They quoted me $100 for an 8x10 area rug but when the guy came he said I need deep cleaning which would cost $460. He said my stains are caused by pets and I told him we have never had any pets. The guy said, "well I smell pee." I refused the $460 and he tried to sell me $70 of stain removing services. I told him I want the service he quoted me on the phone - he did it but the carpet was not cleaned. I'm very disappointed with this business. I don't think they are honest. read more

I have been using GGCC for several years now. Far surpass the competition in my opinion. My rugs and upholstery always smell clean and fresh when they're done. When I had my newborn's area rug cleaned I noticed it wasn't really damp under the rocking recliner - and they explained that if it got too wet, it could rust out the stand it was on. My review might be a lot more complimentary if they had actually done the cleaning. I was scheduled for a 1:30pm Saturday cleaning, and a few things came up later that afternoon that I needed to take care of. In the interest of making sure that the cleaning would be done in time, I called Carol and asked if there was any chance they could come a bit earlier. She said that she would see how t hings went, and get back to me. At 2:00pm (AFTER our scheduled time!) she called back and said we would need to reschedule! Now, this wouldn't be the end of all things, except that it's been a week and I haven't received that call back. It seems that they've become more popular than they can support, and the service is suffering for it. I'll help them out by taking my business elsewhere. read more

Caroline from Good Guys Carpet Cleaning saved my day by persuading a crew to quickly show up at my house on a Saturday afternoon. My dog had a nasty accident on my new shag rug. I found out by stepping in it, smashing it down. I cleaned as best I could, but it was shag. It smelled and I couldn't get it out. I called a few places, most said I needed to wait until next week if they answered. Good Guys took pity on me and a crew showed up in 45 minutes. They also did two additional rugs at no extra cost. The shag rug is now clean, with no heavy fragrance, and it is as if it never happened. Willie and Pharoah were pleasant, worked really hard, and left without a trace of having been here. The only possible complaint you can have about this company is their name, because I spoke to a woman (not a guy) on the phone, and she was not good but GREAT. We were in a tough spot after another carpet cleaning company came out, blew our fuse and then left without cleaning anything. I talked to Carol at GGCC and she was obviously sympathetic to our situation. She called around to see if any of her crew would take a Sunday morning job, then called back and confirmed. Dorian was our cleaner and he was also not good but GREAT. Super courteous, a hard worker, fast and thorough. He explained his process to us in layman's terms, went about his business, and left us extremely satisfied. I will never use another company to clean my carpets again. read more

A year later, Good Guys came back and cleaned four floors of wall-to-wall carpeting and upholstered furnishing. The work was excellent. This time I added several very large, 40-year-old, custom-made wool rugs that each year I send to a top-notch antique rug shop for cleaning. I figured if the rugs didn't look clean after Good Guys I'd send them out as usual. No need because they look incredible! The rugs look as good as if I'd sent them out. The cost was less. Most importantly to me is that I didn't have to move furniture or touch them at all as I do when sending them out. Caroline's staff took care of the moving and schlepping and got those puppies so clean I'd lay down on them (I've floor-dirt/germ issues so this statement screams volumes.) These guys are really great! I would totally call them again next time. They showed up slightly on the tail end of the window they gave me. It seems like timing is a constant issue for them according to other reviews. But they made up for it as soon as they walked in the door. Three people showed up. They first do a measure of how big your apt is for a good pricing. One started with a good vacuum. Two people started setting up the apartment, their machines, put furniture on sliders to move them, treat spots, etc. They are a good team. Then I found out that they don't use a steam clean machine, they use a technology called circular dry foam. It got my carpet really really clean, cleaner than my last carpet cleaning guy. I looked it up online and it says that it actually removes a lot more dirt than traditional steam cleaning. And it doesn't use sticky cleaning solutions and leave your carpet wet. 2 hours later, I am sitting on my carpet floor watching tv without getting a wet butt. Oh, those guys also hand scrubbed parts of my dirty, high traffic area and went over it with the machine again. If you can love your carpet cleaning company, I absolutely love them! read more

