One of the older Goodwill stores in the South area of Sac. I don't come here often but had some time to kill the other day so I came looking for books and DVDs (yes I'm old school). This store is pretty big. Not in the best area, I wouldn't suggest coming by yourself after dark, especially ladies, that's just my take. Tons of clothes for all ages like most thrift stores. I don't shop for those much so I skipped them this time too. I ended up looking for some board and card games and ended up finding a pretty cool puzzle and also a basic compound bow that I'm going to try with my kids at an archery range. The wife looked it up and it is a good brand and a bit pricey online, but it wasn't priced, so we asked and got it for a great price. Score. Didn't see any good DVDs this time, but there's always changing stock so it's cool to come in and look around once in awhile just to see what's new. The store is actually ok clean and really big, and the checkout was quick. So all in all, still a good store. read more

4.75/5! This is a really big goodwill located in Elk Grove! It's in a strip mall next to a lot of other businesses! It was clean and I think they had a really good selection! The women's dress selection was huge! They also had a lot of men's stuff, and home stuff! Up front near the check out they had some items in the glass case. After browsing around forever and not finding anything I wanted I decided to look at the glass area. That's when I found a coach bag in damn near perfect condition! It was $24 dollars and I looked it up to make sure it was real and it was! Thanks thrift gods.. this is a nice goodwill! read more

I crossed GW off of my thrifting rounds years ago. Came in here on a whim looking for Fall decor. I found it, but at high-class retail prices for mediocre stuff. Still over pricing donated stuff, still over stuffing shelves and racks. There was a homeless man sleeping on a chair in the tiny furniture section, shoes off, he was comfy. There was a man working through the donation center that told me they don't take any water filters. I don't see why not any other goodwill I've been too has. But this man in particular had the nastiest attitude and he told me to quote "put the doohickey in the car little bro" I couldn't believe it I was going to ask for a manger to sort things out right there but a line of cars formed behind me. Convenient to drop off used items but will not accept the rug that meets guidelines. My used rug is 5x7 and they said it has to be new because of sanitary what's the point of having a guideline if you can't accept it. Just say no rugs period. read more

I always keep donation centers in the back of my mind because I always seem to have accumulated stuff at home that I no longer have use for. Instead of throwing perfectly usable items away and needlessly adding to the landfill situation, my hopes are that someone else can make use of them instead. Clothes and shoes are often things that get overpopulated at my house. But now I have been faced with a very sad and heartbreaking reality when my mom recently passed away. She was a shopaholic and hoarder. Most of her things were nice and practically new. Most of her clothes still had price tags on them. We can't keep all of her stuff, and it is too overwhelming to take the time to sell everything. It's such a help to find a place like Goodwill who will accept most of our items. It's been somewhat hard giving so much away. Antiques, clothes, shoes, jewelry, purses, books, kitchenware, glasses, dishes, towels, blankets, sheets, and the list goes on! They also accepted some of my mom's wheel chairs, transport chairs and walkers, all in good condition! This is just one of many Good Will Donation Centers we have visited. When we show up with truck loads of future merchandise, well, they too have been overwhelmed.... I still miss my mom, but the extreme length of her hoarding has finally come to a reality for our family! read more

I got to this place a lot to donate stuff, such as clothes and books. They're usually pretty quick with taking in donated items. This goodwill location has a lot of puzzles and board games. They are usually in perfect condition. Sometimes there are games and puzzles that were never opened, like the "That's so Raven" puzzle I found there. I found an American Girl Molly board game there in great condition too. The book selection is smaller than the book selection at the Goodwill on Elk Grove Blvd. This location still have a decent selection of books. I found a cool Dinosaur encyclopedia book for the kids at work. It was only $3 and in perfect condition. Another book I was happy to find was the Freedom Writers books for only $2 and in good condition. Online the book is $30. read more

I usually go to Goodwill to check out their book selections. The books here are pretty sad. It's a very small section and they have books stacked in front of eachother and high up in the shelf. I'm short so its hard to grab the books even on my tip toes. Alot of the books were tattered, old, and the selections were very limited. If you're into books like me, I would skip this store. read more

