This is a cute little coffee place, I'm giving it 3 stars because I couldn't finish the spiced matcha latte. It tasted like there was artificial sweetener and dirt in it. This is my fault, I should have gotten coffee from this COFFEE shop so I could have given it a better review ‍ The eats were okay, I've had better of both. I probably won't be heading back here because it was a bit to expensive for my taste..

Black Casket Cafe - Build Your Own Sandwich

Kicking off the new year, I found myself at Black Casket Cafe, a spot that definitely earns its…read morepopularity during spooky season--and honestly, the vibes hold up year‑round. We ordered a Dirty Chai, the Cold Queen from their seasonal menu, and split a Vegetarian Sandwich plus an Espresso Banana Bread. For two people sharing food and grabbing drinks, coming in under $40 felt like a total win. I love that their sandwiches are made fresh and fully customizable--your choice of bread, toppings, sauce, the whole deal. But the Espresso Banana Bread? Listen. Moist, rich, espresso‑kissed goodness. We tried to share politely... but both of us were definitely eyeing that last bite. The drinks were equally impressive--the Dirty Chai was creamy, spicy, and had just enough espresso kick to wake up my soul. Now, the decor is an experience all its own. They really stick to their gothic brand identity--right down to the menu. Think haunted country manor meets cool indie cafe. Dark walls, dramatic pieces, and yes... upstairs there's an actual table made from a coffin. It's a whole vibe. That said, I'm not sure eating a sandwich under an animal skull is quite for me. But the food and drinks were stellar enough that I'd absolutely come back--maybe just grab my goodies to go next time. The staff were incredibly friendly, and although the space is small (warehouse‑style with a couple tables and some bar seating), it has charm. Final verdict: Delicious drinks, great prices, unforgettable decor--worth the visit, even if you're taking your snack back to the land of the living.

The Black Casket is a great hangout place for anyone who admires Gothic aesthetics. I had the…read moreopportunity to have lunch there near the end of October. The establishment was so unique for how it is decorated with Halloween decorations and antiquated-looking gothic ornaments. There is also a lounge area upstairs where you can feel more comfortable while you socialize and eat. I had their 'build your own sandwich', which consisted of salami, Dijon mustard, tomatoes, cucumbers, lettuce and onions on a pretzel submarine bun. The sandwich was good; the salami was really good being given a generous portion of it, the vegetables were fresh and the bun, not so fresh, but was still good. Their coffee was pretty decent. The staff was very kind and welcoming. They even gave me a free cookie for my patronage when I asked for one of their baked goods. I recommend the Black Casket Cafe for anyone who loves stylish hangout businesses that serves specialized beverages.

When I went there, however, I was a little disappointed that it was not as extravagant as I was hoping. Their choices in baked goods were very scarce. When I arrived there I found out that they do not serve their breakfast/lunch menu, but instead the daily special advertisement from their indoor sign. I ordered the Mozzarella & Caramelized Onions Focaccia bread and their cappuccino. The focaccia was great with the caramelized onions adding succulence and flavour that stood out. The cappuccino was good, nothing special though. I also had their Almond Butter cake, which was good as well if not a little solid to eat. There was not much to talk about the interior ambiance of the café and there was not much space inside, unless you go to the back of the café. The staff was very courteous in serving me and has a good deal of knowledge about their business. My experience at the Duft & Co Bakehouse was pretty good, and I would like to give them another try. However, it will be a while because of their obscured business hours would be hard for me to come around.

I've been dying to try this bakery for awhile and each time I have failed and it's no one's fault but mine since they were either sold out or I came on a day they were closed. So this day I planned ahead. I got there ten minutes before opening which always makes me feel awkward but a line was already formed outside. Once they opened you go in and are greeted with a wide array of pastries and baked goods. I picked quite a few but will say that I'm biased as I went to pastry school and well this was the best croissant I've ever had. It was flaky on the outside and nice and buttery on the inside. You can tell that they worked hard on these and laminated them perfectly. The coffee was good too but the pastries stole the show and I will be back.

I really enjoyed my time there and got to socialize with some of the guests that came. I even had the opportunity to try the café's drinks and desserts. When I came as an Oscar party guest, I was given a Charcutier plate and a glass of wine when I gave them my ticket. They were a great appetizer. As for their menu choices I had the Salted Vanilla Bean Latte. The drink was fantastic and did not need any added sugar for taste. I also had their Cortado, and I found it strong yet flavourful. I had their Cookies'n'Cream cake, which I found very rich yet enjoyable throughout eating it. The interior of the cafe is very modern-looking with a lot of space. I like the mild lighting inside the business and the fact that they use garden lights and antiquated furniture adds some hospitable quality to it. The staff were very courteous when I was there, even when they were busy hosting the party. Overall, this is an excellent café to go to frequent at and would very much like to stop there again.

The baked items are good depending on your preferred flavours (I.e. my husband didn't like the ham and cheese croissant because it had mustard ‍, but loved the other breakfast sandwich) I would have loved to try some of their coffee/matcha milkshakes! (Yes you read that right.. MILKSHAKES). The baristas were super friendly, and they measure out their coffee for their drinks so you know it's going to taste the same each time. The inside is VERY spacious, with lots of seating. The patio was lovely, however the seats were not very comfy and there was no garbage/recycling out there. YES, I would recommend this place. Will I travel the 10-15 min from my parents house to get coffee again? Probably not... ‍
