Most other daycares don't offer the "day play" model- which focuses on individual attention and out-door time with staff. After my previous dog had a couple bad experiences in daycare situation with many dogs all in a large room, I am so grateful that day play is an option- it really eases my mind knowing that there is so much oversight. I wanted to hear from someone who knew my struggle, man. The struggle of owning a dog that everyone else thinks is a bad animal. The struggle of a dog who gets spooked by strangers, strange dogs, strange sounds, strange places. It's not her fault, it's how she's wired, and as Amanda explained, I could, over time, rewire her. That's what we've been doing over the last five lessons; No shock collars, no strict scolding, just a slow reintroduction to the world she'd learned to fear. Lots of teensy, tiny treats, plenty of praise, and an easing of the natural world around her. Five lessons and we're in a spot where I'm feeling ready to send Tillie to group classes, to socialize her and improve her confidence so that, someday, everyone else will know just how incredibly sweet and loving she is.