Exceptional. This review is going to sound like they paid me for it, but it was worth every dime. I hired Good Guys to get rid of an assault of cat urine, stealthily hidden in my bedroom by my menacing feline. They gave me a reasonable window of between 3:30 and 5, and arrived shortly before 4. They rang with two "heads-up" calls to let me know that they were both on their way and close to my apartment. Since I left work a little early, I had time to go to the gym before they showed up. Huzzah! They cleaned my single bedroom, vacuuming and applying an enzyme treatment both above and below the carpet (I'd previously pulled back the edge). They even re-tacked the carpet! Strongly, strongly recommended. I feel fairly awful that I didn't have cash to tip Carl and Carlos. Do me a favor and add a little to your cash tip for me. Thanks, Good Guys. This review is long over do as I've been a customer since 2008. I first found them after having a horrible experience with another big name company (S Steamer). When I had my carpet cleaned by the big guys, my 14-pound Boston Terrier had a violent seizure within 10 minutes of them leaving. Now I can't prove it was caused by the harsh chemicals they used, but there's no way that's a coincidence! I had to rush my pup to the emergency room to be treated for an allergic reaction. Luckily he survived, but it took a full year before I got up the courage to have my carpet cleaned again. That's when I called Good Guys. They advertised that they used environmentally friendly and phosphate-free stain removers. I called and they assured me that all products were non-toxic. They cleaned my carpet and couches beautifully and my little dog had no adverse reactions to the products. We've been using the Good Guys at least twice a year ever since and we haven't had any issues. Not only do they use products that are safer for my family, but they also provide excellent service. They always arrive on time and call me when they're on their way. And -- this is important - they are honest! The pricing is upfront with no surprises. I would rate the carpet cleaning 5 stars. We had a company a couple months before clean the carpet and they got out stains the other company could not. The carpet looked great. Since we did not have enough carpet to cover the time included in the minimum charge, they offered to clean something else. There were a couple dark spots on our microfibre chaise so they tossed that in. We should have just stuck with the carpet. They cleaned the chaise section of the sectional, left the cushions propped up to allow it to dry. They said give it a couple hours to dry. It was still damp when we were going to bed 6hrs later. Next morning we woke up and the chaise was crusty, everything that was not still wet was crusty. Pillows, cushion, the frame, etc. Figured this was not right. We called the guy, who was very courteous at the time of the appointment. He told my wife "I don't know, my partner cleaned that. Maybe you all spilled some jelly on it." The crustiness has gone away in most spots after buffing the whole thing with my hand to fluff things up a bit. The couch appears to have been worn in spots from whatever drill powered tools they may have used on it. The other section of the couch still looks great and can see the difference between the untouched section and the cleaned section. After initial phone call, we have not heard back. read more

