I was sexually assaulted at this location today, 1/24/26, at about 4 pm by an old white man. He brushed up against me, I thought accidentally, but when he said "scuse me" , he reached down and cupped my butt and gave it two grope-pats ( I don't really know how else to describe that). I was shocked, and turned to him and said "sir, you just touched my butt". He replied with "I know, I was trying to get by you". First of all, I am by no means a big girl. I'm about 5'6, size 4, and not taking up enough space for him to need to even come close to touching me to get by. Secondly, this man was probably 6'2 and skinny. He did what he did intentionally. I called him out after he said that to me, and said loudly "this strange man just grabbed my a**!" He came towards me aggressively, and at that point my husband, who'd been several aisles away, had come to see what was happening. The weirdo who grabbed me started to back up the second there was another man involved, and my husband told him something along the lines of he needs to keep his hands to himself. The man told my husband to suck his you know what, and then called me the B word. Up to this point, Goodwill as a business had nothing to do with what that pervert was up to. A worker at the store (a lady who looked to be early thirties at most, with auburn hair and fair skin) approached and asked if everything was alright, and I told her exactly what happened. I asked her if they were going to have the man leave, and was told they couldn't do that or they might get sued . I told her that wasn't right- a man had just assaulted me, and he didn't get any repercussions?? She said, well he walked away so just try to stay away from him. She refused to ask him to leave because "I didn't actually see him grab your butt, but I believe you". So, if you want to go sexually assault people with zero consequences, head to the Olympia goodwill. They'll let you do whatever, as long as you walk away from whoever you assaulted. And, they'll make your victim feel like they're in the wrong, guaranteeing they'll leave and you can continue through life, groping strangers consequence free. Goodwill doesn't care about the safety of their customers, especially women. read more

Stopped in again on a recent visit to Oly. The store is a typical Washington state Goodwill. Annoying that they don't have bathrooms or fitting rooms, but otherwise we found some treasures and then were on our way. I'm sure we'll be back. read more

This place is a hit or miss. I've found a lot of cool things here, but the pricing is ridiculous! But what gets me is the knick nack area and photos frames. Talk about totally insane pricing! $40 for a framed photo of some generic artwork? $10 for a chipped trivet? $30 for a Nike sweater? $7.99 starting price for shirts. The dvd/book area is pretty nice. BUT at the same time- a dvd and hardcover book are $4 each. Insane. Vinyl records are also $4. Insanity. 3 stars are mostly for when a certain color tags are $1.99. For reference, the Goodwill on yelm Hwy in Lacey, their shirts start at $3.99. Smaller location but overall their price their items fair and on the cheaper side. No wonder a lot are starting to not shop at Goodwill. Their increasing greed is disgusting. Why spend $20 on a pair of used Tommy Hilfiger pants when I could go next door to Ross or Macy's and get a brand-new pair for the same price on clearance? Not everyone who thrifts is looking to turn a profit. Some of us thrift for ourselves because the thrill of the treasure hunt is fun. Do better, Goodwill of the Olympic region or you'll continue losing loyal customers. read more

When used t-shirts ate $7.99 and a used water canister that retails Brand New at Walmart for $18.99 is somehow $21.99 used? You have to write the Corporate Office. This is no longer my "go to" for thrift shopping. Goodwill has been gouging patrons by raising their prices on "donated" goods to the point you may as well shop @ a TJ Max, Marshalls or Ross where you, at least, can buy new for the same prices. It's a BIG disappointment to me as I have shopped Good Will for many years. Not only have their prices "seriously risen" but their help is unfriendly and rude, and there is no dressing room. This isn't one of the bigger Goodwills, but they have tons of inventory. This is the place I go to when I don't want to buy things like milk crates or organizational stuff that someone got tired of but is perfectly good and marked down to a fair price. It's also not a bad place to look for sports or workout equipment if you want to try out a sport but you don't want to break the budget until you know it's going to stick. The service at this place isn't great (there's one cashier who was a little weird and more disengaged than usual and wouldn't make eye contact, but what do I care when I just bought a Starbucks mug for two bucks). This is a good place to donate as they have a drive through area in the back, but call first since sometimes they get too many donations early int he day and close early because they can't take in any more loads of items. read more

Always fun to take a run at the Goodwill. Not as organized as some thrift stores but staff is helpful and frankly it's all there.