My boyfriend and I on several occasions have entered this particular goodwill store and have been greeted by several very rude employees. Stopping us at the front at the front door demanding that we put the mask completely over our face. We shopped at this Goodwill many times. This store has progressively gone downhill over the years. Today's visit surprised me more than when I came here last year. The store was crowded but a complete mess. There were items that are worth $4 in Walmart being sold for $8.99 in here. Then there were items marked at full price when the full product wasn't even in the packaged. Not sure who figures the pricing at this location but they should really get someone else to do it. Then along with the overstuffed shelves, items on the floor in all aisles (even clothing) it just seemed that the workers didn't care. It was sad. I spent about 15 minutes in the store and left empty handed because the mess was just so frustrating. read more

Been a fan of Goodwill ever since I found out how much they sell their books for. It surprises me when I find a book that doesn't seem to have any creases on the binding! I feel like I hit the jack pot. The prices of the books at this store are the same as the Goodwill I use to go to in WA , so there's no surprise there. Children hardbacks are $1.49, children paperbacks are $.99, adult hardbacks are $2.49, and adult paperbacks are $1.49. Sometimes I'll stumble upon some children's books that are $.69, but it's rare. Parking is not an issue here. Being that this Goodwill is fairly new, there's not that many people that browse around the store. That's probably a good thing for now. But I'm sure when it gets busy, it'll be hard to navigate the aisles. When you enter the store, you're immediately greeted by customer service associates. It's great to feel welcomed! It's very well organized, everything is in its own section, and has their own label. I really haven't bought much at Goodwill besides books. But when I have the time and patience to rummage through things, I'll definitely start here. :) read more

Terrible place to work and shop. Bathrooms are filthy and NEVER cleaned. I know, I worked there and it was my job which I never had time to do due to being way over worked. Unsafe work environment, warehouse is extremely over crowded and the warehouse person is expected to move all types of merchandise un assisted. A friend of mine hurt his back doing this and they made him jump through hoops to attempt to get compensation. As far as pay goes, they cut hours constantly and dont care if their employees lives suffer. They hire any warm bodies they can find because their mission is "providing jobs" management is always changing and nobody is on the same page resulting in a disorganized and disgusting shopping and work environment(just look at the floors and ull see the laziness start as you near the back of the store.) When managment and corprate make a mistake they make it the responsibility of the employee to fix it. For instance, pay discrepancies or errors are just expected to be forgiven and the employee can just "wait 5 extra days" to get Fridays check next wednesday. I also saw the manager schedule someone and when the dude came to work the manager sent him home because they "didn't need him" despite his 15 mile commute. Also, the amount of GOOD donation items that get thrown away is appalling. I went back to make a donation after I left there and the dude loading a small night stand broke my car. This place is all around slummy, extremely un-professional and treats their employees and customers like garbage. Check this place out! read more

I've only been here a few times. It's a decent Goodwill store, it's mostly clean, mostly non-smelly, and if you were looking for something specific, you probably would find it here because it is pretty big. However, the prices aren't that great if you were a true bargain hunter. The prices are very reasonable though. There's an old/used stuff side of the store and then they also sell new items towards the front of the store. Overall, it's a decent thrift store with a large selection and relatively polite cashiers. Don't look for a lot of customer service help b/c hey, it's a thrift store, not a Nordstrom, but if you like to look for random items and unique goods, you just might find them here. read more

I've already professed my preference for Thrift Town, but every now and then I pop into this Goodwill to see what they've got. Most recen trip, I found an unworn black pair of women's Crocs slingback flats (possibly Malindi style) for only $4.25. $4.25! Normally these are eaily $20-$30 retail. That's like getting 85% off! They're comfortable, don't look like the Crocs clogs you're probably imagining, and close-toed means I can wear to work in the lab! Sometimes I browse book titles (very well organized), not so much into the clothing unless looking for something particular but if anything the activewear or jeans. I even saw different cups/blades (but not the base) for the Skinnygirl blender if you're into protein shakes and smoothies. As for random knicknacks, I also took home a little record player-shaped wind-up music box (with rotating vinyl action) that plays the iconic "Chariots of Fire." For under $2. You know, for whenever I need accompaniment running in slow-mo, crossing the finish line of my next race. Or instrumentally making my daily work that much more epic. Considering I donate to Goodwill Express centers whenever I do a major closet cleanup, it's still fun perusing other stuff. read more

