I can only speak to the donation side. The donation drop off is remarkably easy and has great hours. I stop by on Sunday late afternoons on my way home and it's as fast as hitting one extra red light. One block off touhy, you simply pull up and there's an overhang to protect from sun or rain. There are two lanes so I've rarely had to wait. When I pull up, immediately an employee comes out wheeling a cart and helps load my things into it. Then I'm on my way again. I've never had donations be this easy. I'm finally taking the time to write this review because as I was dropping off my mom's things last night, I accidentally kept my Irish cap and scarf on the donation bag and realized when I got home! Ack! They had sentimental value and I hadn't meant to donate them. I was concerned this would be circus getting them back. But I called immediately, spoke with an extremely diligent and gracious manager who found them within minutes (he said it helped that I called immediately). He said it happens all the time and he is just so grateful for people donating things and wants them tog et their things back in these situations. I'm not a big fan of the thrift store experience, so you have to take that into account. But I dislike coming here more than most thrift stores. It's mobbed no matter the time of day or week, which must be good for business but makes for a stressful shopping experience. The home goods section is comprised of several rows of tall, narrow racks with junk piled on top of junk. Presumably thanks to customers, a lot of things aren't in their proper category. The fact that they use vertical display racks means there's limited space for customers to stand per aisle, so it's often hard to even get in an aisle to look at things. I've never found anything of interest or value here. There's usually a long line to checkout, so even if I found something I'm not sure it'd be worth the wait to buy it. Lots of customers have carts full of stuff, while when I buy stuff at thrift stores it's usually only one small thing. Maybe they need an express lane. read more

Like other thrift stores goodwill has a wide selection. It takes a lot of time searching and looking through a lot of clothes they sell. Do note a lot of clothing items can be on the pricier side for second hand. Ranging from 8-20 dollars. They do have colored tags that change weekly on Tuesday for half off. I went on a random Wednesday mid day and was able to find three pretty cute dresses that were the color of the sale tags. Got three dresses for $9. Do note that if you create an account and share your birthday that you get 25% off 3 purchases of your birthday month. They also have fitting rooms available which is great since there are no returns on items. I would recommend coming often to see new items when they get put onto shelves. Also note that their bag selection is small compared to the goodwill in northbrook/wilmette area. Their dresses selection is fairly large compared to other goodwills. read more

I am reviewing the drop-off service only. I'm glad this location is close, so I can make regular drop-offs of my clothing, shoes, housewares, etc. I used to keep bags of donations but this way, I can make many stops throughout the year, people can make use of my stuff, and Goodwill can employ people. There is a driveway in the back of the store off Linder, staff wheels out a cart, and takes it away. They always ask if you want a tax form for your donation. I thought I came at a slow time -- I don't think there is a slow time -- lots of cars at 10am. read more

I love the convenience in dropping off items to donate here. You simply pull up (or wait in line to pull up) and someone comes to your vehicle and removes your items. They provide receipts for tax purposes also. Today my daughter and I were out thrifting and decided to actually go in and look around. We loved this store! It's neat, clean and very well organized. Much nicer than the goodwill near our house. I have no idea how we spent almost $100 (!) but we did, in under an hour. The cashier was very nice and encouraged me to join the rewards program, which I gladly did. Can't wait to go back! read more

I had an unpleasant experience at this Goodwill location today. Let me preface by saying that I have donate regularly and shopped often at this location. Overall, it's been great, and I've purchased some practical items for my home. Today, I went to checkout and the employee accused me of covering the original price sticker with another sticker, thus lowering the purchase price. Both identical items were marked $1.99. One of the items had a sticker under the $1.99 sticker that was $3.99. The employee called the manager over and quite loudly asked what the sales price should be, of course he confirmed the higher price. While the difference in the amount of money to purchase the item was only $2, it was the accusation of fraud or theft that has now soured me on both ever shopping and/or donating to this Goodwill location. Goodwill Skokie, you just falsely accused me, treated me disrespectfully and dismissively. You're out! No more good will from me. read more

We went to the Goodwill store to donate a few items that we no longer use. I figure rather then just tossing it someone may find a need or use for it. You know what they say "ONE MAN'S JUNK IS ANOTHER MAN'S TREASURE". Like any Goodwill store you need to sort through a lot of items to get some good deals. Some of the stores in the affluent neighborhoods get a better inventory because of the locations in more upscale neighborhoods. I even found a nice navy blue Ralph Lauren suit coat for $5 at a different Goodwill Store. This store at 5518 W Touhy in Skokie is pretty new as is the development around it. We got a chance to check it out a few days ago and found that they don't have as many nuggets as some of the other stores. I usually get my books from Goodwill as they are $0.99 for paperback, but like anything else you need to search to find a good deal. I did find a few dvd's that I haven't see before for $1.99 a piece. read more

Goodwill has gotten gotten greedy. This is supposed to be a second hand thrift store. Asking over $100 for a board game? No wonder its been there a while. If it was sealed and old maybe I could see it but its just a 2012 board game used. This is just one of numerous items. How many people are coming to good will to spend over $100 for a game? I can bet not many. Also the management here is a little rude at times. Been coming here for years. They used to be fair priced but now it's just insane. read more

