This review is so long overdue! This place is right down the street from my mom's so it's perfect and convenient. I came in this past Saturday and they were pretty busy so I didn't mind waiting a little. Normally Andrew does my nails but he was busy so Fiona did my full set and I couldn't be happier! My friend and I were searching everywhere for somewhere to get our toes done and we drove from Pittsburg out here because they could take us with appointment at short notice. I called and made an appt for three pedicures at 11:00. Then didn't start until 11:40 on two of us. The third pedicure didn't even happen because still no one started by 12:30. I really hate to be one to rent. but I don't even understand how this new shop is in business. this place is so outdated and nasty-looking. they're very rude with their customer service if they don't know you or if they don't like you. they treat me okay but I want witness them be rude to a customer who had an appointment and they just turned her away for no reason and no apology since the facialist called in. I would've be so pissed if i were her. My wife and like to pamper ourseleve but this is not the place for that at all. I'm pretty disappointed. I found out that Fiona purposely charged me more and did not let me know. I just checked my bank account and saw that she charged me $70 instead of $60.00. My friend and I had an appointment at 1. They were running behind so they offered my friend a $10 dollar discount. That's great. I was happy to hear them offer my friend a discount since it was her first time there and it took them almost 2 hours for a gel mani and pedi. I'm their regular customer. My mom and sister have gone here with me on numerous occasion. As I was getting ready to pay, Andrew and Fiona was calculating how much I owed for a pedi and a full set. Fiona told me that she wouldn't charge me extra for the design since I was there for almost 3 hours. They told me it was going to be $70. I showed them my $10 dollar discount card and they told me that I owe $60 and I'll give tip in cash. It was my fault for not taking the receipt when Fiona asked me if I wanted a copy. 5 STARS! I think I've finally found the perfect nail salon. Nestled into a corner of a small shopping center right off of the Columbus Pkwy exit is this little gem. Because of my newfound obsession with Shellac, I'd started doing research to find a closer nail salon that offered it so I wasn't driving across the bridge every 2 weeks to get my fix. I'd been going to the Bollinger Nail Salon chain, but come on, with gas prices these days, I needed to find somewhere closer to home. Enter Good Nails. I'd already been blown away by the consistent 5 star reviews I'd been reading but when I read that one Yelper had gotten Shellac, I booked my appointment right away. I'm one of those weirdos who'll write off a nail salon pretty quickly based on my requirements: they must be clean (new instruments for *only* me), they can't hurt me, they can't make it look like they're talking about me in a language that I obviously can't understand, and it can't smell like nail polish. High-maintenance? Maybe. Guess what: Good Nails met all the requirements. On my first visit, the owner, Andrew, basically told me that the polish Bollinger had been putting on me was *not* Shellac because whatever was on my fingernails took a whole hour to soak off. He showed me the packaging for his and it was, indeed, Shellac by CND. On my return visit, the Shellac that he had applied came off quickly and easily after a 10-min soak. They do a meticulous job on cuticles and seem to really stress a beautiful mani or pedi. If it doesn't look right while they're painting your nails, they'll start right over. Like everybody else has said, they have the disposable plastic liners for the tubs, paper covering the spa chairs, and your own instruments with your name on the kit. I watched them yesterday wash their hands and wipe down chairs between customers. CLEAN CLEAN CLEAN! Green tea and snacks not just while you're waiting but also during your service. Yesterday, Fiona actually handfed me a mango gummy because both of my hands were occupied. Who does that??? Good Nails does. I would definitely make an appointment for a weekend, but so far, weekdays look okay for just a walk-in. And for my fellow Shellac freaks, $25 for a mani ($30 for a Shellac french). Writing this with mixed feelings only because they knew it was my first time visiting the salon so I'm guessing they put extra customer service during my visit. Very friendly staff. They didn't treat others the same way especially returning customers. I do like how they offer you a pillow on your lap so you can read magazines or rest your hands while they give you a manicure. I rec'vd the mani/pedi but with Shellac mani. The shellac actually turned out really nice and lasted 2 week. My only complaint is I dont like having to extend my arm all the way across my lap and magazines when getting a manicure. Actually another complaint, when I ask you to fix something that I dont like, I dont apprecaite the weird looks as if what I'm asking for is bad. Im the custmer remember!! My pedi was awesome! I loved all the massages and scrub, it was so relaxing. However, the paint job wasnt the greatest. I noticed the color wasnt consistent across the nail bed. I really like how clean they are. They offer you your very own tools to keep for your next visit. They put plastic bowls over the foot spa which is pretty cool! My advice, its up to you to try this place out, you may love it! If I can give 0 stars I will. Harsh but I can give a 1 star for their personalities. I have been at this nail salon twice. Counting my last visit I sat down, enjoyed myself in the chair ad everything was so far so good. Then when my cuticles were being cut and then switch to the next foot I realize that my left toe next to my big toe was bleeding. And when I mean bleeding I mean bleeding heavily. The thing that got me like wth, is that she didn't even wipe it and wanted the water to just soak it down. Then a couple for minutes later I saw that my biggest toe on my right side was bleeding and then she soaked it again. Ok. Everything was perfectly fine after that. But then I was charged more for something she didn't even insure me. Ok basically I'm writing a review about the after experience. And it's really really bad. The next day All of a sudden my toes started to hurt. I'm telling you it was unbearable that I wanted to call the doctors. I couldn't even put my shoes on it hurt so bad. Couple weeks later my feet started to put on my toes and it was just down right disgusting! I instantly knew this was from this nail salon and that water/tub they put me in. I am now getting a pedicure some where else in Benicia, and the nail tech told me that I have fungus in my right toe -__- your joking right. Thank you good nails for giving me fungus. read more

