Came here to drop off clothing per usual. Was in the Simi area so I decided to look on Yelp to find the closest location for Goodwill. I found this location and it is actually pretty neat and modern inside and I was told that their donation center is behind the building on the side where you can drop off all your donations. However, once I did find the area to donate. I did like how it is someone outside and there's labeled bins to put your donation items in. Unfortunately, the only thing I didn't like is that the guy really didn't help much and he noticed that it was a big bag I had to carry. I feel like they could have just helped out a little more, but overall, I feel like this Goodwill is very convenient and easy if you want to donate something you could just pull up in the bins is right there when I'm in the area and I have clothes to donate. Came here for a thrift store day & to see what I could add to my home. Found a movie for my collection & a Funko pop that was priced at $20 but the other ones were $2.99. I asked if it was a mistake & she went to go & check. When she came back she said she couldn't change the price because on eBay the item was going for $80. I was surprised that goodwill has their employees checking eBay prices when goodwill themselves receive all these items for free. I wanted to add the Funko to my collection but it makes no sense that they mark up the prices per eBay postings. I might as well shop on eBay if that's the case. read more

I don't shop here often but I've found they have a good selection of housegoods such as appliances, furniture and glassware. I remember getting a full length mirror here for half off on Black Friday. In terms of clothing, the prices and selection aren't as good as what I've found at Hope of The Valley. I came here searching for a glass bottle with those stoppers that are attached and as soon as I walked in, I found it. I was so lucky but unfortunately the price was $7.99!!! I saw Ikea selling the same exact thing for half the price. I couldn't believe how much they upmarked this item. I'm not even sure the original purchaser of this item paid a whole $7.99 before donating it here. Despite this, I still bought it while using the 25% off Monday discount for being a student. Other groups like military, teachers, first responders, healthcare workers and seniors also can enjoy the same discount. All I had to do was show my student ID. I bought it only because I value sustainability and reusing items instead of getting them new. Otherwise, I would've left it. I'm using it to make a ginger bug soda and it seems to be leak proof and in proper working condition so far. I also got a metal water bottle which I thought was reasonably priced. It seemed like one of those items people would get for free at a fair full of people trying to advertise their brands, products or services. I paid $3 for it with the discount which doesn't sound too bad to me. I haven't tested if it's leak proof yet. My brother was eyeing two identical frames because he's been wanting to get into papermaking these days. They were $3 a frame which he thought was expensive before he looked up the price good frames usually go for. He ended up not getting it because he's looking for a more typical 8 by 11 paper sized frame so that he can make normal sized paper. The cashier was nice and asked if I qualified for the 25% off sale before I even brought it up. That shows that she puts people before the store's profit which makes me more likely to return. I'm hoping I can find a food processor here someday. read more

I had a nice experience shopping at this Goodwill in Simi. The place is huge compared to some other ones I shop at, and they had a wide selection of clothing for me to browse through. I can't get upset at the pricing, maybe it's more than it has been priced in the past. But we all know the state of CA's inflation rates and how literally EVERYTHING has been increased. Yes, even thrift store prices. I bought so many tops and pants for totaling under $60. Just think that if I went to somewhere like Macy's, Nordstrum, etc. I'd pay that for one nice top. So I can't really complain too much. I thought this store was clean and organized as well, so i'll definitely stop back in again. read more

Goodwills are no longer thrift stores. In the last year or so corporate HQ has ordered all prices raised to retail or more. Employees have told me this at multiple stores. It's now a grift store looking to fund very high executive salaries. It's not a charity at all. read more

I haven't shopped here in over 10 years I'm back working in area again and have been in on several occasions. I have to say I'm disappointed in the new higher prices on items that are donated. I don't believe there has been salary increases to its workers to validate that increase. I picked up a set of marvel tooth pick holders priced at $5.99 it still had a Marshalls price tag for the same price. I brought this up to the Mgr and she would not change the price. This store always has a good variety of items. Today it was messy and smelled bad. I got an amazing dress but other than that didn't find much. The prices are a bit high but it's a fun place to shop. I went to Simi thrift And the clothing is much cheaper but not as nearly as many choices. Plus this place was a disaster and stinks. They always have pop up Sales so my clothing was 25% off. read more

Hey-O!!! A new Goodwill just a couple of blocks from my house. Oh yeah! The best thing about this good will is that it is new, clean, and organized! How long this will last another question though. Like most Simi Valley Thrift stores this Goodwill has a lot of clothing. A LOT!! Furniture selection is pretty limited but the pieces I saw were in good condition and fairly priced. Not much in the way of electronics or appliances but I'm sure that may change over time. The parking lot is a bit cramped in front of the store due to Chi Chi's always being very busy but the connecting Albertson's parking lot isn't far away. I'll definitely be a regular at this Goodwill especially since the other location is on the other side of town. Stopping here also gives me a good reason to get some Baskin Robbins since it's in the same shopping center ;) read more

