As I'm reading the bad reviews I'm noticing a lot of unhappy customers that purchased a Lifebooker deal. AND I AM ONE OF THEM. I purchased a Lifebooker (from Lorenzo) for the balayage treatment because I can't afford to pay hundreds of dollars for my hair. I made the mistake of not looking up reviews for this place. With that being said, here was my experience: 1. He was half an hour late. We then greet, he seemed friendly, and we get started 2. I showed him photos of grey hair. I wanted grey highlights. He starts applying the bleach. I wait and wait. 3. My hair turned out bright yellow/orange. Looked really bad, he said he could fix it and make it silver how I wanted... so I still was not discouraged. 4. I scheduled for a second appointment (since I had a neck injury and I was there for 5 hrs) I couldn't sit there any longer. 5. Second time I go back, he adds toner, than silver dye. 6. I get my final wash, and then he says he has no time to dry my hair...soooo 7. I leave with wet hair, and when it dries I see the horrible, horrible color. (hues of brown, grey, and green) My problem with my experience is that I felt like I was wasting his time. Maybe I wasn't a "real customer" because I bought a coupon, but I could have turned into one. If he didn't want to do the silver he should have communicated that with me instead of saying sure I can do that and then fucking up my hair. I won't be going back there. Why would I? I payed $65 for the lifebooker and tipped $20. I payed MONEY to look like crap. Now I have to pay more MONEY to fix it. The best part of that place was the hair washer lady! She was amazing. And asked me if I wanted anything to drink..water, coffee, tea? I didn't realize I had options. And she asked me how my day was going. read more

I first want to start out by saying that I liked the personality of my hair stylist...she just didn't do what I asked for. I came in here essentially wanting to have a more blended version of my (then) strawberry blonde hair. After convincing me to get a full head of highlights instead of half (which was 100 dollars more), I ended up spending almost 300 including tip for something I didn't want. My hair came out super blonde and ashy, and I wanted golden and caramel and even showed her a photo. After being super bummed about spending that kind of money completely frying my hair and having the color wash me out, I called the salon and asked if she could tone it. I went in a few days later and although the tone was a little better, it was not a golden honey color that I wanted. Also, the tone isn't permanent so soon it will be back to the color I didn't like. I feel totally ripped off and want my money back, because now I have to go to yet another place where someone will work with me to understand exactly the tone that I want...which shouldn't be hard. The only reason I'm giving 2 stars is that the hairdresser was pretty nice overall. read more

Amazing staff!!! The receptionist greeted me before I even fully got in the door and had the most inviting smile. I was thoroughly impressed with cleanliness and decor of the salon. The ambiance was relaxing yet fully of contagious energy! All the stylists had great hair and were all dressed very hip yet professional. Yesterday was my first return visit to Goodform following the departure of my stylist Lauren last year. Lauren cut my hair for about a decade, and I loved every cut I received. After some in-home cuts, followed by haircuts from another friend, I decided I wanted the salon experience again. I tried to describe a stylist I remembered to the receptionist over the phone and booked an appointment. The stylist I received was not the one I tried describing, but no matter. My hair looks fantastic!!! My appointment was with Julie: professional, creative, experienced, and friendly. I described what I wanted and she delivered. And her suggestions on how she wanted to cut my hair and style my hair were spot on. I love my new 'do! And the salon experience was great. Julie and her assistant did not rush, allowing for a precise haircut, blowdry, and style. Goodform is not cheap, but the price tag is totally worth it. First of all let me say i am beyond particular when it comes to... just about anything if I'm being completely honest about what I really am. But this review is about hair. First off the bat, I was referred to Emma by a friend of mine in who I hesitantly trusted with this hair adventure of mine. I have not been having the best of luck when it comes to getting this gnarly hair put in its place. I usually have purple hair that I do myself as I also am a cosmetologist, but have gotten tired of using 5 mirrors to do my own hair at home. Since the mirrors have gone up, finding a new hair stylist to do what I want exactly how I want is like having to find a 1mm piece of blonde hair in a hay stack (yes the needle is easier to find at this rate) I went 2 years of letting myself go after a lifetime of disappointment. But when I tell you I found that hair in the hay stack, it is the best freaking thing on the planet that is giving me life right now. Emma , you God sent Angel of a hair slayer, is a complete package. Brains, beauty, and great personality what more do i need? I showed her my garbage aka hair on my head and she turned that *insert your choice of curse word(s)* into hair that Jesus's tears nourished and coloured it purple. Now unfortunately the previous person who ruined my hair put red( i asked for purple btw) on it so my hair is stained pink underneath at the moment (it really needs