It was unavoidable: my 2015 Prius needed new tires. The previous set were 6 years old and that's 42 years in dog years, isn't it? I was able to get a 25% discount through my insurance company on Goodyear tires and this shop was a qualified installer. When I showed up for an appointment, Jason, the manager, efficiently processed everything relating to the tires. I also asked about a brake fluid flush and fill, as well as coolant, both of which they were able to do then and there and at a price at least 30% below what the Toyota dealership had quoted. They also, upon my request, checked the brake linings as I thought that, at the ten year mark, I might need new pads but according to their mechanic, the car was still at a safe level so I can wait a while for that. I also don't drive all that much so that might also contribute to the condition of the brakes. I appreciate that they didn't try to upsell and scare me into thinking I needed to drop some 800$ on 4 brake liners. (Toyota have quoted an estimate of some $1200. No surprise there. But I think everyone knows that a dealership will be pricier than an independent shop. ) Bonus feature is that there is free tire rotation and brake check. In sum, I was sold on returning to Goodyear Auto Service and am happy to know of somewhere reliable for service that is not the Toyota service and dealership out on Auto Row on Jackson. read more

I went to Goodyear with the plan that I was going to get an alignment done. They took a look at my car and decided that I needed two new tires so I said ok let's get it done. They didn't have them in stock so they had to order them. I went home they called when they were in. I came back they took my car in. They decided that they couldn't put these tires on because I had two rims that were cracked, so then they proceeded to look for rims And proceeded to tell me the cost would be 500 for each rim, I'm thinking 4 rims I'm looking at 2,000 plus 2 tires I know no way in hell is that my only option yet they kept trying to sell that line to me. I even said I don't need the exact ones on the vehicle right now which is a Yukon so we are looking at 22 inch rims they are not cheap but I'm not buying a top grade a custom rim I'm a woman but I'm not stupid ! Yes I thought I needed an alignment let's not pair that with stupidity! They told me to call junkyard so I did that but I need to wait till Monday to talk to someone so they could keep their eye out then they told me that the junkyards probably gonna charge me just about the same really a junk yard? that they aren't going to go much lower the whole time I was there he had rant about where I had gotten my last two tires they couldn't believe it. Not to mention they couldn't believe they didn't tell me my rims where cracked. That I should have just came to them. Prior to all of this I went to discount tire right off Jackson road and the only reason why I didn't go to them is because I thought I needed an alignment! But I went back to them right after all of this and explained my situation and they had me setup with rims for 140$ a piece and 2 new tires of good quality and out the door in no time. I left stress free, and very happy of my purchase not only that, the man actually genuinely seemed like he cared and was very determined to be of help! But GOODYEAR since I was not settling for 500$ rims handed me my keys and practically told me there is nothing we can do for you! Unless you have the money to blow on what they try to sell to you be my guest but they are not in the business to be helpful if they have to do any type of looking around they won't! go somewhere that will help you find a good deal! and not make you feel lower than low as a mom with 2 boys walking out feeling like I accomplished nothing was the worst! Very honest and on the ball location. They pointed out some idiosyncracies with my BMW's alignment procedure that I've never had mentioned at other shops, and I'm certain that the other places I've taken it in the past did not follow. They do work well, and don't suggest work that isn't needed / worthwhile, or that they can't do to spec(like BMWs loaded alignment). So you get all that, and the prices are good. read more

My truck broke down over the weekend. I had a broken ball joint and a messed up tie rod. So, it wasn't operable. I Googled the closest tow companies and Goodyear actually offers a fairly cheap option so long as you have them repair it. So, I opted to get them to repair it because it was close and I didn't have many other options. I call in and set up the tow, it took about 20 minutes to complete the process (4:45am). That is all of the good stuff I have to say about the towing. Cheap and quick process. Here is the bad... they told me it is on average about 90 minutes to till the order. The two hour mark comes up and nothing yet (5:40am), so, I call back and check in... they ensure me someone is coming within the hour. At this point I decided to crawl into my back seat and lay down. I ended up falling asleep and wake up at 9:30am. I now decided to walk to the Goodyear location that was supposed to be open, but wasn't. I call back a third time, this time around the lady at the desk assured me this was very rare. She called in a tow truck that said they would be there by 11:20am. 10:40 rolls around and the service gets cancelled and transferred to another company that promised to be there by noon. Ultimately, it took 6 hours and 37 minutes to get tower less than 1000 feet. Easily the worst service I have ever had. I give the towing portion easily 1 star. However, the guys at Goodyear had my truck fixed within hours the next day, so it was serviced quickly and they were all polite. So the service portion would get 5 stars.... but due to the towing I split it in down the middle at 3/5 and that is generous for the time I waited. read more