Came by to dropoff donations and peruse anything for my hobbies. The donations line is outdoors on the west side of the building facing the street. The line starts at 10 am and due to covid, one must unload their own donations into the bins and get a tax slip online. No furniture donations were accepted when I was there on 1/13. The line goes as fast as people move so chill and wait. Store didn't have much that I was looking for, but it was well organized, clean and I'll be back. read more

I came here 5 times with donations. 3 out of those times were unsuccessful. They just had a sign, that they were closed due to staffing shortage. Donation lines are long and extremely slow. Staff members accepting donations were not very helpful. They asked me what I have and showed me the boxes where everything had to go. So I had to sort everything out myself right there, while the staff was looking at me if I was doing it correctly - no wonder lines were so long. read more

I've found the staff there to be polite & quite helpful. A contrast with most "commercial" stores where the help is often unfamiliar with the products and clearly wishes they were anywhere else. I also credit Goodwill with offering training & opportunities for folks that may have had some difficulties in other environments. read more

Staff is okay, decent layout to store. But no dressing rooms to try on clothes. They state their new policy is if it doesn't fit you can just return it, but you don't get your money back, just store credit. There are goodwills all over the country that have dressing rooms back after the 'pandemic' so why is it so hard to have a staff member unlock a door for someone to try on clothes. read more

I am so angry right now. My husband and I went to the Goodwill on Cooper Point Rd in Olympia this afternoon. This employee (whom I am guessing is a manager) comes up to my husband and starts yelling at him in front of other customers. She was yelling at my husband about not complying with the mask policy and being combative. My husband is disabled and has a hard time breathing with masks on. She calls for someone to escort him out of the store and was trying to make him hurry along and kept yelling at him the entire time. My husband is disabled and moves very slowly sometimes. He never never once raised his voice or said or did anything threatening to this lady or to anyone else. She kept yelling at him even after he almost fell down and never once asked if he was ok. I am so livid! Pandemic or not there is never a valid excuse to treat customers that way, especially someone who has a disability and/or is a senior citizen. I'm guessing that employee (I did not get her name) had probably treated people like this before. If you are disabled please don't go to this location unless you want to get mistreated and yelled at. read more

Honestly one of the best goodwills we've been to in the area. Full of just about everything in every size. The shoes were organized by size which is super helpful. A few drawbacks going into to my rating. 1. Disorganized. While things were organized by size, the lay out of where thing were placed was a little schizophrenic. Coats mixed in with shirts, jackets with Halloween. It was very confusing and left me feel like I missed something. 2. Price This was the most overpriced thrift store I've ever been too. We've been to most of the other goodwills in the area and I've never seen prices this high. Women's t shirts priced at $9.99, jackets at $20. 3. Safety. There were MANY people sitting in front of the store asking for money as you walk in. One man yelling things. I don't know how this issue can be fixed, but I wouldn't have gone in if I wasn't with my husband and won't come back I the future alone. Over all, this is a nice goodwill. You will find nice things, but be careful if you are going alone, and pay attention to sales days to get the best deals! read more

I visit the Goodwill store in every town I visit. This is the cleanest, most organized and easy-to-shop store I have ever visited...for example ...the shoes are very neatly placed on racks and well organized with the size and price clearly visible facing out so you can't miss it. It is a large store with everything from clothing to household and miscellaneous items. The dressing rooms are large and located in the middle of the store. Helpful signs everywhere including in the dressing rooms. Great half-price specials...just look for the color tag of the day. read more

Called on the phone to specifically ask if this Goodwill accepts a specific item for donation. The employee on the other end of the phone stated yes, they do accept this item, and that the item should be brought through the donation line. The following is the conversation, verbatim as I recall it, at the donation line: Employee 1: We don't take [donation item]. Me: I was told over the phone that you do. I asked specifically. Employee 1: Let me check (makes phone call). My manager says we don't. Me: Okay, but then you have an employee who is giving incorrect information to people over the phone. Employee 1: Yeah. Me: So could you please let your manager know that this is happening and ask that employees give out correct information or defer to someone who knows the answer in the future? Employee 2 (smug Olympia stereotype): That person didn't know what they were talking about. Me: I realize this, but that person is continuing to give misinformation to people. A clean and fairly big Goodwill store, although the prices seemed a little high. I haven't had especially good luck at the Olympia/Lacey Goodwills, but this one was a pleasant surprise. It's pretty large and has a decent selection, and their stuff all seems to be in good condition. Prices did seem to be somewhat high, especially on women's shoes. They did have cute styles and the shoes looked very gently used or nearly new, so you might score a deal on a colored-tag discount day. The medium-sized stores don't always have much of a selection of men's clothes and shoes, but this location had a decent men's section. The store was clean and well maintained and has convenient parking. If you're passing through Olympia and doing some thrifting, this Goodwill is worth a visit. read more