I wish I could give this place more than 5 stars. I stumbled upon this place when I really needed a pedicure. It is always open at the most convenient times. They gave an excellent variety of colors and brands of polishes. They carry Zoya brand (an extremely safe brand of polish with less harsh chemicals). I cannot compliment them enough on the hospitality and customer service that each employee has displayed towards me since I've been coming here (It's honestly the reason why I came back a second time). I started coming here for fills as well and Andrew always is my technician. He does probably the best job I've ever seen. He is always consistent with his work and they always go over the top. I love how they won't let you leave unless your pedicure or manicure looks up to par. The prices are great and the services they offer are beyond my standards. read more

Very unpleasant experience yesterday with my niece and mother. We decided upon this place because it has 4 out of 5 stars but this is definitely not a true testament to their service. First off, they could not understand what my mother was describing about her nails and the manicurist just kept going without hesitation. Needless to say her nails did not come out as she'd asked and they are all different lengths etc. Secondly, don't bother making an appointment. They take everyone no matter if you have an appointment or not so don't stress yourself over getting there, being on time etc. because they won't deny you service. Thirdly and most importantly, don't be surprised to pay extra when they are finished. After being quoted one price and paying I had to add more money because glitter costs $20 extra. All in all, not a horrible place but I do not wish to repeat this experience again and will not be returning. read more

If I could give this place 6 stars, I would. It's hard for me to really like a nail salon and feel comfortable there. This place blows every nail place I've been to out of the water. I was smart enough to make an appointment, and I requested Fiona because she's awesome! My co-worker and I went there last night for a treat, and I'm glad I got Fiona. She remembered me, and did an excellent job. All of us customers were enjoying the Michael Jackson music videos they were playing, and the one of the nail techs not only knew all the words to Billie Jean, but she knew the choreography! Came back here just after a week getting my Shellac done by Fiona because the polish on three of my fingers were peeling and getting caught on things. Luckily Andrew, the owner, was there to save the day. At first I thought he was just going to fix the three nails that were peeling, but he redid all of my nails at no charge!! He did such a GREAT job! I love the results!! He also helped me pick out a new color polish. I'm SOOO glad Andrew fixed my nails and I definitely will be back now. Bottom line is, if you're going to get Shellac or gel polish, just ask for Andrew. He is so detailed and careful, it's unbelievable!! There was no polish on my skin or cuticles at all and he is very careful about painting the ends of your nails to make sure it doesn't chip. Thank you Andrew. You're the best! :D read more

