If I could give zero stars I would. I had a great walker Erica through GDW who was with my puppy and I from the beginning, after 7 months she resigned and I had no second thoughts about staying with Good Dog Walking. Unfortunately, the services I had grown to love during my time with Erica were hers and not Good Dogs; they made this clear. The service I am referring to... a standard text after my dog was walked to let me know she was taken out. Just a mid-day confirmation that my dog is doing well and has been outside. This is not a service this company is willing to offer. After my new walker lost his phone the first day on the job, the employers were unable to track him down and I was upset, this resulted in a BCC email that was sent out to their clients. The email scolded us for our concerns regarding our walkers disappearance and informed us our expectations were extraordinarily high in that we wished to receive daily text confirmations our dogs were walked. Something that had been provided for as long as I had been with them. We were then informed that starting immediately walkers would not send daily texts, but rather, their preferred policy is "journaling" - so I can come home 5 hours after the fact and find out how my dog's well being and digestive system was, 5 hours earlier. Great, is this the 21st century? Excuse me for thinking sending a simple text is probably a hell of a lot quicker and efficient than you sitting on your ass in my apartment writing in a journal. If high standards (aka standard, basic, average) are what you're looking for, this is not the place. I will let excerpts from their emails review themselves: Hi Everyone, I wanted to address an incident that occurred last week, in which Patrick's phone had been lost and he was unable to contact his clients via text. It has come to my attention that there is an expectation for our walkers to send a text directly after each walk to go over how the walk went. Although your previous walker, Erica, may have set a precedent for providing a walk description through text message, this is unfortunately NOT our company policy. Our company relies solely on a journaling system for communication between the walkers and clients regarding the walk particulars and Erica started this text regimen unbeknownst to us. Though many of you were understanding regarding Patrick's phone issues, a few clients were rather perturbed by not receiving a text. We feel the expectation of texting is unfortunately spiraling out of hand and has become a requirement from our staff, one that we just cannot accommodate on a daily basis. As a company policy, our walkers are required to leave a handwritten note in a designated doggy journal within your home. Good Dog is the best walking/sitting service we have used. Costa is prompt, professional, friendly and caring. Our Jack Russell gets so excited when they come to pick her up she jumps on him and gives him kisses before running out the door at his side. She doesn't even look back to say goodbye to us! We've used the service at least a dozen times already and will continue to do so every time we go away. We had a lousy dog sitter in the past and Good Dog has exceeded our expectations in every way. Good Dog has treated our pets with the greatest care and responsibility. Penny, a 10 year old Chi-Pom and Ody a pedigree Pom at the same age are part of our family. Since their inception, Good Dog has walked our babies, taken care of them when we were away and given us endless advice on their care and and health. In addition, Good Dog walkers have trained our dogs to not bark, to walk without going nuts at the site of a truck, and they have become generally much more manageable. Super friendly people as well. So, this company represents yet more fallout from the gig economy. The dog walkers are 'contract' workers which means there are no company policies, no rules, nothing is signed or discussed, no code of conduct, nothing. There are no protocols and everything is kept to a minimum for the dog walker to figure out as they go along. After a rushed 10 minute interview, the dog walker is given sets of keys and a schedule and that's it. Remember, the dog walkers are entering your home when you are not there, yet there is No vetting, No background check, No references and No experience. They could be anyone. They don't train anyone therefore exposing your pet to all kinds of dangers. This is a disaster waiting to happen. Do you want to know why they are so cheap? Caveat emptor. read more

Horrible, unprofessional, untrustworthy dog walker and manager!!! My dog walker, Alma, made so many mistakes, put my dog in unsafe situations, and never apologized!!! Whenever there was a situation, the manager, Miriah, was extremely condescending and turned it on you instead of owning up to their company and dog walker's mistakes! Do not trust this company to walk your dog. They will come at a later time then they say and all will go okay until something goes wrong and then they are mean, don't take ownership for it, and put it on you! There are so many great dog walking companies and dog walkers out there... go find another one... I did and am so much happier and so is my dog! read more

I've used this service for about a year now. I'll start with the scant negatives, first: dog-walkers change frequently with this company, BUT, let's be honest, that's a side job for most, and high-turnover is expected. Also, there was one young lady who temporarily walked my dog, who seemed kind of spacey. I wasn't comfortable with her walking my dog. Fortunately, the positives outweigh the negatives. The person who schedules and coordinates walks (Costa, currently) works very hard to accommodate. You are given frequent statuses via email or text, whenever a dog walker's schedule changes and your dog has a new walker. Also, and this is the biggest plus for me...the few times, I've stayed home and one of their walkers came in without knowing I was home, my dog was so happy to see them. This company obviously employs people who are caring and good with animals. They even manage to walk my dog with other dogs, something I can get nervous about. I highly recommend them, just stay involved with your dogs' care as you should, anyway. They are also very flexible when you need to make last minute changes to your dog's schedule. I would also cite their website as a negative, it's too slow to really make appointments. BUT it's great for paying online and they always will do the scheduling for you via email. We have been using GoodDog for a few years and have had nothing but good experiences. Our first walker was Sabrina and she was fantastic. Now that she has left, Xavier has been walking our girl and he has been extremely reliable and interacts great with our dog. The communication with the company has been top-notch, as well. WORST DOG WALKER AND COMPANY I HAVE EVER HAD! My dog walker, Alma, put my dog in his crate and left the harness on and when I confronted her, she said, "I don't know what to tell you" and was rude and not apologetic. Also, for the past few months, she has always taken my puppy out of his crate and put him back in. She was given those directions, as my puppy is not trained enough to be out of his crate. One day, my puppy knocked one of the crate doors down, and my dog walker, Alma, Then my puppy pushed one of the doors to his crate down and Alma couldn't figure out how to put it back into place (even though you just hook it). I didn't hear from her all day and she walks him at noon. Finally at 4, I texted her and she wrote back saying she left my dog unattended, out of the crate, because she couldn't figure out how to put the door back on. She didn't call me to ask if this was okay with me (which it wasn't because my puppy destroyed my apartment) and claimed her phone broke. Even if it did, I told her she could have asked my doorman for help or even for him to contact me. She could have told me the situation and I would have had her take the dog to doggie daycare because he can't be left out of his crate. Not only was she rude and told me, "Didn't know a grown dog couldn't be left in a room" which 1. it's a puppy 2. it's not for her to say 3. he has always been in a crate and she takes him out and puts him in a crate everyday but she didn't apologize, was rude, and didn't try to contact me or get help when she was in this situation. I spoke with the manager, Miriah, and she asked me what I was upset about and that they are not responsible for a crate that isn't together. I told her that I would never expect for anyone to be responsible for the crate or know how to fix it, but Alma should have found a way to communicate with me and not just leave my dog. Her words, "She did contact you... at 4!!!!" She comes at 12 and left my dog and contacts me at 4! That is after he has done all the damage! All in all, Good Dog Walking is BAD DOG WALKING.