Worth it if you shop the sales, otherwise you're paying too much for someone else's discarded stuff. Think about it, Goodwill gets all their merchandise for free and pays their employees pittance- SOMEone is making a profit off it all. If you REALLY want a deal, check out the outlet in Tacoma. Everything is by the pound! Better yet, scope out the Free Store at the Westside Co-op! This particular Goodwill has a nice selection, with pretty quick turnover. From all the goodwills of the area this is the most expensive in at least 20mile radius. Even the Tacoma goodwills are les expensive. Including items that are originally from the dollar tree marked up. Not sure how they still get away with this pricing. Is absurd and honestly disgusting that they price like this specifically in this location where so many people can benefit from less expensive items.I stopped my donations and I'll be giving my business to a local thrift store that's nearby. read more

This is one of the better GW in the area. I think they have a bigger selection that most of the GW's in the Lacey/Oly/Tum area. It also doesn't smell too bad in here. I usually go for VHS and then peruse through the small electronics, records, and men's pants. They have a pretty big selection of movies for adults and kids and the men's clothes are okay. Usually pretty picked through, but sometimes you can find some good deals. They've got a lot of cool board games too and cheap TV's. Furniture dept. is kind of lame. I usually go on the weekends when they have 1/2 off and $1.29 sales. read more

Pretty much my entire wardrobe is thrifted, most of which I bought at this goodwill. I will probably never buy brand new clothing again, unless I needed new shoes or something really specific. Should post what they will and won't take on a sign. They have a sign at the donation area which states they things they will and won't take, but it does not include several things they do not take - in my case, a mattress pad. The reason stated was because of health concerns, which is valid. But maybe put that somewhere on your website or in the donation line before people pack their stuff up, drive it to the location, and wait for 20 minutes (because donation staff is inattentive). For a business that consists of making a profit from things they got for free, the least they can do is figure out how to run things efficiently. read more

This is a great thrift store to shop at. It is very clean and tidy and they always have an excellent selection of clothing and nicknacks. Also have very excellent customer service. This is a good sized Goodwill. A nice selection of all sorts of things that you may or may not need. I did find the prices here to be a bit higher than any Goodwill I've been to in Seattle. I'm shopping at a thrift store here. I am not paying $18 for a simple dress. I was impressed by their active wear section and there was an impressive assortment of shoes. Me and my family regularly go to the Olympia, Lacey WA goodwill stores. I recently went to the Olympia store and as I was checking out buying children's books they told me that the price had been changed to $1.99 where as i was paying just 49 cents for soft and 99 cents for hard back. I was shocked i have been buying children's book there for years and for the price to be raised $1.30 more is ridiculous. I guess I will not be buying books there anymore. read more

I have always had great luck at this location! I recently found a dining​ room table (6 seats) for less than 40 bucks and I was determined to bring it home with me to refurbish despite driving a small Prius​. The staff at this location was extremely helpful with loading my car (multiple times) and even took the legs off the table for it so we could fit the table in. The store is fairly large (compared to some of the others in the area) and is fairly organized despite the usual chaos associated with typical thrift stores. I definitely recommend all my thrifting friends to check out this location! read more

