Consignment shops are much better than Goodwill. Consignment may cost more but the is in excellent condition and generally a bit trendier.

The Diaper Bank of North Carolina is located in Durham, NC. It is sort of like a food bank in a…read moresense but instead of food they partner with 18 agencies to provide diapers; feminine products and incontinence products to those with a need for them. They want each family to have access to basic necessities for better health; dignity and quality of life. Since 2013, they have distributed over 15 million diapers. I volunteered for a two hour shift at the diaper bank. You are in a warehouse that is not climate control but there are fans. We were provided instructions how to repackage the diapers and rewrap the new bundles in plastic wrap. In that 2 hour time frame, everyone there repackaged 19,500 diapers so that was impressive. If you are looking for an agency to volunteer or donate this one serves a good purpose.

Most of us do not spend a lot of time thinking about diapers. But if you are a parent, grandparent,…read moreor caregiver without enough of them, they can become a major source of stress, guilt, and desperation. Public safety net programs such as The Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) and Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP, previously known as Food Stamps) do not cover the purchase of diapers, often leaving families with a difficult decision between buying diapers and other necessities with their limited funds. For families in need, something as small as a diaper can have a significant impact. They are located at the corner of Kiss Dr. and Club Boulevard, you'll make a left and we are inside the green fence on the right. The temperature inside the warehouse is the same as the outside, so it is important to dress appropriately and to also wear closed-toe shoes. Each volunteer needs to complete the online volunteer waiver before attending the event (http://bit.ly/diaperwrap), but they also have hard copies on hand when you come in person. First time coming here, and I would give 5 stars if not for the exorbitant pricing. Adults costing…read moremore than kids at that, for a kids museum has always rubbed me wrong. But this place is quite expansive with several areas including wildlife, butterfly and insect garden, a train tour that takes 2 laps around (might as well get it for the $6 a ticket), and several outdoor play areas including a tree house and mist/water areas. Place was crowded, but there were still plenty of spaces available at 10:30 in the garage. If I lived closer, I might consider a membership to save costs, but I live too far currently to justify that. The cafe food was mid, and again too expensive. The pricing for me knocks a star off, but if you've never been and are prepared to spend a couple hundred bucks for the day on a family of 4, you'll probably enjoy!

There is a lovely wildlife area, butterfly garden, fun little train tour, an outdoor treehouse, and more. The price was quite high, but I imagine based on the number of staff and the animals that this location is quite expensive to maintain. The little gift shop was also great with lots of children's games, clothing items, toys, and more. If I was in the area I would definitely consider an annual pass. All of the staff were lovely from the train driver to the ticket takers. Fun location!

Even though I'm not from the area, I like to stop at different Goodwill's when I'm traveling. I…read morestopped at this particular Goodwill twice a month. It is very clean. They have a great selection of everything. The staff is very nice. Very helpful. Just in case you're wondering they do not have a public bathroom. Just wanted to throw that in there, they do not have a return policy. Once you buy it, it's yours and the only reason I bring this up is I was at the checkout I purchased a pair of shoes and immediately after paying, before walking out the store before walking away from the counter, I realized there was a hole in the bottom of the shoe the manager was standing beside the clerk and I said, "there's a hole in the shoe, can I just return them?" I didn't want my money back just a little gift card. I think $4.99. The answer was no, that was a surprise. I said, there's a hole in the shoe. He said, there's no returns I donated a pair of shoes that day and lost $4.99. I'm not upset about that. I just wanted to let you guys know there is a no returns policy. Make sure you check all your items before you purchase. Have a great day thrifting.

The book section was pretty good and the houseware's seemed much better arranged than other Goodwills I've seen in the area. I'm very happy that my friend brought me here. I will definitely return eventually.
