After my experience with College Hunks Hauling Junk & Moving, I was completely frustrated. I had scheduled them to arrive between 2:00 and 4:00 p.m., but instead they called that morning wanting to come early. I was initially quoted around $800 to remove the items from my father's estate, but when the crew finally arrived around 7:00 p.m., the estimate suddenly jumped to over $3,000. At that point, I told them to forget it. Still needing a very heavy antique Mosler safe removed, I called Gone Guys in Glenview. Other companies had quoted me anywhere from $2,500 to $3,000 just to move the safe. Gone Guys quoted me $450, arrived exactly when they said they would, and their crew was professional, efficient, and courteous. They not only removed the safe without any issues but also helped move several additional items. I would absolutely use Gone Guys again and highly recommend them for moving, estate cleanouts, heavy-item removal, or junk hauling. They were honest, straightforward, dependable, and delivered exactly what they promised. My experience with them was night and day compared to College Hunks. read more

Instant communication - well priced, friendly owner and staff. Would definitely recommend Gone Guys

I had to clear out a home to prep for a sale. These guys were amazing. The house was filled with old furniture and nicknacks. They even removed old carpet. The crew showed up and had the house cleared in 4 hours. The crew was very kind and incredibly efficient. I couldn't be happier with the experience, from the first call to completion. Thank you read more

It shouldn't be so hard to donate furniture and other goods when so many people are in need of things, but I didn't have much success finding an organization to pick up furniture during the pandemic. With new furniture on the way I decided I just needed it gone and did request a quote on Yelp for junk removal. Jeff from Gone Guys was the most responsive and the best price so hired. When I reached out to ask him to come they weren't available for another 6 days, but I just delayed a few furniture deliveries and made it work. They arrived a bit early for the 11am move and got right to work. I was a bit paranoid about our walls since we had just painted (prob good to remove the furniture first), but they were very careful and there no issues. The entire move itself probably took them 20 min granted it was only a few rooms of furniture. As instructed they left half of it at the end of my driveway for someone to pick up and the rest of it went off in the trunk. It made me a bit sad to see some furniture in good condition being junked, but hopefully they found a good home for it. And all this for $150 (easily paid via venmo), which was by far the best price I found from my research. I'll definitely be in touch with them again in the future for future junk or moving needs (they'll move furniture too!). Thanks to Jeff and his team of movers! read more

In our search for a service to relieve us of some long out of service and heavy furniture I found Gone Guys. Jeff was responsive, friendly and his two workers actually called to see if they could come earlier than arranged! They arrived right on time, took great care to remove our very heavy sofa and loveseat without touching the walls in our apartment nor the stairs and hall leading out of the building. Even the online invoicing and payment tech was seamlessly efficient. Absolutely five stars! read more

Needed a couch, cabinet and old fire pit hauled off. Couch was in the basement that has a weird little spiral staircase up, couch is also a large L shape that can split into 3 pieces. The Gone Guys removed all in about 30 minutes and were so careful (no dings or scratches on my walls). Also, the initial process with Jeff was so easy. Gave him a call, he gave me a price and minutes later texted me the time they'd be here (which they were exactly in that window). Pay options make it easy - no old school cash or check - they take credit, Venmo, Zelle, etc. Highly recommend!! read more

I work in real estate and have an upcoming listing that needed to be cleaned out on behalf of the family of the owner in preparation to sell. We obtained several estimates to clear out a full condo. Gone Guys was not only the most reasonable bid, but they were also extremely communicative and FAST. I had an estimate less than 24 hrs of reaching out, scheduled removal a week later, and they were done removing in a matter of hours. Being in real estate, I deal with vendors often and am usually chasing people down to get things done. Not the case at all here. Couldn't ask for a better experience. Jeff was easy to work with - we'll definitely be using Gone Guys again! read more

My mother passed away from Brain cancer quite suddenly. She had a small 2 bedroom basement apartment that needed to be completely emptied. My sister met with Jeff, the owner, and we both agreed his company GONE GUYS was gonna do the job. After a few texts to confirm time and location we were all set. The guys arrived on time, 4 guys - 2 trucks! As they emptied the apartment, They took the time to point out some pics in boxes I might want to look thru (which I did.) They had entire apartment completely empty down to the junk drawer in kitchen in about 2 hours. They were amazing and respectful and efficient. The price was AMAZING!! I recommend this company 200%!!!! And than some!!!! read more

