*°*°*°*°*°*°*°*°*°*°*°*°*°*°*°*°*°*°*°*°*°*°*°*°*°*°*°* I attended the December 2023 Arlington VA #Goodwill #Meetup. (What a great way to close out the year!) These events are always fun, especially since the store opens an hour early exclusively for Meetup members. This was my first time visiting this location, so I was eager to attend. The store was clean, organized, and the employees were eager and ready to greet us shoppers...and there was a BUNCH of us. Here are a few pics of what I got (and didn't get). This store had plenty of high-end items (e.g., Gucci, Louis Vuitton, etc.) I'll definitely be returning soon. __ I thrift. @DCthriftish I eat. @f.hux

This is the goodwill on 10 South glebe rd in Arlington va don't go there

I used to work for goodwill at 10 South glebe rd in Arlington va they suspended me because they thought I stole two pairs of shoes when this guy came in and gave them to me and than yesterday they called me at 2:45 pm talking about I'm fired they suspended me without pay but they supposed to be a second chance company that's a lie bc they fired me after two days I recommend not working for goodwill in Arlington at 10 South glebe road they also said they like me and want me to stay with them but just because of a mistake they fire me I'm not the only one they did it to they did it to 4 other people

Overall, not a bad experience. It was my first time coming this Goodwill and as expected, it takes time to find good pieces. The experience was made enjoyable by thrifting with a good friend. Though some pieces were stained / didn't fit well, there were some gems that were definitely repairable on a DIY level. If you have the patience to sort through the store and are looking for certain pieces, chances are you may find something good

This place is "hit or miss," I may find one or two really great items. If I have errands in the area, it is worth a visit.

We took the CIA plane from Camarillo Airport on a twin-engine STOL (Short Take Off & Landing) Cessna, which took about 25 minutes of smooth over-water flight. CIA (Channel Islands Aviation) is the official concessionaire to California's Channel Islands National Park and The Nature Conservancy. Talking to the island staff of The Nature Conservancy, whose mission is protecting nature and preserving life, I've learned a bit of history of Santa Cruz Island and what they've accomplished here thus far. The western 80% of the island is owned and operated by The Nature Conservancy. Here, the Department of Earth Science of UCSB (University of California-Santa Barbara) administers the Santa Cruz Island Natural Reserve and maintains a research station. The eastern 20% of the island is owned by the National Park Service and is open to public visitation. Once on the brink of ecological collapse, Santa Cruz Island now offers visitors a glimpse of what southern California used to be like hundreds of years ago. The Conservancy worked with the National Park Service, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and the Department of Fish and Game, to engage in an intensive science-based restoration program, to save and revitalize the natural communities of Santa Cruz Island. After three decades of tireless work, Santa Cruz Island has emerged as a successful island restoration and innovative conservation, focused on preserving the island's unique plants and animals and sharing lessons learned in island restoration with the whole world. I don't really consider myself a conservationist, but on my return flight back to Camarillo Airport, I looked down at the island below with a different perception and perspective. For what it's worth, I made a personal donation online and join as a member of The Nature Conservancy.

We were greeted by 3 staff members (apologies I don't remember their names). I initially thought this was just a venue to smash stuff but it was explained that this is a mental health venture aimed at spiritual healing. After signing the waivers and donning our PPE, we went in. The wooden structure isn't huge so you cant get running starts or make any long over hear arm movements, but it ended being just the right amount of space to get your smash on. Initially I was caught up in the novelty of smashing things, but a point in time came where that novelty faded and I found myself tapping into an aggression and emotion I did not go there with. It wasn't until I stood there out of breath with my hands sore that I truly understood what this place was for. That session provided a space and avenue for me to truly let go, for just a little bit. If you haven't done that recently (or ever), you need to book a session to understand what im talking about. A challenge was issued to me to put in work on the water heater and I made a decent hole in it but that thing was tough. They sure don't make em like they used to.

Great experience at Remix Rage Smash Room. I visited a few weeks ago based on a Groupon that I had…read more The staff was extremely helpful in organizing my session and preparing for my appointment. The site was well furnished with safety gear (goggles, gloves, etc.), tools (bats, sledgehammers, etc.) and objects to smash (microwave oven, water heater, glass bottles, etc.). It was stress relieving and fun with the opportunity to damage and destroy inanimate objects in a normally civilized world. I definitely recommend if in the DMV area.

Normally the 2 volunteers that take me back are not chatty with me (but are with each other) and neither really seem interested in helping me - I believe Diane and Mattes. Nice enough people but they just seemed a bit annoyed or bored or both, seemingly every time we were there. That all changed the last time I was in, which was a few weeks ago and had 2 different people help me. They were volunteers Valerie and Lisa (purple hair). They both seemed excited to show me the dogs (and Valerie had helped me in the cat room - although there were only 2 cats and one was adopted!). Those two ladies were funny, cheerful and and answered all of our questions. Ended up not adopting but they said that was OK - I could come as many times as I wanted until I found the right dog (or cat).

I feel like they try to get to know each animal and support folks who are fostering as much as possible. I can't speak to the adoption side, but they seem very accommodating to that as well, trying to find the best fit and take time to understand the behavioral info that I shared with them. For fostering, it is our call if we want to meet potential adopters at the shelter and elsewhere - this can be a little confusing but I think it's better to have those in-depth conversations with those who have spent more all-day/all-night one-on-one time in advance of meeting of creatures.