Jesus at this point but Emma is closer to me than heavens gates right now) things couldn't have gone better. I no longer need to search for the pot of gold at the end of the rainbows anymore! I found the unicorn and Emma came riding it down the side of that rainbow. The knowledge base the girl has is exactly what I expect from any other REAL professional. Completely understands her terminology and is up to date on her applications and products. Now the salon, it is so laid back and clean. The vibe between the stylists are just amazing. Ok I have to mention just how fluid these guys run it is like going into another world where everything actually makes sense for once. Assistants were doing great and other stylists will help out as well like a super well oiled machine on 5 hour energy drinks x 100. They pick up where one leaves off like a few gears turning perfectly in sync without skipping a beat. This place is absolutely amazing! I have been going to the same place to get my blonde locks re-touched for years, and usually I am beyond scared to go to someone new but I needed a change and I had heard great things about Good Form so I thought I would give this place a try and I am so happy I did!! Rebecca did my color and blow out. She was very precise and patient, she went out of her way to make sure not only did I like it, but LOVE it! And I do!! We went blonder than I have been in a while and it looks so fresh and natural. She was also so sweet and fun to talk to and her assistant was awesome as well!! The whole place has a great vibe! I'm really, really fussy about who touches my hair... maybe because I have hard-to-cut curls and a few bad haircuts over the years. But I've found my match with Chevonne Moore at Goodform! I've seen Chevonne now for a few years, and she is wonderful. Every cut has been adorable, and my color is always perfect, even with tons of color-resistant gray. I like to try new styles every so often, and Chevonne is really good at interpreting my vague descriptions and turning them into a perfect cut. Customer service/friendly factor is a big deal to me and will make or break my experience. While this is a great salon (atmosphere), great hair cut, the friendly factor was less than desirable. I was in need of a new salon and thought I would purchase a deal on Lifebooker to test out a new spot (I didn't want to drop $75 on a haircut without reason). The deal was valid with with Rebecca only. The front desk service was neutral, nothing to write home about, I was directed to sit and wait but never offered any beverage, even though the woman sitting next to me was drinking her tea happily. The hair cut was great, I just didn't get a warm feeling or feel welcome or comfortable in the chair. She wasn't rude or anything, maybe she was having a bad day, maybe she was mad because it was another Lifebooker deal, either way I felt as though I was wasting her time. I was at the 99 cent store of all places buying religious candles when in line I turned around to see who was behind me and I see this lovely woman with amazing curly hair...I thought to myself. "Aleeza, you need to ask her where she gets her hair done or you will regret it" . So I listened to my inner hair worshipper and did it... "Ma'am I LOVE your hair, who does it?" She said "Thank you I do it myself, I'm a hairdresser" "What's your name and where do I go?" "Martine & Goodform" ***angels singing in the background*** Those religious candles are really working and my purchase hasn't even been completed yet...Because god just answered my prayer, after a month of failing to get a haircut even though I really needed one because I am afraid that people won't know how to work my locks and my last hairdresser was just slacking and inconsistent with her cuts. You see, my hair is my prized possession, even on a bad day I can just throw some sunnies on and shake my head and feel like a star. If someone Ef's it up I have to go see my therapist for an emergency conference, I call FOX News, Homeland Security...it's a big deal. So the next day I booked an appointment with her at the salon, I was having the worst day EVER and was excited to escape into Goodform. I was also hoping since I didn't know her it wouldn't be one of those awkward moments where you're in the chair talking about stuff and you're thinking "I just want to read US Weekly and catch up on all the trashy gossip about who's doing who and who is wearing it better." However the minute Martine sat in front of me and started talking I was like "I ain't gonna need no magazine...she'll be just fine. Not only is she awesome and totally understood what I wanted "Sexy and Flowy" Yes!!!! But her Personality ROCKS. She made my day. She didn't hack my hair...she loved it and cut it like it needed to be cut. All I can say is she LOVES what she does, she's happy at Goodform and that makes for a lifetime hair experience. I purchased a LifeBooker for 2 blowouts at this salon. They were able to get me in last minute which was great. I was told I would have Rebecca as she was the only stylist who does the LifeBooker blowouts. Rebecca wasn't friendly, which is fine, but the issue for me came at the end. I expressed i wanted curls and volume as my hair lies very flat and straight. At the end she asked if I wanted hair spray and I had said I wished there was a little more curl and volume to my hair and she replied that she was only getting $10 for this blowout and she usually charges $75! Needless to say i was shocked at how rude and unprofessional of a response that was. She didn't offer to curl for extra cost or even try to help in any way. Why would you agree to do the LifeBooker blowouts if you aren't happy with how much money you make from them? Doesn't make much sense to make the customer feel bad about it as well. I was so put off that I won't even return for my 2nd blowout I paid for. Perhaps this will make Rebecca happier that she doesn't have to waste her time on another $10 blow-dry. read more