We just used Gone Guys last week. We sold my mother's house that she lived in since 1958. We had one month until the closing. My mother was organized but there was a LOT of stuff from their business, including heavy furniture and a lifetime of memories. Jeff quoted a price for the job, that was extremely reasonable and that it would take 5-6 hours to clear out. 9 workers, 4 trucks, and 6 hours... OMG, they were amazing. They arrived on time, and were efficient and polite. Everything that we didn't keep was gone and swept out. We could not have done this ourselves. Thank you, Jeff and your entire crew! My brothers, sister-in-law and I highly recommend Gone Guys! We were truly impressed. read more

Jeff is great! He comes quickly and his team are kind and careful. I love that he encourages donations and doesn't merely come and haul the "junk" away. I recently moved out of the area and Jeff helped me out by having his guys make a few passes by my house. I'd highly recommend these guys! They are local and their pricing and service beats the bigger guys (aka GOT JUNK). I've used them both and much prefer the local guy. read more

5+ service. Amazing customer service. Great, fast, efficient movers. I would use this service again and recommend them very highly. Got a quote through Yelp that seemed reasonable to me. I'm on the 3rd floor and needed a few larger pieces of furniture removed. They came. 2 guys. Friendly, helpful and did the job quickly and efficiently. I apologized for the many stairs and they didn't even blink. I ended up getting a call an hour later and he felt he misquoted me and gave me some money back! I was very pleased with the service anyway at that point and was going to give 5 stars. Once I got that call I wondered how I could give them a few more. Thanks Gone Guys!! read more

I needed help cleaning out a large storage unit that my father left when he passed away. Time was tight with COVID-19 spreading quickly (this was mid-March 2020) and me wanting to get rid of the rental bill for the unit. Jeff was able to meet me there within a few days of my initial email to him, and we were able to schedule for the cleanout within a week and half. Jeff's price was more than reasonable, and he offered me a substantial discount (a fixed dollar amount that would have been 45% of the original fee) on top of that in exchange for a suitcase of stamps and coins that were part of the estate property (ultimately, we decided to keep the stamps and coins, so we didn't take the discount deal, but Jeff's offer would have been a very easy way to get real value for them with no work). As more and more services shut down for COVID-19, Jeff emailed me to say that disposable was going to cost a bit more because some of his usual channels were shut down. He asked for an increase in the price, which was reasonable both in absolute dollar and percentage terms. Under the circumstances, I agreed. I was willing to trust Jeff that increased disposal costs really were the issue, and that he would not ask to go back on agreed price under normal circumstances. On the Day, Jeff's crew met me at the storage unit exactly on time, and we got to work. I was opening and checking boxes to pull keeper items, and the crew moving boxes up from the locker for me to check, then sorting obvious trash in one truck from stuff to be sorted in the other. The whole process took less than 3 hours, and a I had a huge load off my mind. Perfect service. Also, the crew and I maintained social distancing; I wore surgical gloves, and I am certain that no virus spread from me to any of them or vice-verse. read more

Very reasonable pricing, fast communication and they showed up on time. We used Gone Guys to remove an old couch from our home. They were on time and worked quickly and carefully. Helped my family and I clear out my Father's home... the team was friendly, fast and efficient. Service was worth every penny.

Gone Guys made a difficult move SO nice and easy! They are reliable, considerate, efficient, and I feel they were well worth the cost! It's also nice to know that the items they took will be donated or recycled. I can't say enough about how amazing they are and very much worth it!!! I'd hire again for sure!! read more

