wedding ring. This store has much higher prices so they should be offering better customer service, otherwise what's the point of paying more for bad service. read more

I am shocked that someone who owns/runs this type of business can speak to potential customers in this manner and think that they can still keep people coming in. They did a beautiful job repairing my grandmothers delicate opal and diamond ring. They did it faster and for less expensive then quoted. They also were so great about another old delicate garnet ring I brought it to be cleaned. Unfortunately because of how old it is, it cannot go into the cleaner machine, however they gave me a cleaning pen that really has been working magic on it. read more

Gordon & Gretchen James made me the most stunning diamond engagement ring. It is very unique and very sparkly. It has 3 large emerald cut stones surrounded my smaller stones. My friends are all very complimentary. I went back and bought my husbands custom wedding ring from Gordon as well. I have never seen this ring on anyone else except Gordon himself. Gordon James really saved my wedding ring! I had a side baguette fall out recently, but was new to the state and didn't know where to go to get it fixed. Sadly, I went to another jeweler in town and they really messed it up. It was a little noticable just looking at it, so I happened into Gordon James one day to get a second opinion. John took a look at it and showed me the repair work under the microscope. I was horified at what a terrible job the other jeweler did and I wanted to cry. He was so upset about me getting swindled that he immediately took my ring and swore to do a 100x better job. 2 days later I picked up the ring and was so happy with the job he'd done.