Chevonne is a bang master. Hey hey hey -- I'm talking about hair here. Seriously, though... I followed Chevonne from another salon and was really happy the first time I visited her at Goodform. This place is a hidden gem in LA -- it's as hip and stylish as any salon you'd find in Beverly Hills, but with zero snobbery. Chevonne's been cutting my hair for a few years now and I am always thrilled with the results. I keep my hairstyle fairly simple and no fuss, but she always interprets my requests into something even better than I was hoping for. She cuts the best fringe (bangs)... natural, piecey, sexy... I always get so many complements on them after seeing her. So I done did it. I went from sexy lioness mane to a wanna be Alexa Chung hair do. And boy o' Boy i don't regret this decision one bit. I knew if I was going to do it, I had to do it with my girl Chevonne Moore. I hold her accountable and responsible for all my rad short hair styles that I have ever had. She's the equivalent to my hair styles as Chris McMillan is to Jennifer Anniston's signature hair styles. I wouldn't trust anyone else or let anyone near me with scissors with a 6 foot pole. I mean when you meet Chevonne Moore she's the total package and you'll see why you would trust her..she plays your therapist, plays comedian, she's beautiful inside and out, tells you some of her most funniest and personal stories, she cuts your hair, gives you great advice on hair and life....and if you ever want to go drastic..she always diagnoses the problem and makes sure you're cutting your hair out of wanting for yourself....not chopping off a part of some symbolic bad love history. With that she wouldn't do it. She's the type to tell you what will honestly work for your unique self, which in that I really appreciate. I've been a victim of bad or so-so haircuts my whole life. The bowl cut from Dumb & Dumber? I've had that. The "Rachel" cut gone bad? I've had that too. But then I discovered Goodform. Cynthia Kendall is a haircutting genius. Magic hands, she has! I told her that I wanted bangs and that she could do anything else with my longish hair as long as she didn't shave it all off. She proceeded to cut my hair in the most unconventional way, pulling it across my face and using a combination of larger shears, small scissors and a razor. She kept the length but gave it shape that I never knew was possible. Now I shower, air-dry, work a little pomade into my head and go. No fussy maintenance, thank goodness. It's pretty wonderful how a good haircut can change everything. I've also had a wave perm with Julie Rea and she was great. You know how everyone thinks of permed hair as frizzy, crunchy, and gross? Julie Rea drop-kicked that stereotype because my hair was wavy but still silky afterwards. Looked good even as I grew it out. I walk out a happy camper every time. In between major haircuts, bang trims are free so go pay them a visit the next time you want your 'do redone. Music in the shop and the other stylists are also sweetie pies. Chevonne has been cutting my hair for a few years now and I have never been disappointed. I followed her from another salon to Goodform (which, incidentally, is an awesome place - as another reviewer said "Hip... but not pretentious"). Recently, she started doing my color as well and I have to say she is really helping me get my hair back in tiptop shape. It's so much more healthy now and the color is great! When you look up "hair stylist" in the dictionary, a little picture of Chevonne's head should accompany the requisite definition. She is truly a faithful gem in a sea of fools. The mark of a true professional: she takes her time with her clients. Which is meant to say, that she takes pride in what she does, is extremely detail-oriented, and her clients reap the benefits. I get compliments all the time on my hair, and Chevonne has seen me through a multitude of different hairstyles: short, long, blonde, brunette -- you name it. A tip for those looking for a fresh start, a new "energy" or just a new look -- go see Chevonne and she will take you there. If you want to read your book while she does your hair, she lets you do your thing. But, if on the other hand, you want to talk, she is knowledgable about music, art, and goings-on in Los Angeles and always has great little tidbits and tales to tell! I will end this review with an anecdote, last December, I was in the salon, and left my cell phone. This was a Saturday afternoon, so I would have had to wait until Monday to drive to Hollywood and pick it up. But without me even calling her, Chevonne remembered that I had mentioned while she was cutting my hair that I was headed to the Loteria Grill for dinner, a good 15-20 minutes in traffic out of her way, and she took it upon herself to drive the phone to the restaurant, where I was having dinner with my family. I've been going to Goodform for years now, so it's high time I spread the word about how amazing it is. After seeing a string of mediocre stylists at really high prices, I finally found Cynthia Kendall (I actually followed her to Goodform from her previous salon -- she's