This location is so well organized. I can't get over how neat this store is over the other locations. I was expecting a wild and untamed crowd. I have to take off one point, because this place did not have a lot of treasures. I went to book section hoping to find some great reads, and I didn't find anything. I went into the home good section, and I didn't find anything. I went over to the men's department and I found some decent shirts. What better way to spend an hour prior to work! As for this Goodwill location I have actually been coming here for a while, but my visits are rare because they are mostly while on break from work. Funny thing about that is that I'm always pressed for time because of the break in-between, or having to leave so that I'm not late prior to the start of my shift. However, I always end up purchasing something while here because their prices and selections are amazing! In the past, I have purchased a few great items from here ranging from a select pair of name brand jeans, casual shirts, sweaters and a faux leather jacket. All were priced reasonable and in great condition! I have also got the chance to look deeply at some of the furniture items, knick-knacks and books that this place has, but never really came here solely for that purpose. I highly recommend this Goodwill location because its prices trump the nearest Salvation Army store which sits 2.5 miles away in Morton Grove. I have said in the past in other reviews that what makes a great thrift store is the area itself and the people that live near it. Do not expect to find great items if you cannot relate to the areas socioeconomic status. With that being said happy thrifting everyone and I hope this review assists you in any way. This place is run just like big business except they pretend to be a charity to get stuff for free. Lots of layers of management at the corporate level, making big salaries. They raise prices sky high and price out the poor Sell a lot of damage products, to unknowing people. Sell a of products in bulk to reseller, not too poor needy people. If you want to help people keep your donations, just sell it on Facebook market place to people in need. And donate the cash to another charity. read more

Used to be my favorite thrift store...not anymore because they've raised prices astronomically. Last year I was able to get a decent used winter parka for under $10 and now (Jan., 2023) they go for $24.99, $34.99. even $39.99! Decent used shoes average $10-15. Women's long sleeve tops and sweaters that were once $4.99 are now $7.99, $8.99, $9.99. God forbid if it's a designer label. Considering this Goodwill is stocked to the rafters with clothes and other merchandise, it doesn't do them any good to discourage people from buying. I walked out without several things I would have bought if they'd been tagged with thrift store prices. read more

This is a review for the donation drive through only. This location is very easy to find and currently has a contactless system for donations which I very much appreciate! You drive up to their donation doors/dedicated lane which have signs indicating drivers should stay in their cars. Within a minute a staff (who is masked and gloved) comes out to take any items out of your car for you. The process is seamless and I was in and out in less than 3 minutes! read more

Really super convenient location for drop offs! I was having a difficult time locating another Goodwill when the one closest to me in Park Ridge closed. I frequently donate my clothes and belongings every few months or so, at least 2-3 times a year. I also prefer the least amount of human interaction as possible. So this location is perfect! The location is on Touhy right after the McDonald's and right before the infamous Walmart. There are signs everywhere in the parking lot pointing to where the donations center was. You pull in through the back and park right next to the doors. Someone comes out with a large bin and you just dump your bags in and that's it. Granted I went on a day where it was just myself so it could probably get a little more hectic with a line. You can get receipts too but doesn't really make a difference once tax season rolls around. All in all it's super convenient and easy. There's nothing worse than not knowing where you're going and having to lug around big heavy plastic bags of stuff. Nice and quick place if you want to drop off your items at a convenient and very luxurious like pick up and drop off area. I would and have donated a bunch of item through there drive though area. The place is huge and it's a hidden spot that most people would not visit unless you live in the area or really want into find a place to drop off things quickly. I was not aware that the folks at GOODWILL were so picky. I didn't realize they only excepted bedding that had a 300 thread count! Seriously it seems odd to me that this location would be so particular that they would turn down several new and "gently used" comforters and blankets. Not to mention a set of never used towels and wash cloths. I was under the impression that they were a non for profit organization this behavior however makes me think otherwise. By the way the Salvation Army was more than happy to accept the donation. Huh, imagine that. read more

Excellent and easy set up for dropping off your gently used goods. It's a drive through with friendly folk who come right out to your car and take everything away. It can get busy, so if you don't want to wait in line, I suggest going mid day during the week. read more

Easiest drop off process for donations and clean store for shopping. Lots of clothes, houseware, books and etc. ya never know what you find.

The main reason I donate to Goodwill is because of their employment programs for individuals with disabilities. I love the convenience of the donation area: you drive up under a covered area on the east side of the building and before you get the car door open, someone is trundling out a bin for your donations and handing you a receipt. In and out in a flash. Between this Goodwill and the Re-Store on Pulaski near Peterson, I can donate practically everything usable you can think of. This location has superb access, plenty of parking, friendly employees, and spacious dressing rooms. I especially like the book section. read more

Nice new store but lady at the register was much too amused by my name which she burst out laughing! How rude! I did not laugh at her weird hairstyle and bleached blonde hair in a high ponytail!The times I Visit and get her I actually don't use my goodwill card so she can't laugh. She did it twice! It's the first time I declined my card at a goodwill! I'm not so happy to go back there now. I guess I should have said something to her but I don't like to bring attention to myself. Prices are outrageous. $30 for a very used, very small Vera Bradley purse which I could buy brand new on sale. Used Target and Forever 21 shirts were $8,99, pretty much the same amount you can buy them new. The owner is known for overpricing. The goodwill is meant for people who can't afford to spend much money on clothing and homegoods. The Evanston Goodwill has the same quality items for much less. Or try the thrift stores in Des Plaines or Highland Park - much better deals! You'll spend half as much going somewhere else. read more

Way overpriced ...they want to charge the same price as a new item for used item... I seen items there with Target prices for $8 and they want $15 for it ..... when you ask them to match that price they say" no just to go to Target and buy it from them" ... I've been to so many Goodwill's and I'm always happy when I leave from there ...this is one Goodwill I will never come back to read more