Took my daughter here and they they put us in separate rooms then asked my 12 ur old if she wanted designs on her nails. Of course she did however when you're going to charge ME $10 extra maybe you should ask ME if I want to pay it instead of upping the bill without my permission. On the bright side her nails were very pretty. Also my guy stopped working on me to help someone else and when I told him I needed to go (after being there for 45 mins) he asked if I was in a hurry....um no but I didn't think a gel manicure was going to take over an hour. After many years with this salon and yo yo service I think it's time to call it quits. I got a regular gel manicure by Fiona herself who is usually very attentive and thorough with her work. This time it was rushed and she came off as very rude and hostile I felt very uncomfortable the whole time. She even berated me for my choice of polish color and got gel on my cuticles. No scrub done, she didn't even bother to do the hot towel and wipe away the dust and dead skin after she was done filing. Nothing bad to say about my pedicure however, the nail tech who did it was very very friendly and she did a wonderful job. The shop itself is getting run down, their polish selection is poor and in a jumbled heap sloppily displayed in the corner, some even in cardboard boxes on the floor! My total was 60$ + tip which is a little pricey for literally basic service and I felt harassed to even give a tip to Fiona because in my opinion it wasn't warranted and the service she gave was terrible. I came to this nail salon this morning after reading the positive reviews on Yelp. For starters, as soon as I walked in, I was greeted by more than 1 person and that too, as if I was a regular, when in fact, that was my first time there. I explained what I wanted and they were very accommodating and understanding of everything I had said. Every customer is made comfortable with a cup of lemon green tea and a bowl of peanuts and pistachios. I've been going to another nail salon that is more expensive and prides themselves on being one of the high end salons but they do not provide this level of comfort. Some things that were not a huge deal but things that I could've done without: - being pushed into getting a $25 manicure versus getting just the $7 polish change that I wanted - having the peanuts fed to me like I was a small child (though I understand they were just trying to be helpful as my hands were drying) - the constant chatter among the staff right in front of me which left me wondering if it was about me In terms of price, they were decent if not better than the other place I've been going to. - Removal of artificial nails = $10 - Manicure with Axxium gel = $25 - Polish change on feet = $8 Other than this, I enjoyed my experience and would definitely come back! read more

*sigh* Like all good things, they come to an end. I, for the sake of saving a little mula, stopped getting my nails done for about a year. Yes, one year. I brought my Teen Wolf toes to Good Nails having the same expectations as my last wonderful experience from when they first opened. Oh boy. I even questioned if this was the same place. There was no more tea or mixed nuts, first off. Ok, I can live with that. BUT, the staff were so unprofessional and did a half-ass job on my pedicure. I understand completely that what they do is not the most enjoyable job but the man that worked on my feet was in a lost daze the entire time during the massage (that felt like little birds walking on my feet aka "What massage?") and was clearly not paying attention to what he was doing. I had to remind him to apply the top coat. As with most nail salons, the chicken chatter wouldn't stop and two of the employees were arguing in front of customers. If possible to leave 0.00 stars on this location I absoutely would. This is by far the worst Pedicure and Polish change I have ever had. I went on on Saturday night for a Pedicure and a matching polish change. The staff were friendly enough, but the whole process took over 2 hours to complete. And my niece waited over an hour just for her nails to be started. This caused me to be rushed toward the end of the appointment. The reason I am so upset with this service is because the work they did was so poor that my nails started chipping not even 24 hours later. Today is tuesday and I now have chipping on 4 other nails. I did my own top coat in an effort to save them from getting worse, but it has not worked. Additionally I asked many times for the paint to be coated evenly, but they took so long that I could not wait any longer to get it fixed. And to make it even worse, with my pedicure, polish change, and my niece's gel manicure they charged me $73 dollars for the total. They stated it was so expensive because they do more and a better job than most other places. The appt took so long I had no time to argue as I was already late for another engagement. I highly recommend to never get your nails done here as now I have to pay another $5 bridge toll to get this fixed which is costing me more money on an already overpriced experience. Stay away from this place as their quality and pricing are terrible. You can get better service, prices, and quality in Vallejo or on the other side of the bridge. read more

Horrible service would never go back! Made an appointment for 5:15pm for two people to have pedicure. Arrived on time only to have to wait 15 min to be seated. We were then escorted to chairs where we sat with our feet in the water for 30 min. My friend had her 6 yr old grandaughter with her and asked how much to paint her toes and nails, just paint them. She was told $20!!! She told them that she thought that was very high to just paint a little girls nails and the only comment from the owner was "that is the price you will like it". My friends pedicure started and I was still sitting. I have now been sitting for 45 minutes when the next availble nail tech starts to work on a woman that came in after us!