My girlfriends always find treasures in this store. Once, we bought brand new dresses from David's Bridal here in time for a special occasion. They also sell name brand bags with minimal damage for such a steal. For instance, they had LV, Prada, and Gucci at one time. You just need a lot of patience to rummage through the racks and to stay in line to pay. read more

Clean!!!! Well, it smells clean, isn't the most organized in some areas, but this place lacks that..."thrift store" smell. Which is good cause that smell is rank and some thrift stores are just plain awful. I've found many a things are amazing prices. Jeans especially. From Hollister to Juicy Couture you can find it. Do some digging cause they have plenty of jeans to choose from. I buy plenty of jeans there, my collection of denim is massive now. The shirts and blouses area have a good selection too, and I've bought plenty of really cute tops there as well. Overall, a really great Goodwill location. read more

I've always heard of stories from people finding great vintage cameras for really cheap at Goodwill stores, so i wanted to check it out myself and maybe score on some. I've finally dropped by to this new Goodwill store since it's relatively close to my house and because i was bored, so i said why not. Haven't been to a Goodwill store before, so it was a different experience for me, but i'm glad i went to this one. When i got there, i went straight to the electronics area to look for old vintage cameras. Unfortunately, i didn't find any, but i did come across to a Gamecube controller that i've been wanting for a while now, so i was happy. It was in great condition and worked perfectly. On another note, my first impression of the store was it looks like a Ross or Marshall store...well, same layout at least. And to be honest, I was surprised at how clean the store was. I've always thought of Goodwill stores being so messy because no one cared about them, but i guess i was wrong. The employees on the other hand seem very friendly and helpful when i was asking them questions about where random things where and where i could find such things. And because of these things, i would most likely come back to this store again and continue my hunt for vintage cameras, lol. Anyways, i love it here because it's a great store with lots of parking spaces in a great location. read more

Drives me crazy how the clothes are stuffed so full on the racks that there's literally no way to go through them. I literally have to move at least 10 hangers with clothes on them to a different rack just to give enough room to look at each item. Frustrating especially when I'm trying to shop not work. It's not always like that though, and it's mostly the women's shirts and dresses that are the worst. Items can be stupidly overpriced , sometimes I'll see a shirt that they'd normally charge $2 , for like $15 simply because its a "name brand " even though you can tell it's not even close to worth that amount. Just trying to jack up the price due to the brand because I guess whoever's pricing these items thinks they can get over on customers? I dont know. This is one of the smaller goodwill stores but I enjoy coming here due to the cleanliness aspect well until my incident yesterday. I'm giving this store 1 star because of the customer service I received from a young African American male who worked the cashier on Monday March 14th at 2:13 pm. My receipt says his name was Joew. Gave me attitude about not taking off the hangers off the clothing I was purchasing and said "Can't you see I'm the only cashier working?" I was waiting in line while handling my crying baby. I had just rocked him asleep and put him in the stroller before getting up there. I told him that in response to his telling me I should have taken off the hangers before going up there. He's a cashier! It's your job to remove hangers! So lazy and self righteous not to mention rude. read more

Like any thrift store, you actually have to look and dig through layers of stuff to find the gems. This Goodwill location for the most part is clean and organized (dressing rooms could use some tlc). I came during October so they had plenty of costumes and accessories out for Halloween. The staff is very friendly and helpful. read more

