Dear Customer Relations, I am writing to express my disappointment with the service I received at the Goodyear located on Wolf Road in Albany, New York. My experiences fell well below the level of customer service I expect from a company with Goodyear's reputation. On 9/27/2025, I was advised that my car needed several repairs in order to pass inspection. One of those such repairs was rear brake pads and rotors, which I had replaced. The cost for parts and labor was $549.99 with a warranty of 24 months or 24,000 miles. I was also told that the car needed a left inner tie rod and a left outer tie rod. I paid $289.99 for the left inner tie rod and $99.99 for the left outer tie rod. The customer number associated with this repair is 0131000961 and the invoice number is 0000066041. On 3/16/2026, I returned to the same location for additional repairs, one of which was the replacement of the battery. The cost was $240.99 plus $44.99 for the installation package, with a warranty of 48 months free replacement. The corresponding customer number is 0131000961 and the invoice number is 0000067984. On 6/19/2026, I returned to the same location because the back tire appeared to be locked and I was planning to drive the car to Maryland. The sales rep advised me that I needed several repairs, including, but not limited to a new battery and rear brake pads and rear rotors in order to safely drive the car from New York to Maryland. I had a new battery installed, which cost $240.99 plus a $44.99 installation fee and rear brake pads and rear rotors totaling $549.99. The battery had a 48-month warranty and the brakes and rotors, a 24 month or 24,000-mile warranty. The corresponding customer number is 013101459 and work order number is 0000028643. The next day, 6/20/2026, I left Albany, NY and proceeded to travel to Maryland. I got onto the NYS Thruway at Exit 24. The car began to lose power a few miles beyond Exit 19. I was able to guide the car to the shoulder of the thruway without incident. The car would not start, so I called Perry's Towing in Kingston, NY, who towed the car to Mavis Auto in Kingston. To my surprise, I was informed that I needed a new battery because the alternator had failed and drained the battery. The laborers at Mavis were flabbergasted at the fact that I had just had the battery replaced the day prior by Goodyear and no one checked to see if the alternator was failing before replacing the battery. Mavis replaced the battery and alternator, and I made it safely to Maryland. Upon getting to Maryland, I took the car to Shell Gas Station for an inspection. The mechanic advised that there were several issues, one of which was that the tie rod needed to be removed because it was installed on the wrong side of the car. I called the Goodyear in Albany, NY to find out (1) why I was charged for a new battery on 6/19/2026, when the battery I purchased on 3/26/2026 was still under warranty, (2) why I was charged for rear brakes and rotors on 6/19/2026 when the rear brakes and rotors I purchased on 9/27/2025 were still under warranty and (3) why they did not check the alternator before replacing the battery on 6/19/2026. The sales representative informed me that he wasn't able to retrieve a record of my prior visits to Goodyear, but if he had known at the time, he never would have charged me for a new battery. He advised me to try and return the battery to a Goodyear location in Maryland and if I was not able to do so, to give him a call. I called Goodyear in Maryland and was informed they could not accept the battery, nor could they give me a refund because they were not the source store. I called the sales rep at the Albany store to let him know and he said, "don't worry about it. I will make sure the amount is refunded to your card." He told me to expect a call from him the following week. To date I have not heard from him, nor has he returned my calls. As for the rear brakes and rotors, the sales rep advised they were no longer under warranty because the car "sat and was not driven." He also said they checked the alternator before replacing the battery, though given the level of customer service, I'm not certain that is true. I didn't bother mentioning anything about placing the tie rod on the wrong side of the car because I really don't think the individuals at this location care. I also called Goodyear customer service and was left on hold with no response. What is most disappointing is not only the improper charges, but also the lack of communication and customer care. I made multiple efforts to have this issue addressed, yet my concerns have not been handled in a satisfactory manner. As a loyal customer, I expected transparency, accountability and a willingness to correct what appears to be incompetence and negligence. I had to purchase one tire