I had my carpet cleaned by them a couple of months ago and honestly I wasn't really impressed. Pros: They arrived early, and were very friendly. She used elbow grease to try to get the stains out of the carpet. The carpets did dry pretty fast. Cons: The state of the art machine that they used didn't get my stains out. I was quoted about 120 to clean two full rooms (furniture removed), when I told her that I just wanted her to focus on the high traffic areas (maybe 5 stains for both rooms) she only dropped the price 20 bucks (without moving the furniture). I wasn't too happy about that. I tried to go a different route because Stanley Steemer is so high, but I think I will go back to them. I've been using Good Guys for about seven years or so, and today was the last time maybe, since I'm selling my place and need it to look sharp. As always, Good Guys did a great job -- my carpets look and smell clean and fluffy even though its been a few years since the last cleaning. There was a time when Good Guys came here about every six months -- I had a sickly cat who really did a number on both carpets and furniture. The worst was my beautiful sofa, which he always peed on. Good Guys always cleaned it until my highly-sensitive nose said OK -- sometimes that means they would go over it three or four times! They never got annoyed or exasperated with me, they just kept at it until I said I didn't smell it anymore. That always impressed me. Once that cat left this mortal coil, I didn't need them as much, but they always remembered me and always did a great job. And now that its just normal carpett cleaning, its very fast and very affordable. Plus, they showed up exactly at the time they said they would -- how often does that happen anymore? I hired Good Guys to clean my carpets last summer based on the reviews I found here. My building uses another company, but they kind of creeped me out so I decided to pay for it myself and go with Good Guys. The day of the appointment no one showed, so I called and somehow they had lost my appointment but the owner had someone at my house within an hour and apologized profusely for the mixup. In fact, the estimate they gave me on the phone when I made the appointment was too low (I guess my apartment is bigger than I thought) but because of the appointment snafu they still gave it to me for the quoted price, which was very cool of them. The guy who cleaned my carpets was really great - it was a Friday afternoon, and I'm sure he was less than thrilled about getting a last minute appointment, but he didn't let it show. It was also hot that day, and with my a/c on and his machines on we kept blowing the fuse in my apartment so I ended up having to turn off my a/c so he could finish. I felt so terrible that he was working so hard in the heat, but again, he was totally awesome about it. Despite the missed appointment, they were completely professional from start to finish and I would hire them again in a heartbeat. They also got my carpets looking good again - hooray! read more

I have to say that I am disappointed to give them two stars. I had a previous experience with Good Guys that was a clear 5 star experience, if not 6. But my beloved golden retriever got sick last night on my carpet and it was pretty bad. I had no hesitation in calling Good Guys again. When I did, however, the lady I spoke with was rude, dismissive, and curt. I asked her if they could fit me and she said I should call someone else because if I used them, I would have to pay an emergency fee. I said that I would be more than willing to pay it if they could just come clean my carpet. She flatly said they couldn't help me. So I asked if she could refer me to someone else who could and she said "No." Ok then. I can't say how disappointed I was with this interaction. Honestly did not get one stain out of ANY of the carpets in the entire house. Overall dirt seems to have been merely spread out. It makes me seriously question all of the "outstanding" 4 and 5 star reviews. After reading all the reviews, I called to have them come out and clean all the carpets in my entire house. I was informed that the price would be $400.00 and that would include "pre-treatment" of all stains and high traffic areas, along with "deodorization". Well great I thought since to be honest there are several spots on my carpets that were in need of serious cleaning (the reason I wanted the carpets cleaned). I called early on the day of the cleaning to confirm the time. The woman asked me if I was "the one in xxxxxxx ?" I said yes. She replied "Do you still want them to come?" Ah yes. Then she gave me a time of between 12 and 2. The workers did call, informing me that they were on there way. As I stood in my garage I watched as 2 men pulled up in a unmarked private subcompact car. (I was expecting a truck or van with carpet cleaning equipment, similar to other company's). I will say that they were polite. (But polite does not clean my carpets!!) . They used an old beat-up vacuum. And some type of carpet cleaner that looked barely working. They had no type of uniforms. Did put on shoe covers (however I found it to be useless, since I watched them walk in and out of my house "with them on" to the car). After the job was over, I saw that not one spot was removed. It was as if they just evened out the dirt on the carpet. I could not smell any "deodorizer" or "cleaner" at all. (I'm sure if I were to ask, I would have been told it was because it is a "bio friendly" product.) I doubt anything was really used at all. When they left their vehicle almost didn't start and died 2 times backing out of the driveway. I got my Hoover steam vac out and was able to clean a section of carpet better!! I question ALL the reviews about this company. I CAN NOT RECOMMEND THEM. read more

