Glenn and Tom made our couches look like new for an astoundingly reasonable price which was exactly what I was quoted beforehand. With two small kids, two cats, and a 100 pound dog, I wasn't too hopeful that the accumulated stains and pet hair on our beige sofa and loveseat would be remedied by a deep clean. Boy did they prove me wrong! Their technique left them looking brand new and smelling super fresh. They also cleaned a throw rug for us and Glenn was totally honest about one stain that he didn't think they'd be able to get out. He was right that it wasn't possible to completely remove it but they did a great job and I really appreciate the transparency. I scheduled a rug cleaning with Glen on two separate occasions and he did not show up on either occasion. When I called he was actually rude about it. The first time he called back later and said they made a scheduling error. I decided to try again. He didn't show up again and when i called said he would not have told me he would come and not show up. The first time he also had an attitude, sounding like it was my fault though he later admitted it wasn't. They may be good at cleaning rugs but they have to be able to show up at the appointed time as a first step! Frustrated! read more

Disappointing that they wouldn't even try to clean my couches. When I described them as "canvas-y" he said they don't clean that type of couch. He also suggested I dry clean it. Dry clean my sofa & love seat? They only cost me $700 seven years ago! I guess they have had experienes where the color comes out. Not sure how they clean things, but I've attempted steam cleaning and I've spot cleaned. Nothing has taken the color out. Honestly, nothing they could do could make the couch look worse. I appreciate the honesty, but I would have liked the warning to come with the option for me to proceed or not. So, I'm going to have Stanley Steemer come out. If I could give these guys 10 stars I could. We have been using them for years to clean our couch and carpets yearly and they always do an incredible job. We are currently newly renting and when we moved in the landlord insisted he had the carpets cleaned twice but there were still some stains. It is a wool carpet and it was driving me crazy. The service was perfect from the technicians arriving promptly and taking good care of my furniture to the final result, clean and fresh furniture. My mother recommended this company to me. Glenn and Tom are EXCELLENT and my wife and I recommend them highly without any reservation. These brothers are old school -- honest, competent at their craft and offer true customer service. Needing our home's 58 stairs and 350sf bedroom/closet cleaned, Glenn explained the cleaning method. Based on the results their using shampoo, scrubbing and water extraction made everything look almost like new. Their method was far better and definitely superior to just steam cleaning which, we learned, does not do well on wool carpets. Glenn took my phone call, asked the right questions to understand our needs and gave a quote over the phone. These guys do a great job cleaning, but beware if something goes wrong. Glenn and his brother cleaned my sectional sofa and 4 chairs last week. They were prompt and professional and it took just under an hour as it was just a general cleaning (no actual stains). About an hour after they left, I went into the kitchen and saw a strange film on my faucet, which has a flat surface pull out arm. I had purposely moved the faucet out of the way so they would have room for their bucket, but apparently, they wiped the faucet down with one of their cleaning cloths which has solvent on it. While I realize they were trying to be neat, it damaged the brushed nickel finish. I immediately left them a message and also called the faucet company as it has a life time warranty. i heard nothing from Glen for a full week, but was calling to tell him the manufacturer agreed (after some back and forth) to send a new faucet. Before I could even get the part about the replacement out, I get a slew of comments ("that couldn't have been anything we did, our products are green" "there must have been something wrong with the faucet, it wasn't us" "I wouldn't want a faucet you can't wipe down" and so on). Then, after I say it will be replaced, I get ("oh, great, well I'll make a note that we to be more careful, I'm so sorry that happened") Since they did not take any responsibility for the problem until after they knew it was fixed, I have no doubt i would have been SOL if the manufacturer hadn't been kind enough to replace it. So, 5 stars for cleaning and 0 for damage control related service. read more

A couple months back I had a sofa delivered from Restoration Hardware. The delivery guys got the sofa dirty when moving it in so Restoration Hardware offered me the option of a 10% As-Is discount or having the whole sofa re-special ordered. Not wanting to risk having the same thing happen twice and figuring 10% off was pretty good for what seemed like a small upholstery cleaning job I opted for the former and called A-Abace. I also had them come to clean the seat of an upholstered dining room chair I'd feared was a goner. (I'd gotten bum advice from Ethan Allen who had told me to clean it with soap and water. Turned out to be a big mistake since it was solvent cleaning only.) The chair had a pretty noticeable water mark. These guys were awesome! They were able to schedule me for an appointment about 1 week after I called. They were true professionals. They wore booties into my home and put down a lot of mats to make sure they didn't ruin my rugs or floors then they set to work. I loved that they asked a lot of questions to make sure they used the appropriate mode of cleaning for both the sofa and couch cushion. They ended up dry cleaning both and it was a great experience. The couch looks perfect and the dining room chair is much, much better. Some of the stains are still subtly there because they said they were burnt into the fabric but the worst part (the water stain) is blended in. I also loved that they were polite and easy to talk to. I asked them if they could go over the stain on the dining room chair one more time and they were more than agreeable. They also seemed exceptionally knowledgeable and explained as they were going along what mode of care made the most sense for my furniture not just for the fabric but for the overall construction as well. They took into account things like the construction underneath including the material of the tufted buttons. (It never occurred to me that you have to be careful cleaning with water so they buttons don't rust but now I know it, it makes perfect sense.) Best of all their initial quote was affordable and they ended up charging me even less than what they quoted by almost half. They also didn't charge me any extra fees for being in a 3rd floor walk up like other upholstery cleaning places had done in the past, which I appreciated. Overall, I couldn't recommend these guys more highly. They truly treated my furniture with care and were personal and professional. read more

