I wanted to hear from someone who knew my struggle, man. The struggle of owning a dog that everyone else thinks is a bad animal. The struggle of a dog who gets spooked by strangers, strange dogs, strange sounds, strange places. It's not her fault, it's how she's wired, and as Amanda explained, I could, over time, rewire her. That's what we've been doing over the last five lessons; No shock collars, no strict scolding, just a slow reintroduction to the world she'd learned to fear. Lots of teensy, tiny treats, plenty of praise, and an easing of the natural world around her. Five lessons and we're in a spot where I'm feeling ready to send Tillie to group classes, to socialize her and improve her confidence so that, someday, everyone else will know just how incredibly sweet and loving she is. Timshell breeds Goldendoodles, Cavapoos, and, our favorite, Cava-Poo-Chons…read more The Cavapoochon (a tri-breed mix of King Charles Cavalier Spaniel, Poodle, Bichon) is the most intelligent, INTUITIVE, healthy, "perfect" dog blessed to man. The puppy is hypoallergenic. My child is asthmatic and has not reacted to the dog in 3 years. The dog does not shed hair or skin and he is not oily. When regularly bathed he has no odor -- adverse or pleasant. (Regular bathing means every 4-6 weeks when his hair is long and longer intervals when he has short hair.) His fur is very soft and pleasant to the touch. He looks like a puppy when born and never loses this "puppy" appearance. His face brings joy to those who do not like dogs. He is playful yet not needy. He loves to play fetch and has favorite toys. He has a toy "cat" that he sleeps with every night. He is very, very smart and constantly alert. He can figure out how to assist his master and will employ self-help to assist himself when necessary. He communicates effectively and differently depending on the person to whom he is attempting to relay a message. For example, with me, he stands and stares at me then the thing he needs -- the door to go outside or his food or his toy that is too high for him to reach. If I am not paying attention, he will gently place his paw on my leg to get my attention. For my child, he may "talk" and look at what he needs because getting my child's attention takes more effort. This behavior was learned intuitively and remarkably. He is a companion dog who wants to be close to you but does not want to be held or in your way. Ours was easily trained as an emotional support dog. He is the sweetest, kindest dog. He goes to work with me while my son is at school. He is protective yet friendly...the consummate "professional yet friendly" dog personality. He can tell when one of our family is not feeling well -- physically or otherwise. When one of us is ill, he will not leave our bedside. He is very loyal and a blessing in this way. I could tell you so many things about this wonderful dog. He trained easily and quickly because he wants his master to be pleased with him. I say he came trained because we were never able to train a dog before this one. This dog is trained on command with either hand or voice. Most training commands were learned the first time he was shown. Even the trainers were amazed. Ours is truly the "perfect" puppy. Since the time that the Rogers of Timshell Farms worked with geneticists and veterinarians and other professionals to create this breed, many unrelated others have capitalized on their idea and financially benefitted from their efforts. However, not just anyone could create such a special gene pool as the Rogers created when they put together this very special line of genetics which have such unique and desirable traits. Again, ours is truly the perfect puppy and we are grateful, grateful, grateful.

TL;DR: I would not trust Camp Bow Wow with the safety of my pets…read more My parents boarded their two small dogs at Camp Bow Wow for the very first time while we attended a family event out of state. When we picked them up that evening, one dog had a large, pus-filled wound on her face that staff described only as "a scratch." Although none of us are veterinarians, it was obvious the wound was more serious than that. The next morning, our family veterinarian confirmed it was a puncture wound that had become infected, drained the pus, and explained that it would have required stitches had it been treated sooner. Instead, the dog was prescribed a week of antibiotics. Two weeks later, the wound is healing but still not fully resolved. We contacted Camp Bow Wow to find out what had happened because no one had informed us of any incident before pickup. After investigating, management told us our dog had been injured as collateral damage during a scuffle between another dog and her companion a couple of hours before checkout. They also claimed they had called my parents to discuss the incident. That is not what happened. The only voicemail my parents received stated that both dogs were doing well and asked them to call about exit baths. They returned the call on the way from the airport, reached voicemail, and received no further attempts to contact them. When we asked why veterinary care wasn't sought--or, at a minimum, why my parents weren't notified so they could decide whether their dog should be seen--we were told the injury "did not appear to be severe enough for medical attention" and had only "occurred a couple of hours prior to checkout." This explanation was difficult to reconcile with our veterinarian's findings that the wound was already infected and that too much time had passed for stitches, despite the vet examining her less than 24 hours after the incident allegedly occurred. When we raised these concerns, management stood by their account and stated that pet owners are responsible for any veterinary expenses resulting from their dog's stay. When I asked the facility manager, Sally, about their policy for notifying owners when a dog is injured, specifically by another dog, I never received a clear answer--only a repetition of their version of events. As someone who owns my own two dogs and frequently uses boarding facilities, I understand that kennel staff are not veterinarians. I don't expect them to diagnose injuries. I do expect them to promptly notify pet owners whenever an animal is injured and allow the owner--not the kennel--to decide whether veterinary care is warranted. I also expect honesty and transparency as to when and how an incident occurred, which I do not believe we received in this instance. In my opinion, Camp Bow Wow failed to meet that basic standard of care. Based on this experience, I cannot recommend boarding your pets there.

We cannot say enough good things about Megan and the impact she's had on our dog, Padfoot. He's a…read morecoonhound--so if you know, you know: hyper, stubborn, and extremely vocal. When we first came to Megan, we were overwhelmed and frustrated. Padfoot pulled like a freight train on the leash and barked at absolutely everything. Walks were chaos, and quiet moments in the house were few and far between. Megan worked wonders with him. She gave us practical tools and taught us how to better understand and communicate with Padfoot. She never promised an overnight miracle (because that's not how dogs--or people--work), but what she did promise was that if we did the work, we'd see results. And she was absolutely right. Thanks to her guidance, Padfoot's leash manners have drastically improved, and we've seen a huge reduction in his barking. On top of that, he's boarded with Megan, and when he came home, he was the best behaved he's ever been. Calm, happy, focused--like he'd just come back from a doggy bootcamp/spa hybrid. One of the things we love most about Megan is how deeply she cares. She genuinely loves dogs and loves helping people build better relationships with their pets. It's obvious in the way she interacts with them, how patient and encouraging she is, and how invested she is in each dog's progress. She celebrates your wins with you, no matter how small, and makes you feel like you're not alone in the process. Now, I've seen some reviews on here claiming Megan doesn't know what she's doing. That's honestly nonsense. If someone expects their dog to magically behave without doing any of the follow-up work Megan recommends, then of course they won't see lasting results. It's not about outsourcing your dog's behavior--it's about learning to be a consistent, supportive leader for your pup, and Megan gives you the tools to do just that. Padfoot loves her, we love her, and we'd recommend her to anyone who wants to build a better relationship with their dog. Just be ready to do your part--because Megan will absolutely do hers.