We bought tires there in 2008. At the time, I was told that I would get free wheel balancing. Fast forward four years ... while we were changing from winter wheels & tires to the summer set, my husband noticed that one of the wheel weights had fallen off. My husband found the original receipt and had me take it with me to the store. I called ahead and was told, come on in -- any time. Good thing I had brought the receipt ... we had been cleared from the store computer! The receipt was our only proof of purchase. It took about half an hour before they could get to my van. Not a problem, except that the place reeks of rubber. The waiting area is not very comfortable. There are chairs arranged in a small square area in a corner. The TV is very large, and looms over the area. The volume was too loud for my sensitive ears. Fortunately, I keep ear plugs in my purse for just such an emergency. I read my book. There was a large man who had trouble fitting in the chairs. He said so. I told him they ought to have a couch in the waiting area. That would make it more comfortable for people who aren't standard size. I had my dog with me, and they let her wait with me. She is well-behaved in public. After nearly two hours, I was getting a headache and grateful to get out of there. The person doing the wheel balance put the summer wheels/tires on the van and put the winter set in the back of the van. I never asked or expected that. It saved me some trouble. The really good thing that came out of this experience is that the mechanic noticed that there was a lot of slack in the suspension--a dangerous amount. Yes, the vehicle is twelve years old, and my husband has been doing repairs. But hubby doesn't have a way to pick up the entire van at once, so he never noticed the looseness. I told them I was very grateful for them to point that out. Goodyear gave us a quote for the suspension repair. In view of the rubber fume headache and the cost of the quote, we decided to go elsewhere. Yes, I agree with the previous reviewer. Pricey. I will rely on Goodyear for support of my tires, but that's all. read more

My tire had a slow leak, so I took it here. The guy told me they could have it fixed that afternoon. Sure enough, he called two hours later and it was ready to go. It turns out I had nails (!) in the tire. They cleaned those out and patched up the tube for the quoted price. No complaints. I booked an appointment for my Chrysler 200 to have its tires replaced (the existing tires were worn down and I wanted better traction for snow and ice). The staff there confused my appointment with that of another customer, who bought the last four tires of that brand in stock. As such, I had to return the following day. The manager, John, apologized for the mix-up and installed higher price tires at the same price I was quoted for my original selection. A bit disappointing. I'm from out of town, just completed an expensive ($4 gas!) cross-country drive. Now I'm heading back to Cali. I usually have Goodyear do my service and have been satisfied elsewhere, so I went to the local Goodyear here. It was *way* more expensive for an oil change than anywhere else I've gone. And, *of course* they put the scare tactics on me about other services to have done to my car. I hate that. In the end, too expensive for my taste. I first chose Goodyear because it was close to where I live, but I've since sworn off the place for two reasons. First, their prices for snow tire installation are higher than the competition in the area--and that includes dealerships. Second, they like to throw in brake inspection, which, of course, is. bid to get you to do more than change a set of tires. Most people just want the services they pay for. Third--and this is the thing that sent me elsewhere--they failed to keep an appointment made days in advance. The person at the front desk cited someone walking out and only one mechanic on duty. What this tells me is that they store may be understaffed and not run efficiently. read more

This is the best autocenter in Ann Arbor. First time I have felt I could 1000% trust the staff to take care of my car and not try to meddle unnecessary parts and services. I have my oil changed here every time. I also ask for them to rotate my tires when needed every time, and they only do so and charge me when it is appropriate. If they offer me a service and I say no, they never push it. Then I call my husband who is a car inspector and he tells me to do it. They have never tried to sell me something I don't need, which is more than I can say for the other places that tried to trick me into replacing my brakes and battery. Plus the staff are kind, courteous, professional, and tend to recognize you on sight after your first visit. I will NOT take my car or business to anyone else. read more

I scheduled an appointment to have a tire leak checked out. (The kind they say they'll fix free if it's a minor issue.) I showed up ten minutes early for my appointment, and the guy looked at me and asked, "Didn't you get my message?" I pulled out my phone, and there were no messages. I showed it to him. "Well, I left you a message." He told me they triple-booked my appointment time, I was now getting bumped, and I'd have to wait "a couple hours" before they'd get to me. Even if he did leave message (which I doubt--I never received one), why are they triple-booking? If I were a betting man, I'd bet they bumped my possibly free fix for someone who they'd make money from. I got no explanation, and no apology. I just walked out, and I won't be returning. read more

I had a terrible experience with this location. I took my car in for an oil change a couple weeks ago, and the mechanic told me that my sway bar was broken - a $300 repair - which I told him I would prefer to shop around for. I later took my car to Fox Auto Parts in Belleville, where I was told that it was only the left sway bar link that needed replacing - an $80 repair including labor. From now on, I will be getting my oil changed elsewhere. read more