After waiting 2 hours after my scheduled time, Glen and his brother arrived at my building and proceeded to get into an altercation with another resident. I won't go into all the gory details, but I will say that A-Abace elected to cancel my appointment due a conflict that I wasn't even involved in. I do not appreciate having my time wasted and I know that residents of my building do not like being threatened. I was very excited to work with them, but I will never use these guys again. To prepare for moving for the first time in 8 years, I've embarked upon the Great Purge of 2011. Included in the purge? Everything in my living room. A friend of mine is taking my sofa and chair off of my hands, and being the good friend that I am, I told her I'd get the couch cleaned for her. For the low low price of $100 and about half an hour, my sofa looks like it is brand spankin' new! These guys were amazing. They showed up a little early but called to make sure I was home, and as we all know I am a fan of punctuality. They put shoe covers on before they came in, laid down plastic, and went to work on my couch. When I saw them hand scrubbing I thought, "we're going to be here a while" and turned my attention to the internets. Suddenly they were done and my couch was put back together looking great. So they do amazing work AND they work fast - WIN. He pointed out right away they couldn't get one stain out, but I knew that was MY fault - when I initially spilled I tried using OxyClean to get it out - bad move! DO NOT USE OXY CLEAN ON FURNITURE! It will bleach the fabric and leave you looking like a fool. *hangs head in shame* The guys were nice, courteous, and fun to talk to. We talked the economy, pets, my upcoming condo purchase, and he even asked me a lot of questions to make sure I was ready for home ownership - which made me smile because it is SO something my dad would have done. We have an 8 year old microfiber couch that had never been cleaned, and we have two cats. We called A Abace based on reviews here. The first time I called I talked to Glenn, and he gave me a quote over the phone. We were just price checking at the time, and so we didn't book an appointment. The second time I called I talked to Glenn again. I didn't mention that I had called before, and Glenn quoted me the same price. I like that because I know he is not screwing around. Glenn showed up with another guy, and they got right to work on the couch. They pulled the couch out, and collected all the cat toys from under that sucker. They then washed down the entire exterior leather the couch, and started on the fabric. They put on little paper shoe coverings, laid down tarps, and used rubber gloves the entire time they were in my home. The cleaning was quick, and the price was exactly what was quoted over the phone. Glenn explained that all the products they use are green, and that they were safe for my animals, which was very important for me. When they were done the couch was clean as hell. All the stains from dropped food and liquid disappeared, and even the cat butt smell was gone. They were both really nice guys. We talked about cats, the Cubs, the summer, and I don't remember what else. We are going to get a new couch before we will need another cleaning, but the next time we need a couch, bed, or rug cleaned I will give them a call. read more

I had two couches that needed a good cleaning.....both had normal wear and tear plus some wine stains and other mystery spots.....so I called A-Abace. They gave me a quote over the phone (which was very reasonable) and an appointment for a couple of days later. True to their word they were right on time for the appointment....super nice and friendly......and got right down to business.....they were in and out in about an hour and a half! Later that evening I noticed that a couple of the spots were still there...so I called back and let Glenn know....I love that he didn't argue or question me.....just very nicely offered to come out the next day to take a look and see what else they needed to do. After two years of looking, we finally found an amazing sleeper sofa on Craigslist to replace our futon (just in time for 10 relatives coming in for Thanksgiving). But with all of the bedbug and germ-y horror stories out there in the last few years, we felt it would probably be smart to give some professional cleaning services a try...That way we could just be lounging in our own germs, instead of someone else's. Our inherited, cream-colored, overstuffed loveseat also needed a little love after 5 years and we figured why not give the mattress a once-over while we're at it, so we did a quick search for Chicago cleaning services on Google and saw some great reviews for A-Abace. I gave them a quick call on a Friday and was able to book a Sunday appointment with no problem. Glenn and Tom were really friendly, quick but also very thorough, getting into all the details of the couch cushions to scrub away those years of furniture neglect. When they were done with the couches, our CL purchase looked like it came right out of the factory and the old cream couch felt light and fluffy again (no more matted fabric in the wear-and-tear spaces). They also helped me put my new mattress cover on my freshly cleaned old mattress and left us with a treated spot towel to help make it through any holiday-party mishaps that may happen while my family is over. And these guys definitely know their stuff. We talked shop a little about what to do in some worst-case wine scenarios. We don't have pets (just yet) so I can't say for certain how soon we will need Glenn and Tom to stop by, but in the meantime, we will be highly recommending them to all of our friends. I have 3 cats. We made the mistake of putting a litter box under a table, on the corner of a nice rug. Lets just say the rug wasn't so nice anymore, and the cats made sure it stayed that way... =( I called A-Abace and they came out the next day, shampooed the entire thing, helped me turn it so that cat-corner would be under a couch, and I paid them in full. 2 days later, we could still smell it from under the couch (I don't blame them - 3 cats is a lot to fight!) I bought a microfiber couch off craigslist that was filled with grease stains, water marks, and what looked like dirt splashes from sitting outside until I picked it up. It was a wreck. After their 35-40 minute process, my couch looks and smells brand new. Not a single stain remained. It ended up being nearly as much as the couch, but very much worth it. They also provided a stain removing cloth to assist with any future stains. Also, these brothers are incredibly friendly and wonderful to work with.
