When you think of "The Local Bar" in the area. This spot is absolutely lovely, a cozy place with a lot of history, and a kind bartender and friendly locals. I hear it's been around for over 100 years!
I was there the other night and would like to clear up a misunderstanding I had with some locals. I felt they were showing some interest in the business (I had been marketing for, Earlier in the week, I had been recruiting and interviewing people for jobs) and a sober me would have simply asked, "Would you be interested in a position? Do you personally have any experience in customer service or personally provide any services (Sales, Marketing, Delivery, etc) for another company ?" Instead, binged me tried to make small talk and asked in a clumsy way, with poor choice of words, totally unaware of how it came across at the time. By the time I realized I offended them when they ignored me and walked away I tried to clear things up, but it was just the wrong time and place.
To make matters worse, while this person was playing pool with my cousin, I was trying to watch. I'm visually impaired (partially blind due to an eye disease) and struggle in low-light settings. My cousin played in tournaments I never got to see, so I often adapt by using my phone as a makeshift filter to help see in the dim light. A gentleman nearby asked, "Why are you taking pictures?" but I wasn't. I was just trying to see, the glare above the Pool table was bad enough to add to the frustration of trying to watch the shots being taken.
It's tough feeling misunderstood, and even harder to feel judged for it. To anyone I might have offended that night, I sincerely apologize for the misunderstandings. If you ever come across my apology, please let me know how I can make this right. I'm truly sorry for disrupting your evening; it was never my intention. read more