The Olympia Goodwill is a strange place. I go regularly and have filled my closet, bookshelf, and kitchen with finds. Like any thrifting, it's hit and miss. Some days are great, other days I find nothing. The clothes selection veers towards mall cast offs, so if you want arty-funky or classy, you'll have to dig. But I've found some really awesome things. The prices are reasonable for most things.That being said, some items are bizarrely over and under priced, as though the pricer doesn't quite know what's what. The staff is usually nice enough, and they mostly leave you alone. But it's not hard to get help if you need it. Traci, who's often at the dressing rooms, is particularly friendly. But what baffles me is the merchandise display. They keep changing it around and it just gets weirder. There are these display walls in the middle of the store. They hang clothes on them. Like, piles of clothes. In a way that it is impossible to look through the clothes. That just seems incredibly dumb. They also have tons of frames and art stacked leaning against other walls. Why not put the clothes on racks and hang the art on the weird display walls???!?!?!? The housewares sections are sort of organized, but the shelves are always kind of disasters, as is the luggage/bags section. They've recently opened a "special purchase" clothing section. I can't tell what is so special about the items in that section, because they are not discernibly different from any other clothes. Also, what's with the dresses on the four/cross stands? I hate having to walk in circles around them, plus it's hard to look through the dresses. It feels like there's too much stuff out at any given time in some sections and hardly anything in other sections. It's weird. I don't get it. read more

Ill Will Thrift stores in this area are a drag. Still, I've been repeatedly disappointed by this Goodwill location. $30 for a beat up old generic brand circular saw? You can get one brand new for $40 online. $30 for a rickety old tripod, $8 for plain old button-up shirts, $20 for a BROKEN mirror, $35 for 17" monitors with no cables, scratched screens and and no return policy? How about no. They also tape boxed items shut to hide the fact that there are components missing from the boxes. Value Village in Lacey isn't great but it's much better than Oly Goodwill. read more

Goodwill's prices are way too high. I never really find a "good" deal. That meaning I get up & do the happy dance. Summertime prices should be close to garage sale prices. Disappointing! Specially when you're anticipating something real better, specially after remodeling. No great selection of anything really, over priced as usual. Was considering to buy a portable bissell light vacuum stick, two of the exact same thing priced really different one almost $20 the other $11 and I notice why, the cheaper was coz didn't closed tight into the part that you open to clean the filter...This just shows the fact that any of this places are about "goodwill" cannot believe my eyes lookin at all the junk that has ridiculous prices here...sadly I have not found any good Thirftstore in all Olympia/Tumwater/Lacey area. Clean store, great selection. Things have a tendency to move very fast. How can you not love goodwill?

Okay, this was the first time I actually apologized for having too much stuff at the check stand. The clerk was noticeably ticked off that I had a cartful of linens and clothes during a 50% off sale. Isn't the reason for the sales to have people take advantage of them, and buy lots of stuff? I actually told this woman (who couldn't have been more than 23) that I would help her by removing all the hangers from the clothes and find their price tags while she rang up the glassware that really only amounted to 12 small pieces. Here I am again, apologizing for buying stuff. I tried to cheer this woman up because she obviously needed some attitude adjustment so we were talking about how I found a really nice blouse in the linen department that someone had tried to hide in hopes that nobody would buy it before they returned with some cash. She actually admitted to feeling some kind of joy or victory when she outsmarted a customer who came back only to find an item they wanted, but couldn't afford at the time, gone. With employees like these, how can a store make any money? I'm sure they do, and lots of it, but this girl was apparently economically disadvantaged for some reason because she was working at Goodwill Industries, the organization that trains unemployable people and makes them employable. Some people don't want to be employable. Maybe she would have more fun and success at a collection agency whose main objective is to find people and threaten them with lawsuits and bad credit reports if they don't pay up. Or maybe she could get a job with the IRS? With an insurance agency denying sick people medical care? Just a thought, because customer service doesn't appear to be her cup of tea. Olympia can be a bit seedy and naturally the Goodwill is full of people that seem like they are scanning the aisles looking for women who leave their purses unattended in their carts while they shop. You've got to remember not to do this, especially in Olympia. The place is crawling with druggies who like to hang out under the bridges and around the Methadone clinic which is near the hospital, where this Goodwill just happens to be located. There is also something about Yauger park that attracts them, this area is not the most desirable part of Olympia to be shopping. I indicated that the shoes in the photo was not helpful because canvas shoes are one thing that you should NOT buy second hand. The spores that cause fungal infections like Athlete's foot can live for years without a host, especially in places like a sweaty canvas shoe, Yuck! read more

Among the thrift stores that I have been to, which is quite a few, this location could do a better job at organizing and marking the items for sale. For example, shoes are organized as children's, men's, and women's, but are not organized at all by size. Why not? I'm not sure. This lack of further organization can be seen in other parts of the store such as books, and the other clothing departments. To my knowledge, this is one of the larger goodwill locations around and could really benefit from some solid organization and labeling. read more