that good!) I have long, thick hair and it seems like stylists are always dying to get me to chop it off. Not Cynthia. She gave me a cut that let me keep my hair long while giving me great layers that keep it from looking like a curtain. She also takes her time when blowing out my hair after a cut. I've gone to people who, once they start blowing my hair out and get a sense for how long it takes, give up and I end up with a half blowout. But Cynthia's blowouts are fantastic. Her cuts are $95, but they grow out so well that I often find myself trying to remember when my last haircut was and thinking how nice my cut looks even three months later. In short, Cynthia will give you an awesome cut. The salon itself is really great too. The vibe is very urban cool, but not in a way that makes me feel like I'm not cool enough to go there (you know those places...) The shampoo lady Aurora makes me feel like I'm getting a scalp massage at a spa -- amazing! The people who work at the front desk are really kind and helpful. Plus, Goodform just started doing the Brazilian Keratin Treatment. Can't wait to go back to Cynthia to try it! read more

This is one of those reviews I both want to write and don't want to write because I don't want my fave hair stylist in the world to be bombarded because well, she's *my* hair stylist...But she's so damn good, I can't be that selfish. LILIAN is THE BEST. Yes, I had to capitalize for her. Lilly has been my hairstylist for over a decade now. She knows color and cut more than anyone else I've ever met. I have coarse, curly hair and we've done all kinds of cuts that have WORKED! Curly girls - you know what I'm talking about. Before Lilly, I had too many unfortunate cuts. But Lilly understands your face, your hair, and what complements your look. She even talks with you about your lifestyle to see how you style your hair daily and what you have/don't have time to do daily. She'll let you know if your dream cut will work, and if not, what the closest version is. I go to GoodForm because of Lilly and what she does. I've seen both her male and female clients thrilled with their cuts and colors. It's so nice knowing that when I go in, she understands and delivers time and again. You trust Lilly. That's how great she is. And she's got a great sense of humor, on top of it all. I love this girl. Full-disclosure: I absolutely do not enjoy writing negative reviews. I bought a Lifebooker voucher last week under recommendation of my previous hair stylist, who only does hair once a month now. I was able to get in relatively quickly after calling which was surprising. I was stuck in a little bit of traffic, so I called to say I'd be about five minutes late - the receptionist informed me that it was OK because the stylist (Lorenzo) was running late as well. I have no problem waiting, I just don't like making someone else wait. I found it odd that no one called to let me know, though. Metered parking and an extra 40 minute wait aren't the best combination. I ran out several times, to make sure I wouldn't get a parking ticket. I showed my stylist (who was very pleasant, but not very engaging/talkative) pictures of how I previously had my hair done, and explained it had been a while but I wanted to go back to the same look. A perfectly blended natural base with beachy blonde ombre. I ended up with bright orange hair, which was evenutally toned down to a reddish(?) - except for the front, where I was left with two metallic brassy streaks that I didn't really notice until I got to about Robertson & Santa Monica. Not one to speak up, I was kicking myself that I now how to figure out how to part my hair so as not to look like 90's orange highlight girl. I spent last night in another stylist's chair, trying to make sense of what I was left with. And on another note, I did not get a haircut as I booked my appointment with a colorist only (who knew such high-end salons had individuals with limited skill-sets?) She came to Goodform a little while back and I absolutely love her new home. Everyone is so nice and very attentive; the decor is clean and stylish, with rotating artwork that's always cool to look at; and they have a great selection of product (don't worry, they never push any of it on you). She took off 10 inches (I was donating it to Locks of Love) and she really listened and gave me a cute short style with awesome bangs. I am a huge fan of Martine Le Blanc! In the last five years Martine has taken the best care of my hair. Her cuts last for several weeks and grow out nicely. In the last year I was fortunate to have her do the Brazilian Blowout. It's amazing! I have very curly hair and now it's smooth and so easy to style. She's a great stylist. She has a lot of knowledge and really cares about the end result. For mother's day I took my mom and grandmother for a cut and color and they loved their hair! I have short hair (like buzzed on the side short) and went in for a trim. Nothing fancy. It cost me $100 (before tip). My mistake for not asking the price up front! My usual hair stylist is in S.F. which is a bit far for me to visit on a regular basis. So in desperation I went on Lifebooker & found a great deal to try this salon. I go by Goodform salon all the time but never even realized it was there. You can't really tell it is a salon when you drive by it. It is a cool space with a mid century vibe inside. Rebecca was my stylist. i thought she did a good job cutting my hair. She was thorough, quick & precise. i had some concerns about my thinning hair & she had some great advice.
