Perfect spot to grab a coffee and snack before some shopping. Both of our coffees were made perfectly and we enjoyed splitting a bacon cheddar scone. My daughter wanted something fruity and they didn't have much to offer, but worked with us on figuring it out! We ended up adding their homemade fig syrup to a bottle of sparkling water and it got a thumbs up from the kid. Pretty small inside but we were able to snag some barstool seats. I am from the Pacific NW, so maybe my expectations are above what Chatanooga can achieve. Hate to sound snotty, but... I tried two times to get a simple Americano coffee and it just tastes NASTY! I think it is one of those things where people don't know, what they don't know. The locals appear to be fine with it, but I'm tell'n ya, as a coffee expert from the PNW, it tasted really weird. Just because a coffee has a flavor to it, it doesn't mean it tastes good. I felt like I was sucking on sour, unventilated pond water. After two tries, I just gave up. read more

Came here after browsing nearby "breakfast spots" and saw someone else's photo of a delicious looking egg bagel sandwich. After arriving it turns out they don't make those anymore, their only egg product is frittata. I like a good frittata so I opted for the $9 frittata and toast ($7 without the toast). Frittatas are meant to be a pie slice with a crust.. or at least that's what you expect for a $7 serving at a coffee shop. Whatever this is it looks like something you buy in the freezer section at Walmart and heat up. Or something in a warmer at a hotel continental breakfast. Very disappointing. I ordered a cappuccino or a latte and I really could not taste the espresso. I don't know if it was the coffee they use or the way the shot was dialed in. This was the first time I threw out a coffee and couldn't drink it. My friend did the same thing. I got an iced latte with toasted coconut and almond flavor. I was super excited for all the flavor options they had. I think their house-made flavor syrups may just not be good. I can't even explain it, but the latte just tasted off and unpleasant and it was clearly from the flavor shots. My friend who got vanilla flavor said it was sickly sweet even though she only got one pump, and my friend who got tiramisu flavor actually liked it. So it was 1/3 who could finish their drink. Met a new friend here while in between meetings. When I ordered a latte with one shot, the barista said "Well, we pull double shots so guess we can throw half out?" I replied in agreement since I'm not sure why I would risk my healthy level of caffeine intake be altered and changed my order to the smaller size to avoid an unnecessary charge. I also ordered the blueberry muffin which comes from Niedlov's (separate review). My latte was too hot and bitter at first. Had a burnt taste then seemed to be more balanced flavor-wise as it cooled down. Espresso amount seemed right. Latte was priced similarly as other downtown coffee shops. My blueberry muffin was good, for a cold muffin that I requested to be warmed. Hoping Goodman Coffee is just having an off day. read more

When I got to Goodman (which I found via the Yelp app), I was surprised to see lots of other conference attendees there who probably had the same idea I had. It didn't matter, however--Goodman is quiet, relaxing, and I love the rustic lodge-like decor with lots of tables and seating, including a big comfy couch. It's cozy and soothing. I also love the location near lots of shopping on Warehouse Row! I tried the seasonal special Pumpkin pie latte and eyed some of the baked goods, like a sticky bun or donut. Two coffees and a bagel egg and cheese sandwich was about $13.00. The bagel is large enough to split. Other items I saw included muffins, scones and cookies. Goodman is a small intimate coffee shop that offers a good place to enjoy a coffee and study. If you want to meet a friend here and deal with a painful parking situation, then go for it. They have limited offerings on food mainly consisting of scones, muffins, and you can get eggs. I'd only plan on getting drinks here since that is truly what they're good for. The space is super quaint and wide open for finding a good place to sit, even though seating is limited. The vibe is cozy yet airy, too. Customer service was solid and everything went pretty seamlessly with ordering and receiving our orders in a timely manner. We spent a few hours in here studying and we were able to get some studying done without much distraction. read more

This urban coffee shop is located in Warehouse Row, which is one of the popular downtown Chattanooga locales that I enjoyed during my short stay. The counter is short of in the middle of the shop, which slightly threw me off a bit. I told the barista that I'm new to coffee and wanted a light roast iced coffee. He hooked me up without being overly inquisitive. The coffee was poured from a milk like jug that had obviously been premade, the taste was slightly bitter. In the area so I was checking to see what coffee shops were around and found this one. The exterior and interior were very inviting and looked like a place you could spend some time relaxing in. I ordered a drip coffee and a cinnamon scone (I think it was a scone, it was shaped like one). For the drip coffee it was self service and they had a variety to choose from. The one I had was okay though I didn't enjoy it too much (luck of the draw). The scone tasted fresh but the flavor didn't stand out. Service was efficient and pleasant. It's got a great modern/rustic look with great big windows that provide a lot of natural light, perfect for sipping some coffee before or after a long day of hanging out downtown. They sell mugs and ground coffee and little French presses. The staff is very attentive and helpful and I even had the opportunity to meet the owners who were in there taking orders and making coffee with the rest of the staff.
