    Coco

I trailed my dog about 30 years ago here. 8 weeks ago I went back with my new dog Coco and let me tell you he is something else. Love the training. Trish teaches you not your dog as how to train your dog and if you follow the steps you will love to walk with your dog enjoy him/her not pulling you, sit when you tell them stay when they are told to do and most importantly keep them safe. Nothing good come without discipline, you have to have that for greater cause. Thank you Trish and team for what you all do for our animals. Your business wouldn't be around if people wouldn't see results.

The owner Trish, comes from a family of dog trainers, having inherited the business from her parents. The have an indoor training space for obedience and conformation and a large outside space for agility. Not being in agility I don't know about that part of their business. I went there because Trish has been affiliated in the past with our German Shepherd Dog Club and it is the "go to" place for our club members needed conformation training. Since I have a 9 month puppy who is destined for the show ring I have chosen to use the center although it is on the opposite side of the world from where I live in RR. The negative comments posted here are obviously from people who are there for obedience and not having been there for obedience, I can't say if they are on the mark or not. I have attended a lot of obedience classes in the past with other dogs in another state but have no way of knowing if these people are rookies and are not familiar with normal obedience training techniques or if they are knowledgeable and there poor ratings can be strongly considered. Many people who get into obedience freak out when their little darling gets spoken to with a loud, correcting voice or are given some stern corrections. There are instances when one stern correction is better than repetitive small, meaningless and ignored corrections. The one reviewer mentioned there dog was aggressive. From my experience they are already dealing with a too little, too late scenario and so more drastic measures would be needed. I suspect their dog wasn't properly socialized and corrected properly when it had exhibited poor doggy manners.

Lily had a really strong stay even in distracting environments after taking her to Acoma.

Great trainers. The class schedule is a bit limited. Mostly evenings. They also do agility training.

I made sure to set him up for success with all the training I could give him since he was already 2 years old approx. I want to bring awareness to give dogs time to adjust, my dog took about a full year to show his true personality and even then he has improved over the years. I adopted him 3 years ago and he has kept on growing in trusting people more and becoming more confident. Give dogs a chance only if you are willing to give them time, they are 10000% worth the investment of time and effort. Also, donate to your animal shelters when you can! I try to, every year on the day of his adoption :)

Their facility is bright, clean, open, and welcoming. Founded in 1965, Animal Humane is New Mexico's oldest animal welfare organization, and it shows in the care and dedication they provide. When I adopted her, the process was simple, efficient, and fairly priced. Lately, I've been thinking about how I can give back to my community, and the first place that came to mind was Animal Humane. I signed up to volunteer through their website, and they responded quickly--I was able to attend an orientation within two weeks. The orientation was incredibly informative, not just about the organization's mission, but also about the many ways volunteers can get involved. Since then, I've been volunteering in their on-site low-income pet food distribution center, and it's been amazing to see their mission in action. If you're looking to adopt a pet or find a meaningful way to give back, this is the place. Thank you, Animal Humane, for bringing so much joy into my life!

TL;DR: I would not trust Camp Bow Wow with the safety of my pets…read more My parents boarded their two small dogs at Camp Bow Wow for the very first time while we attended a family event out of state. When we picked them up that evening, one dog had a large, pus-filled wound on her face that staff described only as "a scratch." Although none of us are veterinarians, it was obvious the wound was more serious than that. The next morning, our family veterinarian confirmed it was a puncture wound that had become infected, drained the pus, and explained that it would have required stitches had it been treated sooner. Instead, the dog was prescribed a week of antibiotics. Two weeks later, the wound is healing but still not fully resolved. We contacted Camp Bow Wow to find out what had happened because no one had informed us of any incident before pickup. After investigating, management told us our dog had been injured as collateral damage during a scuffle between another dog and her companion a couple of hours before checkout. They also claimed they had called my parents to discuss the incident. That is not what happened. The only voicemail my parents received stated that both dogs were doing well and asked them to call about exit baths. They returned the call on the way from the airport, reached voicemail, and received no further attempts to contact them. When we asked why veterinary care wasn't sought--or, at a minimum, why my parents weren't notified so they could decide whether their dog should be seen--we were told the injury "did not appear to be severe enough for medical attention" and had only "occurred a couple of hours prior to checkout." This explanation was difficult to reconcile with our veterinarian's findings that the wound was already infected and that too much time had passed for stitches, despite the vet examining her less than 24 hours after the incident allegedly occurred. When we raised these concerns, management stood by their account and stated that pet owners are responsible for any veterinary expenses resulting from their dog's stay. When I asked the facility manager, Sally, about their policy for notifying owners when a dog is injured, specifically by another dog, I never received a clear answer--only a repetition of their version of events. As someone who owns my own two dogs and frequently uses boarding facilities, I understand that kennel staff are not veterinarians. I don't expect them to diagnose injuries. I do expect them to promptly notify pet owners whenever an animal is injured and allow the owner--not the kennel--to decide whether veterinary care is warranted. I also expect honesty and transparency as to when and how an incident occurred, which I do not believe we received in this instance. In my opinion, Camp Bow Wow failed to meet that basic standard of care. Based on this experience, I cannot recommend boarding your pets there.

My spoiled babies all LOVED their week long stays so they stayed a little less than a week on two separate occasions. I have one dog that is extremely anxious and during the first visit it took her a day to settle in but on the second stay it only took a few hours. Which is amazing. Their website answered all the questions I had so I called and booked some dates. I can confirm that in fact, they are everything I hoped for. Our little trio of babies loved staying and you'll see nothing but smiles and playful faces. They kept me updated on how the pets did while we were away which includes pictures; the pics really put me at ease because I could see how happy they were. The staff is amazing no matter who you speak with or text, they all are amazing people truly. They are animal lovers and it shows. They treat your pets as if they are their own. Kisses, treats if you allow it and I love the drop off form is great. They adhere to whatever the dog's schedule is and they will give prescription medication as well. I especially want to say that I was able to genuinely relax because I KNEW that my babies were being well cared for and loved. Upon picking up our pups, we got report cards and it helps to see how they did.