and I called and specifically gave the exact numbers and letters on the tire. My car was new so I did not want a similar tire. I wanted the exact same tire. I was quoted a price. I repeatedly asked if it was a identical and I was told that yes it was. Only when I got home did I find out that it was a similar tire but not identical. My car only has 3000 miles on it so I want matching tires. They were not ultimately able to supply an identical tire with similar numbers and letters. DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE, even under new management!! They rip you off and tell you things need to be done, when YOU don't. They told me I had 4 lights out. 2 front running and 2 side markers and wanting to charge me $181, but never told me it would be $59 each set of light bulbs put in and $16.99 each pack of lights. I refused and they failed my car. I went outside and my running lights were fine! They never turned them on the right setting, even though I told them how to do it and the bulbs they wanted to charge me 16.99 plus labor &59.99 were $6 up the road. $10 to get my car reinspected you rip off King Goodyear! My Nieghbor in Albany also went there after having her breaks done 2 months prior. They told her she needed new breaks, rotors and calipers and failed her inspection. She never needed any of those! Was just passing through and about to leave town when we heard a loud constant noise that I thought might be wheel bearings. I called and Ken answered. He got our Subaru in quickly and they found that our tires were wearing dangerously thin, and the bearings were ok. Tires quickly changed and brake pads replaced and we were quickly and safely on our way. Ken was exceptionally kind and professional, and an excellent communicator. Buyer beware! If they say the tires you are purchasing are subject to a rebate please verify with corporate first. I was told the the Assurance Weather Ready 2 were covered under the July to September rebate but when I submitted, the rebate employee for the company said this model was not subject to the rebate, Only the plain Assurance Weather Ready were subject to this rebate, However, the new October to December rebate covers them which did not help me any. I was lied t at the establishment on Wolf Road and purchased 4 very expensive tires. There are other places near that location that I could have gone to. It's an OK place, but I wish the communication process was a lot better and on top of things when a job cannot be done on a timely basis. It would make it a lot smoother and I would be more comfortable in dealing with the shop, if i could plan around them. Made a 9 am appointment just for tires and an alignment because I had to wait . Got there at 10 of 9 Checked in. It took 4 hours. I think it took at least 2 hours just to get it in the grage. What's the since of making appointments. They should tell people it's first come first serve. I would have got there at 7:30 when they opened. It's Goodyear, tires are its core business. Shelly the manager spent an hour tracking down the receipt of my online tire purchase. she was so patient and bent over backwards to work with corp to approve my credit toward new tires. she is probably the best manager I have dealt with in the last 10 years at any business. Selected the tires, selected the location on Wolf Road, picked the time and all was confirmed on the website and follow up email. I show up to the appointment to leave the car, and the worker at the counter said " yeah we don't have the tires you asked for" nor did they have anything comparable. Then he tries to sell me an all season tire. Brain dead. You mean to tell me that which all the mouth breathers working there, no one is checking the appointments coming up and making sure the tires are there? This is a tire company for God sake. They were there when I needed them in a pinch and got me back on the road faster then anyone around Excellent service! I blew out a tire first thing in the morning. I called around to several places and the soonest anyone could even start to help me was later in the afternoon. When I walked into this location I was greeted right away and after gathering information about my car and what I needed, they started working right away. My tire size was not available at the shop but they placed the order and had them delivered in an hour and started putting them on my car as soon as they got there. I was back on the road in 2.5 hours after replacing the tires and aligning all 4 wheels. I was informed every step of the way and really appreciated how quick and efficiently I was taken care of. I walked in this past Saturday for a car inspection. The man simply replied "sorry, we're all booked up today" in a somewhat annoyed tone. He didn't offer to make me an appointment. Just that he can't