Where do I start, describing the company that saved me from what was nearly three years of agony, worrying about how I would ever clear my parents' home of nearly 50 years.? I live on the West Coast and my brother on the East Coast. My parents were original owners of a house in Vernon Hills built in 1974. Aside from the 1974 move they had moved two times previously in 1968 and 1961 and never completely unpacked boxes from either move. The basement therefore was a nightmare. I had already shredded nearly 300 pounds of receipts, files, statements, etc before the Gone Guys came. Their collection of personal items was not much better. Although most things were in great shape, the house was jam packed with furniture, clothing, and novelty cutesy crap that my mother loved and couldn't part with. They never threw out anything Every closet and every drawer was full when you opened it. Now she was a widow (92!) and for the past three years, living in assisted living. 90% of what she/they owned was still in that house. For three years, she couldn't accept she wasn't going back and I couldn't imagine how I would ever clear it when she finally realized it. Although I made several trips to IL to go through things, it never looked any less full. I knew there was an immense amount of items that could either be sold or donated but no one was there to do that. I lost so much sleep over that house. Enter Jeff, Gone Guy owner. I knew instantly his company was up for the task, although it still took another 8 months for her to accept she was never going to have room for her furniture or stuff in a 500 sq ft one bedroom assisted living apartment. Jeff brought 4 trucks and 10 or 11 guys. Within about 5 hours, everything was out of there. Every room, every closet, every drawer cleared. The nightmare in the basement was the worst, but they got everything out of it, too. They even swept afterwards. I know I am not alone in this situation where you are relegated to clearing a family home of decades. You truly have to get to the place mentally where you can do it, but when you do, Gone Guys is the ONLY company you should call. Best of all, they don't just haul junk and throw it away. They sell it, donate it or dispose of it (only when an item no longer has any use.) Thank you Jeff, and your large, respectful crew that made an impossible situation manageable. On top of that, he is honest and reasonable. read more

I cannot recommend "Gone Guys" more highly. As someone who is significantly downsizing, Jeff Silver, the owner, has been a godsend to me. Completely trustworthy, always on time, great communication and fair pricing. His crew is completely mindful of the virus, and I had no issues with his staff in my home. I couldn't make this move without Gone Guys and Jeff. I truly appreciate them, and recommend them highly. read more

I was extremely impressed with Jeff and his crew. I was overwhelmed with the passing of a relative and the task of emptying the house from across the country. I live in Los Angeles and flew out to Gurnee to handle funeral and financial arrangements. I met with Jeff who was on time, explained the process to me and provide me with a fair quote. Gone Guys made an overwhelming situation so much easier and I am tremendously grateful I found them on Yelp. read more

The Gone Guys are the best!! I called yesterday when I found out my new King Sized bed is being delivered today after an 8 week delay. I had to get my old mattress, box springs and bed frame out before the new bed arrived. Jeff promised his guy would have the job done by 10:00 am. His guys showed up at 9:45 with enough manpower to move everything in one trip. They were done and gone by 9:55. Now that is what I call service. The price was reasonable and everything went so smoothly. I highly recommend Gone Guys for jobs big and small. read more

Gone means Gone! Jeff's team cleaned out my parents home this week and we couldn't be more grateful for the work performed. They arrived within the expected window and were courteous, efficient and thorough. It was a stressful few weeks trying to get my dad moved and the house ready for the new buyers. My folks lived in that house almost 20 years and did NOT believe in purging. Garage and basement were the biggest areas to tackle and the Gone Guys team left both empty and clean. We only had 1 day before the final walk through and Gone Guys was the perfect solution! I hadn't slept in weeks and they left me worry free for the walk through. Highly recommend!!!! read more

We started a well overdo decluttering project in August and hired Gone guys to take care of the first leg which included the removal of some very bulking early 2000 electronics and heavy cherry desk from my upstairs office. We know this would be a laborious job and yes could have asked neighbors to roll up their sleeves and help -but in the end, having Jeff's guys are care was the right and best decision. It also proved to be very economical as it's all one stop whereas individually I would have made multiple trips to electronic recycling stations. Jeff provide a quote based on pictures sent , the team arrived and was very courteous and respectful of our home. The job took about 2 hours and I was very happy with the results. We will definitely use them again as we continue our project - I also recommended them today to a friend that just completed a major home renovation and had a garage full of "stuff". Definitely worth the effort and expense. read more

Amazing! I've been wondering how to get a too-big dining room table taken apart and out of our house as well as an area rug out from under a very heavy bed. Today I was looking up a different removal service and noticed the great reviews on Gone Guys. I called at 10:24 AM and talked to Jeff, sent him the two pictures by text and had a quote by 10:30, got a scheduled time of 1 PM, and the stuff was gone at 1:14... wow! Perfect service, the team was on time, careful and efficient, reasonably-priced, and I'm loving my extra space! Thanks so much read more