The employees at this store have always been super nice and helpful. Unfortunately the policies from corporate are not . Aside from the insane prices on most things. They have price stickers with so much glue that they damage some of the items such as books and games. If their is no sticker they are not allowed to sell which I get it for the most part but things like cds are all the same price, I understand they want to track their sales but how is it that their competitors have stickers that accomplish the same thing without damaging the item? It sucks to get home and take a sticker off a book and it tears the cover. I will no longer be donating to goodwill or rounding up for "mission services " read more

I will NEVER donate to the Goodwill again as I have for the past 20 years. I drive up with bags of clothes & books. The young man tells me I have a put everything in the bins myself. When I put the bags of clothes in the bin, he says no you need to take them out of the bags & put the books in another bin. Then told me the brand new salad spinner needed to go in a third bin. HOW UNGRATEFUL! They used to come to the car & help me unload. What's next? Are they going to ask me to put the clothes on the hangers & take them in the store? I shopped to this store today found two shirts and a sweatshirt went over to the desinger rack and found a London Fog coat which looked very nice until i saw the price $79.99 for a used coat? got home went on ebay found about a dozen coats for between $35 and $70 and found a new one for $65 Goodwill is for profit company just like Hope of the valley. Salvation army had a two doller sale on all cloths about a month ago I scored on a pair of new ski pants the tag said $69.99 i paid 2 bucks. which im sure goodwill would have charged $45 read more

We visited this location Sunday. I found a cool light and wanted to test it. First guy we asked said it is policy we couldn't test it, but there is a 7 day store credit policy. Another worker, who was the only helpful and nice person in the store, ran over and said there is a testing outlet. She walked us over and let us test it. Thankfully it worked. I checked the brand name on a web search and was trying to see if the brand had any feedback. While doing so another worker came over rudely and hassled us. Then the lady at the register was staring at us. Then the first guy we talked to came over and was being nosey. He then asked what was going on and said how no one sent him over but walked away after...while the other workers were still staring. I was standing on my phone doing research. Nothing more. I felt like we were treated with not great customer service. The lady at the register I believe was being trained (at least I hope so with the lack of knowledge )and kept telling me to insert my card but the screen didn't tell me to. I think there needs to be more communication, work on customer service, and better training. read more

Hello! I go to this store fairly often and I always tell the cashiers how clean and organized this store looks, they work very hard to make that store look as good as it does. In comparison to most thrift shops which are dirty and over stocked with junk, this location prides itself on cleanliness and putting out quality products at fair prices. I have never bought something from this store that I didn't love and the return policy is very generous as far as thrift stores go! The managers are very pleasant and always willing to go the extra mile to help out with customers. On one occasion, I witnessed a homeless woman try to steal shoes and freak out on one of the cashiers who confronted her about it and the manager Julia handled it very well. I recommend this location to all my friends and I will continue to shop here for many years to come! :) 5/5 one of the best places to shop in Simi Valley! read more

Signage to deter shoplifting 9. Audit your returns refunds 10. Having shorter displays and signage so you can see more of your store. 11. Using security cameras 12. Greeting every customer, customer engagement, and continued customer service My experience. My shopping trips to Goodwills have always been pleasant ones. Before my visit a couple weeks ago this location would have received a much higher rating. Unfortunately due to a poorly created and implemented "company wide policy", I wasn't allowed to shop at this store because I carried a backpack. I take the nearby Amtrak train to Simi Valley for work every week. I'm a 44yo businessman who works part time as a personal assistant for a local resident at a senior living facility. I was told by the store manager, Ryan Ortiz, that I had to leave my backpack carrying a laptop, iPad, iPhone, and various other valuable items on the public sidewalk "outside" of the store if I wanted to shop there. "Outside in a public area where it could be stolen?" I asked. "Yes" was his answer. Him and another employee then stated "Anyone with a backpack or a "large bag or purse"must leave it outside the store, you also can't leave it just inside the doors, and we don't offer for customers to leave it at the front near the register because then customers could say we stole something from them" His statement of it being a company wide/district wide policy is a falsehood because I've visited this location, Ventura, and Thousand Oaks (all locations I arrive to by train) and never once have I been denied being able to shop. I was one of two non-employees in the store when it opened at 9:00am. The other customer was female, carrying a purse, and she stood and listened to the exchange of words between myself and the staff. She was shocked, shaking her head, and was in disbelief that this was actually happening to me. I was told to contact corporate offices if I wanted to discuss it further. Please keep in mind this not a complaint directed at the manager or staff of this location. They were simply doing what they were instructed to do, I'm assuming, by a district manager. My complaint is about the ludicrous policy itself, the lack of training and the inconsistencies that exist from store to store. It seems to be a policy they enforce at their own leisure. Had I carried my usual briefcase into the store, according to the policy, I would have been allowed to shop. Having worked loss prevention and retail management for 22 years, I can honestly say that this Simi Valley location for Goodwill needs to invest in some basic staff training, on every level , in customer service and loss prevention. Found some awesome stuff here for cheap. A Piel leather bag for 5 bucks can't beat that when they average 200-300 dollars. I also got some nice dresses for $3 each. The lady behind the counter is so sweet she calls every customer baby but not in a creepy way more in a loving aunt kinda way. Most cashiers seem to hate their lives but not this lady she was genuinely happy to be doing her job. As she was ringing me up she kept complimenting everything I picked out saying omg baby this is beautiful or wow how amazing. Just a really nice person. Most of the stuff I bought was 50 percent off.. some sale they had going on. The selection for household goods was decent not as stocked as it normally is. In the past I've a scored a large vintage silver footed tray and a couple of nice wood frames. I think the inventory wasn't as plentiful as normal due to the 50 percent off sale. This store is clean and well organized. A nice place to stop when in Simi Valley. read more