take me today. I get that these places are understaffed and a little stressed because of covid, but I can't stand when customer service personnel aren't solution oriented or at least polite. Terrible, bizarre experience at this shop. In November of 2020 I brought my Ioniq Plug-in to check my driver side tire air leak. While there, I also added an oil change. They had the car for an hour and a half, could not locate a leak, however, did an oil change. Fast forward to May 2021, I noticed oil drops on my driveway. When I removed the filter cover, I saw the obvious problem. They did not remove the factory Hyundai oil filter, completely mutilated it, but left it in place without telling me. When I contacted Good Year manager on Monday morning, he wasn't very receptive, however, agreed to see the car on Friday that week. I explained that oil flow was increasing by the day, especially while driving and he agreed to get me in on Tuesday 8 AM. When I arrived, I parked the car in front of an empty bay door. The manager came out and rudely told me to move the car. I attempted to explain that I'm not trying to start any trouble and I am the person that called yesterday, however, he rudely interrupted me and said that even if I start trouble, he will get me arrested by sheriff deputies that were servicing their cars later that day. This was all very odd, explained only by a little man having a power trip, however, he later agreed to swap the filter and top off the oil without even saying as much as a sorry. Of course, they did not wipe off the excess oil after the new filter was put on, so I had to clean it up myself. I am still trying to absorb the whole experience, trying to determine if I was at fault somehow. I don't change oil often, since I drive very little and 99% are EV miles. Was it my fault that the filter canister rusted through 6 months later and started to drip now? Would experience be any different if it started to drip 1 month later? In any case, I don't understand how a national chain can employ individuals like this, from top to bottom. What other shortcuts do they find acceptable when servicing their costumers' vehicles? read more

When you are traveling for work and live 200 miles away AND your car breaks down ... it can really be a nightmare. I was thinking the worst. Thankfully my husband was close to Goodyear on Wolf Rd- it was nothing of a nightmare at all! The gentlemen that helped him (I believe Rob and John) were able to diagnose, get the parts, and the work done under the time estimated so my husband could come home and spend time with his family before heading out again next week. I needed my inspection so my husband had me make an appointment here. Had to reschedule as they were backed up. Went back a week later and was in a rush, they were not only courteous, but they finished the inspection quickly. I ended up needing new tires to pass, which I knew would be necessary as driving across country a year ago puts a ton of wear on the already worn tires. They were not recommending things I knew I didn't need which was great! They had everything done and ready to drive in a little over an hour. I will definitely be back, the drive is convenient from work to jump right on the highway off Wolf Rd. Went in recently for my NYS inspection, and was in and out in about an hour. Service was friendly, and the waiting area was clean. Of course, after my inspection was done I was told I "needed" some other work done (new air filter, new tires, etc.), but told them my husband could easily do those, and my answer was accepted. I am extremely disgusted with the service I received at Good Year Newnan Station 1273 Hwy 34 E Newnan, GA 30265. I went in Friday 7/21 to get my AC, tire, & breaks fixed. I stayed for 5 hours while they worked on my car little by little (moving it in & out of the repair garage). Every time I thought my car was finished, one front desk person, Julie, would tell me that she was waiting on the paperwork to close me out and that it was done, while, Dan, would tell me that they were still working on my car and they just parked it out front for a while. Since no one inside was on the same page, I had to go outside to speak to a mechanic. As an African American female I just feel as though there was no urgency to give me any information nor was there any urgency to get the work completed. I'm not saying that this happens daily. I'm saying that the lack of communication & attention shows my business wasn't appreciated. After being told by both, Dan and Julie, that my car was ready, I paid $568.86. When they pulled my car up, the windows were down & the vents were blowing but not cold air. The mechanic told me to give it a few mins and it would "kick in". I assumed that when he took my car for a drive after "fixing" everything that