We dropped several donations off this morning. They make it super easy - you just go around back and use their bins. After that, I had to have a look around. I kept myself from buying some seriously cute decor because we're cutting back, but I did pick out three button down shirts for my husband and the grand total was under $5! This is a real thrift store, everything was priced very well, unlike some others.

They have a great selection of everything. The staff is very nice. Very helpful. Just in case you're wondering they do not have a public bathroom. Just wanted to throw that in there, they do not have a return policy. Once you buy it, it's yours and the only reason I bring this up is I was at the checkout I purchased a pair of shoes and immediately after paying, before walking out the store before walking away from the counter, I realized there was a hole in the bottom of the shoe the manager was standing beside the clerk and I said, "there's a hole in the shoe, can I just return them?" I didn't want my money back just a little gift card. I think $4.99. The answer was no, that was a surprise. I said, there's a hole in the shoe. He said, there's no returns I donated a pair of shoes that day and lost $4.99. I'm not upset about that. I just wanted to let you guys know there is a no returns policy. Examples: 2 diamond art painting kits- their price: $4.99/go to Hobby Lobby and purchase the EXACT same kit for $3.50! Plain clear glass vases for arrangements-their price $5.99/ go to The Dollar Store and purchase the exact same vase for $1.25! Or go to At Home and purchase other bigger vases for less than the $19.99 prices they had! A framed generic picture (not art work- A PRINT) in a plastic frame $44.99!!! My lesson for the day: I will NEVER take another item to this Goodwill store and more than likely any goodwill store if this is how they want to support a community. Even if it is a couple of miles from my home and convenient! I'll go out of my way to support another charity- donating and purchasing! This was an eye opener and it really disappointed and saddened me. I truly hated to give this review but BUYER BEWARE. PS: The Goodwill store in the Brier Creek area has some better prices and IMHO better selection. And I spent money there! So much for not wasting my time. Note in the Pocket provides clothing to children and their families from socks to shoes to underwear to pants to tops to jackets. A school social worker puts in a request and Note in the Pocket takes care of the rest and delivers the clothing to the school. Note in the Pocket takes donations of gently used clothing. These are then sorted, processed to make sure the clothing meets the quality for these students. They even have an Amazon wishlist. For the last ten years there has been a Socks & Undies 5K Fun Run (or walk). They want to clothe 10,000 children in 2023. There is a virtual run for those that cannot go in person. Note in the Pocket has been a rewarding place to volunteer and donate as they are doing good one child at a time.

(I hate to just pick on this one in particular, but it's every single Goodwill I've been to in NC. When my husband And I visited Myrtle Beach South Carolina, on my request, we decided to stop in to a Goodwill and let me tell you, I was amazed. Every single piece of clothing was organized into size and color; men, women's and children alike and it was twice the size of any one here in NC and to me this makes much more sense! It makes sense not only for the customers, but employees as well. Don't get me wrong, most everyone loves the thrill of the hunt, but they also love convenience. I think this would cut down on time spent seeking your size, time spent waiting to check out and more time to look for that missing piece of vintage china or that one particular framed Robert Furber bouquet of the month you've been searching for. It was clean and somewhat organized but I couldn't find what I was looking for and oddly enough there wasn't even a dish section which most thrift stores have a lot of dishes. So that was weird. She was great at answering my messages (messaging me back at midnight to confirm she is coming the next day, and confirmed the next day as well). She and a guy came in and took all our excess furniture off our hands! We had a great experience! She was really friendly. I will add that she didn't take a chair because it had animal hair on it. I am sure if I asked her she can help transport it to a dumpster she would agree. P.S., this organization helps serve many people--some of which are Black. This i a great time to donate since this charity is a way of supporting the Black Lives Movement. Due to COVID-19, a lot of companies, such as Salvation Army, aren't open. This is one way to donate!

Those of us who have ever known or been affected by the homeless know that they live a hard life and that there is an invisible barrier between the homeless and the rest of society. That barrier is hard to breach because so many of the things that we take for granted or not available to those on the street. We want these folks to get a job and be self-sufficient, but in order to get a job we have to have an address and contact information and the ability to receive mail as well as legal documentation such as an ID and Social Security information. City with dwellings is a place that tries to bridge that gap. There are a lot of food kitchens and shelters but those do not always "teach a man how to fish." It always humbles me when people give and work for others so I signed up to volunteer on one of my days off during the holiday. Every time I volunteer I am surprised at how rewarding it is. CWD helps the community and volunteering is easy and painless so I recommend that everyone do it if possible.

The Diaper Bank of North Carolina is located in Durham, NC. It is sort of like a food bank in a…read moresense but instead of food they partner with 18 agencies to provide diapers; feminine products and incontinence products to those with a need for them. They want each family to have access to basic necessities for better health; dignity and quality of life. Since 2013, they have distributed over 15 million diapers. I volunteered for a two hour shift at the diaper bank. You are in a warehouse that is not climate control but there are fans. We were provided instructions how to repackage the diapers and rewrap the new bundles in plastic wrap. In that 2 hour time frame, everyone there repackaged 19,500 diapers so that was impressive. If you are looking for an agency to volunteer or donate this one serves a good purpose.