I give this place a 5 for cleaniness due to it probably being in elk grove, but a 3 because the selection wasn't that great. Came to look for costumes, not much. I like how organized they are, it is not messy. They have a lot of dishes and books. They also have new and used items for sale. I usually go to thrift stores to look for vintage items as in dishes and tops or jackets, not much to my liking. Vintage thrift store, go to thrift town on fruitridge. While there are some good deals every now and then, I'm not a big fan of this store. I've been here a couple times and it looks decent on the outside, but not so nice on the inside. The atmosphere feels really dead. The clientele this store attracts are some of the strangest folks I've seen (like who you see shopping at Walmart sometimes). The clothes are somewhat organized and presentable, but the rest is a mess. The electronics shelves feature unorganized piles of crap sitting on top of each other. A lot of the items were dirty as well. However, I did find a cheap playstation 1 ($7) but they made me pay extra for the controller. I should've bought the controller at dimples since it was $2 there and I paid $4 here. This place is okay but I've only found one nice thing. read more

I am bumping up my rating of this store from a 1 star to a 2 stsr. Even though i still believe they are over priced compared to some of the other Goodwill stores, they do sometimes have some good items. The Goodwill industry overall is a fabulous concept People get to donate their broken junk and write it off as a donation on their taxes. Goodwill then sells the broken junk at 5 times it's value, NO WARRANTY and MOST IMPORTANTLY EMPLOYS disadvantaged persons. FABULOUS! THIS PARTICULAR STORE CHARGES AT LEADT TWICE AS MUCH AS ANY OTHER GOODWILL STORE. Also, much better broken junk at HALF THE PRICE of this Goodwill store on Arden way. This is my go-to thrift store. Everytime I come here I always find something I want at a great bargain price. Most of the time I go in with nothing in particular I'm looking for and walk out with several purchases. Excellent variety of second hand items as well as new items ranging from clothes, household items, electronics, kitchen ware, books, beds, costumes, art work, toys, ect... You can even find things that are seasonal at department stores. For example, I just found a pair of overalls for my son for $6.99. I tried calling several stores like Target, Walmart, Kmart, Old Navy, TJ Max, Kohls, ect... with no success. I should've just came here in the first place. As for the staff, they are very friendly and helpful. They greet you when you come in and offer assistance in finding items you may be seeking. I've shopped at other Goodwill stores and none of them comes close to this one. Best thrift store ever! read more

I have been into this goodwill countless times . I've never had a real issue [ at this location] until today. Backstory: I often get take out from the indian food restaurant a couple doors down, i drive all the way from S. Land Park to Elk grove to get this Indian food, and shop at Goodwill to kill time. I bought several things today, my complaint is with the cashier who overcharged me for a pair of leather boots. I went with my cart full of items to the cashier, she began to ring me up, a few items later i put a vintage afghan blanket on the counter and said " I don't think this is priced, maybe you can find a tag?" she looked on her computer for a few seconds without saying a word, and then began to bag it. I said " ok wait, how much is the blanket?" she says in a monotone voice "3.19" . I say "ok, thats fine." She continues to ring me up. I didn't realize until I got home that I had been charged 15.20 for a pair of boots that states 6.20 on the bottom of the sole [ BOTH soles] , as goodwill writes the price now in white or black marker. This way no one can switch tags etc. I am PISSED , not only am I charged almost 10 extra dollars, but after closer inspection the shoes lining is ROTTING on the inside. I admit this is partially my fault. BUT come on, I am not responsible for being overcharged. They need to read out loud the prices, or hire more competant employees. Its always some very "dull crayon" working at a goodwill. There must be some more willing enthusiastic people willing to take these jobs... I am not sure what else to do, so I am letting everyone know ... Make sure to double check your items price and condition, before being overcharged for used shoes at Goodwill. Why are they putting shoes that are damaged inside on the floor anyways? Really unethical. I know, first world prob. read more

I've found some really cute clothes here (maybe because it's close to Consumnes River College so a lot of young women are donating cute things?) a member of gen z here. i always go here to thrift! i always find lots of nice stuff whenever i go and am super happy with the prices and finds. however, there wasn't enough carts so me and friend had to hold all of our items. cashiers are nice and aren't slow. 2/4 of the changing rooms are open. the music is great. overall, a pretty good thrift store even if it's small :) read more
