So here's what you need to know! This is a father-son venture that opened up in September of this year. We were fortunate enough to be helped by the son this evening and he gave us a run down of the "new to us" business. They have a drive thru that you can order at and pick up at their take out window. You can also use their website to order ahead and pick up at the window as well. They appear to have picnic tables to enjoy your meal in nicer weather, and they may or may not have indoor seating once this pandemic is over. They have specials most nights of the week that are geared toward families and a lot of them are Italian items. If you like Italian, they were a really good value. They have a Friday fish fry that we're eager to try. All food is cooked to order, so if you're less than patient, I'd recommend ordering about 15 minutes before you want to pick up. For us, if we're getting fresh, made to order food, we don't mind the wait one bit! We selected a variety of items, to sample as much of the menu as we could. The burgers were great! Juicy and nicely charred. We got the ribbon fries and regular fries - both were generous portions and cooked well. Our only suggestion would be to season both items out of the fryer, as we had to add some salt at home. We also tried their chicken fingers which are fresh battered and fried to order. The portion size wasn't as generous as everything else we got, but it will not stop us from ordering them again, they were really good. Overall, it was very good food at a very reasonable price. It's definitely nice to have a drive thru style restaurant in this area, especially during this lovely pandemic. The customer service was great too. We will definitely be back to try out more of their menu, as they also serve breakfast and made to order donuts! Unfortunately for us, they had already cleaned their donut machine for the night. With it being a new, locally owned and operated business, it's a great way to support the local economy.

We ordered the smoked mac n cheese with brisket, a brisket taco, and the brisket sandwich with chips. The brisket was tender and delicious, the smoked mac was perfectly cooked -- the cavatappi pasta was al dente and the sauce was creamy without being too thick. The brisket sandwich was super tasty and filling. They sure did not skimp on the brisket! Loved the chopped apples in the coleslaw. A different take on it that made it refreshing. The brisket taco was OK -- good, but not amazing. I think it would have been better had it been in a corn tortilla rather than flour, and have the shredded cheese that was on it, melt. A condiments area would also be nice -- put out some of your housemade BBQ sauce, hot sauce, etc for those that like things hot and/or saucy. Service was friendly and efficient. Atmosphere: casual. Place order at the counter and they bring your food to you. Ample free street parking.

Service and atmosphere were fine but overall the food we had was tough to recommend. We started with Taiwanese chicken bites as an appetizer. These (picture attached) were piping hot and the dipping sauce was ok but the bites themselves were pretty tough and chewy. They were 'crispy' but so chewy and tough that they weren't very enjoyable. The side salad was very nicely prepared and generously sized. It was pretty hard to eat because the small square plate it was served on was overflowing. The best thing we ordered was the vodka sauce pasta with shrimp. It was rich and flavorful. The other entree was a beet salad with chicken. The beets and chicken were fine. I didn't understand raw onion slivers on the salad and personally, I think onions and dried cranberries are both odd for a beet salad. What is classically on a beet salad and missing from this one was some form of cheese. Goat cheese would have been really appreciated. Overall I liked the feel of the Racalto's but mostly didn't enjoy the things we tried.

Nickels Pit provides three or four sauces you can put on. The tater tots were crisp and hot. The corn muffin was large and tasty, with a coarse crumb. The greens had some sort of cheese sprinkled on. I liked everything I ate. I ate as much as I could, and had the cold leftovers two days later for breakfast. It was still good. The service was great. I was the only person in the restaurant (Monday night in winter) and the server was very willing to help. He improvised a hot toddy for me, which they don't have on the menu, and it was very pleasant. Cost was $51, including tax and the toddy ($8), but leaving out tip.

I also ordered a side of white Alabama sauce, it was so delicious. Plenty of seating inside and a ton of varied seating outside with a lot of shade from sun. We almost left when we saw the long line out the door, so glad we stuck it out. We waited about 30 minutes just to order. Then the sign said "45 minutes to get your food after you order". Thankfully ours came in 20 minutes. Worth the wait if it took longer though. I would go back frequently if it wasn't a full hour from my house, but I'm already dreaming of going back. Leftovers heated up perfectly the next day. (Full disclosure, I ordered some pork hash rice and it was so gross. It reminded me of dog food. My husband ate it though, and liked it, so I can't judge.) I love you, Smokin' Pete's.

We came in with a group of 9 and asked to be seated. The hostess just looked at us with a blank stare, then finally said she was going to set up the tables. She came right back and said, "I have two tables next to each other, but I can't combine them." After some pushback, they agreed to push two tables together -- but made us do it. We then mentioned that we were here for a bachelorette and that's why we were sitting there, and the hostess was like, "Oh! You should have said something when you asked us to push the tables together." Like um, no. You should be welcoming no matter what. From there we ordered and multiple orders were wrong. They brought out quesadilla that were DOUSED with pepper on top. (Who does that?!) And they brought two "cheese" quesadillas out that actually had chicken. They also forgot to bring out onion rings that someone ordered and the server pretended she didn't forget them and that they were coming out right away. Like sure, if "right away" is in 20 minutes. It took 10 minutes to get pop refills. We waited over 15 minutes to receive napkins. They put the cutlery right on the table (without napkins or placemats under). They messed up almost every single receipt. I got charged for for the quesadilla they were supposed to take off AND a beer I didn't order. However, at that point we had been there over 2 hours. The table behind us also had an issue and sent back their food because it was disgusting. The woman asked to speak the manager, only to be told that the manager was the cook and therefore was unable to come out. Comical. Legitimately comical. Moral of the story: if you choose to come here, do it for the view -- and prepare to grow some grey hairs in the process.
