24.99 at the Goodwill?! WT fudge!

I crossed GW off of my thrifting rounds years ago. Came in here on a whim looking for Fall decor. I found it, but at high-class retail prices for mediocre stuff. Still over pricing donated stuff, still over stuffing shelves and racks. There was a homeless man sleeping on a chair in the tiny furniture section, shoes off, he was comfy. Just a reminder to myself I don't need to shop here.

Went looking for glassware yesterday, and they had HEAPS of Christmas platters/bowls/serving dishes. Would be a great spot to pick-up fancy plates to bring or gift at your holiday functions! Plenty of other Christmas decor, too - including some adorable Black Santa and Nutcracker figures. Go check them out; you never know what kind of gems you'll find here.

Convenient to drop off used items but will not accept the rug that meets guidelines. My used rug is 5x7 and they said it has to be new because of sanitary what's the point of having a guideline if you can't accept it. Just say no rugs period.

Some books I have found here

I got to this place a lot to donate stuff, such as clothes and books. They're usually pretty quick with taking in donated items. This goodwill location has a lot of puzzles and board games. They are usually in perfect condition. Sometimes there are games and puzzles that were never opened, like the "That's so Raven" puzzle I found there. I found an American Girl Molly board game there in great condition too. The book selection is smaller than the book selection at the Goodwill on Elk Grove Blvd. This location still have a decent selection of books. I found a cool Dinosaur encyclopedia book for the kids at work. It was only $3 and in perfect condition. Another book I was happy to find was the Freedom Writers books for only $2 and in good condition. Online the book is $30.

This store has progressively gone downhill over the years. Today's visit surprised me more than when I came here last year. The store was crowded but a complete mess. There were items that are worth $4 in Walmart being sold for $8.99 in here. Then there were items marked at full price when the full product wasn't even in the packaged. Not sure who figures the pricing at this location but they should really get someone else to do it. Then along with the overstuffed shelves, items on the floor in all aisles (even clothing) it just seemed that the workers didn't care. It was sad. I spent about 15 minutes in the store and left empty handed because the mess was just so frustrating.

Been a fan of Goodwill ever since I found out how much they sell their books for. It surprises me when I find a book that doesn't seem to have any creases on the binding! I feel like I hit the jack pot. The prices of the books at this store are the same as the Goodwill I use to go to in WA , so there's no surprise there. Children hardbacks are $1.49, children paperbacks are $.99, adult hardbacks are $2.49, and adult paperbacks are $1.49. Sometimes I'll stumble upon some children's books that are $.69, but it's rare. Parking is not an issue here. Being that this Goodwill is fairly new, there's not that many people that browse around the store. That's probably a good thing for now. But I'm sure when it gets busy, it'll be hard to navigate the aisles. When you enter the store, you're immediately greeted by customer service associates. It's great to feel welcomed! It's very well organized, everything is in its own section, and has their own label. I really haven't bought much at Goodwill besides books. But when I have the time and patience to rummage through things, I'll definitely start here. :)

I've already professed my preference for Thrift Town, but every now and then I pop into this Goodwill to see what they've got.

Personally, sometimes I just need to get stuff out of my house as soon as I can. Some other locations require an appointment or aren't always accepting certain items. I try to be a community conscious donor and I don't just give the Goodwill my trash. I would encourage others to do the same. They're open seven days a week and their hours for donations are nearly all the hours that I might feel inspired to take something out of my house to give away. I think it's 9 AM to 8 PM to be exact.

But I've only been here maybe once or twice before. As usual, I checked out the books and DVDs section more mainly but didn't find anything this time. Pretty limited selection and really nothing that's worth taking home, lots of duds from the past so doubly duddy. They had board and card games too, which we like to look for, but nothing good this time either. All in all, pretty humdrum... Pros: - cleaner than other Goodwill stores - bigger and brighter than other Goodwill's - plenty of parking and relatively good lot - fun just to browse if you have time and might find some things Cons: - prices aren't so "goodwill" anymore, but that seems to be the case across the board at charity thriftstores esp. "questionablewill" stores, ha! - they had quite a few large bins out for stocking and didn't seem to be in any hurry to organize and stock so those were just blocking access to several aisles and also getting in the way along a main path. Tip: - once a week a certain color tags get 50% off, so if the stars align, an item could be a good deal.

There was no one in the parking lot either. I really had my doubts about this store and wasn't planning on going back, but my mom wanted to go to one more thrift store and this one was the closest store. I'm glad we went. Monday was a different story. We arrived around 1 pm and the parking lot was busy and the rollaway gates were all pulled up and secured and you could see into the building though the glass windows. They have such nice displays in the windows. Lots of fine China. On there door they have a sign that says something about weave. I think they are run by weave and get their hand me downs from them. Or so I was told. I could be wrong so don't quote me. They have a good selection of clothing. The selection is small. It's nothing like the big thrift stores we have been visiting this weekend. Let's say small but mighty. I walked home with 2 pairs of dress pants. Ann Taylor and Talbots. They fit perfectly and under $3 each. I also got a White House Black Market blouse for $1.98. I wasn't in the market for dresses, but they had a lot of nice ones my size.