Used to go to the other Goodwill, but this one is my new favorite. Clean, friendly staff, and awesome deals. I stop in once a week, usually Mondays because of the 25 per cent senior discount. Lots of stuff from Macy's, Penny's, Target. I have found tons of clothes with tags still on. Naturalizer, Clark's shoes, small appliances, dresses, etc. Last week all sweaters were $1, so I stocked up for winter. You won't be disappointed. read more

It's worth it to drive across town for this location. They seem to be neater, separate their dollar tag deals onto the rack for you so you don't have to endlessly search each item. I see all types of people here--which makes me feel more comfortable, since I'm mainly a bargain hunter & on a budget! though one time their was this lady obviously making a scene trying to return things she cut off the tag for way past their 7 day policy! So only good thing about this location is that it's clean & they have a big selection on items. But one HUGE flaw; they don't have dressing rooms. When I asked them, if they did they said no & when I looked super confused (because how else am I supposed to try on something before buying them??) they said for me just to try on the clothes over the clothes I have on right now..... How does that make any sense?? Lol, so I'm supposed to buy clothes I can't try on to make sure they fit properly? and what happened if I don't like the way it looks? Ughhhhh I got home today, super excited with my Urban Outfitters romper I scored only to find it had a nasty period stain in the crotch! How can they sell stuff like that!? The employees that work here are literally SAINTS. I just witnessed the craziest woman in here screaming at the top of her lungs that she had 4 dresses on hold in which I'm pretty sure she called the wrong store and wanted them on hold until next week. The fact that the gentleman she chose to unleash her "wrath" on was able to keep his composure and a smile on his face is beyond me. Just checked out this goodwill today and was so surprised! I found some incredible deals including half off all the clothing. The atmosphere was so calm and collective. As I was checking out, hunter was not only such a sweetheart but was so kind. I'm so thankful for their incredible employees who go above and beyond to help all customers and give kindness! I go into this goodwill store all the time. I stopped in there today not knowing I would but just happened to be in the area. Spent close to 2 hours shopping around filling my cart full. Was ready to check out and realized I did not even have enough cash on me so I told the cashier to hold it for me, that I had to run home and get more cash. Leaving the store at 2:35, at 3:40 I called the store to let them know I was almost there and they informed me that they had already put all of the stuff in my cart back on the racks. That's such bullshit. They couldn't have possibly hung all that back up in 5 minutes. More like they started putting it back the minute I walked out the door. Very disappointed. This was quite possibly the best thrifting experience I have ever had. The selection of vintage items was good. Salt and pepper shakers were placed together in pairs but not taped together with that horrible packing tape that ruins nearly everything it touches. Items were clean, well organized and well displayed. The store was also clean and well lit and there was a large selection of inventory spread nicely throughout the spacious store. Prices were fair although not cheap. But what set this store apart from any other goodwill, Salvation Army, assistance league, Cancer society, etc thrift store was my experience in checking out. One very nice cashier rang up my items while another very sweet worker CAREFULLY wrapped each item in several layers of packing paper and THOUGHTFULLY placed it into a box. I was sent out the door with two boxes that had been packed even better than I would have packed them myself. Never have I experienced such care in packing my purchases at any store, thrift or high end department. I must say that I am thankful that I don't live very close to this goodwill store because if I did it would be a place where I would spend way more time and money than I should. read more

I was in the store yesterday and left my prescription glasses there by accident. I just called the store and the gal said she couldn't help me because "it was too hard". After telling her they were prescription and no one else could use/buy them, her response was the same. Apparently customer service isn't their business. Won't be going back! read more
