Large selection of clothes (but dressing rooms aren't open )
Sally Y.

If shopping for something specifically used or shopping to look at used items for a good cause is your thing, this is one of the most varied Goodwill in town. Clothes, knickknacks, and household appliances are all here on the cheap with friendly service to help you find your treasure. Just a good place to browse whenever you're in the neighborhood cos you never know what you'll find!

very tight aisles where one person can walk but not stop and shop

It is very sad to see what has happened to the Goodwill stores in SF with their new layouts in stores - I have not purchased anything since the change as it seems they are more concerned on stacking items and not actually selling anything with how tight the aisles are - two people can't cross or share a walkway - the display shelving are too tall and too deep and too close to each other where you are not able to look and the top and bottom shelves are not accessible because aisles are too tight to stop and look if someone else is there recently the last row was against the back wall was made even more tight that you almost have to walk sideways. The corners with no display shelving and items get stacked looks horrible. The clothing has all shifted direction where you are looking through from back to front for most people. I have asked employees what they think and they seem unsure if they can comment....and suggested writing here. I don't know what management was thinking and this is supposedly how it works in Arizona stores but this makes no sense and the stores look very junk filled. Very sad to see what was an enjoyable experience and search for something interesting to no longer visiting. I hope they can reverse this or modify the stores as this is no longer an enjoyable experience at all locations.

This thrift shop isn't a bad place to go if you want cheaper items. There's a lot of clothes, and I mostly came for furniture. I was able to walk away with a weighing scale, but couldn't really find a lot of nice desk drawers or other options for lamps though there were a handful. Most of the focus is on women's activewear, long sleeve and short sleeve clothing. They have a 7-day warranty for electronics, so I bought a weighing scale, but I don't know if it actually works, and I'm going to test it out when I come home. Their furniture section is pretty limited, so if you're trying to come here, you would essentially have to spend some time. If you very intentionally come here hoping to bring back a nightstand or drawer, that's not guaranteed. However, there are a lot of other items like bed sheets that are used or even belts and hats to choose from. It's definitely not for everyone, but the prices are on the cheaper side. There's also a lot of organizers and random knick-knacks that might be interesting to look at if you've tried all the other locations like Facebook MarketPlace, Craigslist, or even NextDoor. The employees are pretty friendly there, and service is really quick. It's just a matter of you have to spend the time to go look at many items, and you might be overwhelmed by the selection because it's not exactly really neatly divided. But overall, it's clean, it's normal, and items are used.

Best Displays

While walking around the city, I happened upon this GW and was pleasantly surprised by how well displayed and uncluttered the products were. Usually most GWs have their products crammed together making it difficult to look at the individual item. Typical of most GWs, clothes were sorted according to color and article type, but not too squished together which made it nice.

Some good stuff. Decent book selection. A few boxes of LPs. Plenty of housewares. Worth stopping in if you're in the neighborhood.

Just this past Sunday, I found a strapless silk yellow Nicole Miller dress for $9. It's in perfect condition! You can not beat that.

There's always people selling their clothes when I visit. Women's clothing is on the right hand side and men's clothing is on the left hand side. They also sell shoes, belts, accessories, and jewelry. The last time I visited, I purchased a new pair of shoes for under $20! The prices are not bad at all, throughout the store. Service: Friendly and efficient. Parking: Metered, street. Luckily, not as much double parking as there used to be.

For that reason, if not for one million others, this is a fun place to shop. If you ever have been to any of the Buffalo Exchange stores, this location is very similar. They have their clothing broken up into the various sections: men, and women, as well as divided by sizes, and style of clothing: be that pants, shirts, women's tops, dresses, and all of the varying things in between. Plus, they always have a nice selection of shoes. That's one of the great things I find about this shop is that you can truly find a really unique pair of shoes. Last time I was in there, I found this great pair of vintage Pumas, in pristine condition. A pair, that I've been looking for forever. In terms of pricing, some people complain about that. I don't find it a problem. If you want something, you must pay the price for it. If you're looking for some discount prices, you can go shop all the thrift stores in the area, just hoping that you may be able to locate that one special item. The Buffalo Exchange, on the other hand, does all of that for you. They bring you the best of the best of vintage clothing. That's what they're known for. And, that's the greatest thing I find about them. Also, as you may know, if you ever shopped here, they do buy clothing from people. So, pretty much morning, noon, or night, you will see people walking in there with their bags of clothing, offering them for sale. I find this a really interesting process, being able to watch the transactional situations that are going on. People bring the clothing in, the store buyers except some of it, and maybe a week or so later, you're very probably going see it out there on the racks. One way or the other, this is a fun place to shop.

Careening from across the store comes a banshee yelling at me that I can't try on clothes no matter what. I have never seen this worker before and as a regular, it was obvious she is new (older maybe in her late 50's/60's, Latina, heavier set with red-brown curly hair). Instead of rudely yelling at your long time customers, it is management's responsibility to train your staff to respectfully tell your customers that the rules have changed (I was just at this same store last week and tried on clothes with zero issues), if she had done this, then it would have been no issue. Shante, the newish store manager, came by and calmly intervened and explained and corrected this newbie that customers still can try on clothes, just not in this section of the store but only in front of areas with mirrors. I was totally fine with this new rule, I was not fine with being yelled at by this untrained worker. Note to Management: please give this person more training because she is doing a big disservice to your otherwise great store (always had great interactions with management and staff like Ashley and Mariah) - it is obvious she is not ready to be put in a public interfacing position and needs more training and would be better in a non-public position like at the bins or the donations area. Advice for customers, avoid this worker at all costs.