I just now finished getting my off-white, wall to wall carpet cleaned. And it looks superb. I hate to admit it (and you can call me a slob), but I haven't had my carpet cleaned in FIVE YEARS! This mother-daughter team is GREAT! They do excellent work, they're on-time, thorough, they're fast, they come prepared to move the furniture, the prices are great and they use a process that doesn't require chemicals and doesn't make your carpets soaking wet. My carpet was dry in about an hour. I have one small concern: They didn't tell me until they arrived that they don't pay for parking. I live downtown, so that could have added more than $20 to my cost. (In fairness to them, they said they didn't pre-warn me because they had worked in my building in the past and guest parking was available.) However, there's no longer guest parking, but fortunately, at the last minute I was able to arrange for their parking. So if you don't have on street or nearby free parking, be sure to figure parking into your total cost. read more

good guys is the wrong name, great guys would work better. they came and cleaned our couch, baby glider (with two years of puke and formula stains), and an ottoman. they were in and out in an hour, and everything was perfect. everything smells good and looks like new. one side note, they did forget to clean a pillow on the baby glider, but that was simply an oversight (they moved it to clean the glider and it fell behind a book shelf, and i didn't notice because i was tending to a screaming baby and a barking dog). when i called them about it, they sent someone out the next day to finish the job. that's what i call good customer service. read more

They got most of the stains out (some were hopeless!), but the cleaner is incredibly fragrant-- I can't be in my apartment without my eyes itching and sneezing. The cleaners were both friendly. However, they alerted me 90 min before the scheduled arrival time that they would be an hour early. Early is just as bad as late! I had to cut a meeting short to rush home and get there in time. That was a huge inconvenience. They also didn't have any extra forms to provide an invoice, which I found strange. read more

I've never had carpet cleaning before so maybe my expectations are too high. Let me start with the fact that they were very professional and courteous, showed up on time and very reasonably priced. I had the main level carpet cleaned, stairs cleaned and two bed rooms vacuumed (getting new flooring in these). My 3 stars come from the fact that there remained an abundance of cat hair after the cleaning. The previous owners had cats. Makes me wonder if the other ""rave" reviews are authentic. While the worker was pleasant and nice, the work he did did not turn out as promised. As you can see there is little or no difference in the before and after. He told me "he would be doing extra" and "adding extra whitener" and "it would be almost as good as new." You be the judge. Good Guys came out (Dorian's crew) and cleaned the common area in my three story condo building. Not sure when we had the carpeting cleaned last (not in the five years I have been here) but it now looks brand new. We can finally end the "what's that smell?" game. I set up a lot of vendor appts on behalf of the condo and it can feel like a lot of work, but Good Guys was really great about getting back to me and answering my various questions. After the 2nd time I did have to agree to a credit card deposit...which was fair I suppose. My appointment was at 2:00 and they were there at 3:00 (they allow an hour +/-). My sofa--a sectional--is off white and had some stains on it and had not been cleaned for 5 or 6 years. For $200 (basically $100.00 per piece), the sofa was cleaned, deodorized and guarded. Not bad. I needed my carpets cleaned on the afternoon of December 30th, right after the movers took everything out of the place... There was no flexibility because I flew out of town the next night to move to California. This was a Sunday and a lot of the places I called weren't interested in coming out. Good guys are normally closed Sunday but the woman answering the phone said she would check if someone would come out and to give her a few hours to try and line someone up. 15 minutes later she confirmed she had someone. Yay! The guy was a bit late and I called to check that he was coming... Again, company is not open but I left a message and a few minutes later, got a call back to let me k ow our guy was on his way. When he got to our place, me hustled, worked up a sweat, even scrubbed an old old stain in my rental apartment that was from a previous tenant and got it out! (This was up in the loft of my place so he hand to carry his equipment up a ladder to get there! When there was a big nasty, dirty, sticky mess behind the fridge from a broken bottle of wine, I asked if he could clean that up... Thinking he could run the machine over it. I turned around 30 seconds later to fun him on his hands and knees scrubbing... The machine doesn't work on tile. OMG! I told him, embarrassed, that I wanted him to use a machine... No way would I ask someone to clean my mess on their hands and knees! But that's the ridiculously high level of service. I don't care if he was a bit late. Service was great, guy was friendly.