he would have checked for the AC as well. I guess he was impatient & didn't drive it around long enough to make sure the AC was working properly. I stay only a few miles from the location so I didn't have a far drive & due to my schedule being adjusted after waiting at Good Year, I couldn't ride around long. However, that's irrelevant because when you go to a so called reputable company & pay for services, you think you're good to go right? NO! Not at Good Year. I am sure many women have been told to just give it a few minutes & assumed their work was completed. Later Friday, I had to go to work in Atl. I turned on the AC, it's blowing hot air. My employer is 43 mins from my home in Newnan. During the entire drive, I left the AC on but it never got cold. Saturday morning, I went back to Good Year & saw that they are closed Saturdays & Sundays. I would have to wait until Monday to get my AC looked at AGAIN, after waiting 5 hours Friday & being lied to that it was fixed. Monday, I called & spoke to Dan. I left my car in Atlanta because it was over 90 degrees & too hot to drive w/o AC. Early 7/23 morning I picked up my car & took it back to Good Year. Dan & Julie pretended to empathize with me & told me that my AC should have been working. After waiting an hour, I asked Julie if they'd figured out why my AC still wasn't working. She told me that she was "putting together a price" for me now. My response: What do you mean you are putting a price together for me? I just came in Friday & told you all my AC was not working and you all allowed me to leave, after saying it was fixed. I need to speak to a manager. She called the "manager" Jennifer. Jennifer spoke to Julie quietly while I waited for her attention. I explained to her that I was here the past Friday & said my AC was broken. You lied to me, saying that my AC was working & it's not. Jennifer's response: well when it comes to the AC, we have to run a test & the results will show up from this dye that we use. You will have to drive it around for a few days, then bring it back. Now that you have brought it back in, we see that you have a leak. The leak means you need a new part. Me: So you mean to tell me that I only paid for a test to be ran on my AC and the actual AC was never fixed. Jennifer: Yes. The AC was not fixed. (She continues to try to explain how the dye works. She then admits that "someone" should have told me that my AC wasn't fixed & about the test). Me: As a woman, I am not sure how these things work. I can only tell you what problems I have & trust you, the owner of a reputable company, to give me desired results. Jennifer & Julie are looking at the computer & Julie tells me that the part I need is going to be $602 & can be here in 3 days. What kind of customer service is this!? First you LIE to me & now you're offering me a part for $602 because now you KNOW this is what I need?! They would have NEVER tried a male like this. AS A WOMAN who isn't in the auto industry, Jennifer & Julie knew that once I drove off, after being told it was fixed, I believed them. Jennifer & Julie was very nonchalant as if she didn't understand why I was upset. Horrible ownership. TRAIN YOUR STAFF! HIRE HONEST PPL! I guess I can't expect too much when ownership is a liar as well huh? GOOD YEAR DOES NOT APPRECIATE THE FEMALE DOLLAR. BE CAREFUL WHEN GETTING YOUR CAR SERVICED LADIES, "WAITING A FEW MINUTES" MAY MEAN PAYING FOR A TEST & HAVING TO RETURN. I pray corporate sees this & fix the situation. I brought my car to get a flat tire repaired. I was told the screw stuck in my tire was in the perfect spot to fix but the hole was to big to fix and I would need a new tire. I asked them to put the spare on. I went to Mavis tire in Troy and they said the same thing, the screw punctured the tire in the best spot possible to fix. However they said it was repairable and even though they had the $200+ tire in stock they fixed the flat for $20.00. Thanks for trying to rip me off Goodyear, maybe you will be successful in ripping off the next customer, I'm sure you have a lot of practice. VERY UNTRUSTWORTHY. Came in for an oil change and tire rotation. While sitting here (for 1.5 hours and counting) they have approached every customer explaining they have found over $1k worth of maintenance needed. Last time they tried saying I need $1200 worth of work. When I confirmed with my dealership they laughed and said Goodyear was trying to get money out of me and none of the work was needed. To top it off, they have left rags under the hood every time I've been here. I will never come back again! My 2014 Volvo broke down in Troy after on a Sat. had it towed to Goodyear as Volvo dealer service was closed. Diagnosed alternator failure and informed me car was under warranty and recommended warranty service at the local dealer.
