My parents used this service while at a trip to Europe. While coming home from work I need to grab something from the house. Upon entering it reeked of urine. There was dog feces On the ground. No newspapers were picked up from the driveway about 6 papers I had bring in. There was fermenting urine in a corner of the house. Poop was left in the trash inside which I know my mother asked not to have happened. We also saw on multiple cameras the dogs not being let out for 12 hour stretches at a time. After reading some pretty good reviews, I contacted paws in action to inquire about dog walking services for an upcoming vacation in late July. I was very clear in my intake form that I have a reactive 8 lb Jack Russell terrier who needed a daily walk while I was on vacation. I spoke with Yaroz answered clarifying questions about my dog's behavioral issues. During this conversation Yaroz could have easily declined if the company was not comfortable with a reactive. I paid for and scheduled a meet and greet. Two Weeks later I got another message from Yaroz asking to schedule and pay for a meet and greet. I politely reminded her that this had already been done, but it was if she didn't recall speaking to me at all even though we had previous conversations on the same text thread she used. Not a great start but I understand people make mistakes. When the meet and greet came, two dog walkers showed up at my door. They were both very polite but one was very young and openly admitted. She had never walked a dog before. This made me incredibly nervous. I took the dog walkers to where my dog should be walked. 3 mi away from my house. Literally a 1-minute drive on Google maps. After the meeting agreed I returned home and went back to work (I work from home). I started receiving back-to-back calls from Yaroz. She called me four times in under 5 minutes. This is incredibly unprofessional. If someone doesn't answer the phone, there's a reason. When I called her back she was very upset talking quickly in an elevated tone. She told me that I never told her I had a reactive dog or that my dog needed to be walked in a special place that required driving. I tried to explain that the driving was required because there are no sidewalks in my neighborhood in the South valley and I do not want my dog walked in the summer over hot asphalt. Yaroz continue to talk over me. When I asked what the point of her call was, she went on to say that the meet and greet had taken too long and she would more money. At that point I told her that I was not comfortable with moving forward with her service. She continued to try and explain her point of view. I ended the call by saying I was no longer comfortable using the service. This company wasted 2 months of my time and $35. Complete lack of professionalism and customer service skills. The two dog walkers that showed up at my home were delightful even though one was inexperienced. Yaroz needs to learn how to organize her calendar and talk to customers. Please don't waste your time with this company. read more

We had a great pet sitter during our trip overseas. We were totally at ease and she was very thorough in taking care of our dogs. We would definitely use them again if we could get the same pet sitter. read more

Best pet sitter I've ever had. Set up communication with the pet sitter in a group text. Sent ETA updated on when she would arrive. Clearly loved taking care of my pets. I was gone a week and everything was the way I left it. Will absolutely use them again. Also sent photos of my pets daily. I really appreciate the excellent service and communication. read more

Couldn't disagree more with the negative reviews. We needed a 10 day house/pet sitting service over the holidays. Christina met us well in advance, we gave her a through orientation to our pets' needs and our expectations and both were beautifully met over the time we were away. Christina kept us up to date via regular text messages and photos regarding both our dogs. All of the things we asked her to do at the house--mail, watering plants, etc., were done professionally. I became a client of Paws in Action in 2021 after I saw a need for my girl to have occasional potty breaks as things were opening back up. I checked for a business license and everything looked good (https://portal.sos.state.nm.us/BFS/online/CorporationBusinessSearch). In August, 2021, I scheduled pet sitting for two weeks in June 2022. When I asked what the expectation is for my dog to be left alone, I was told "We don't leave unsupervised pets for more than 3-4hrs max, probably 5hrs but we try our best not to exceed." This was exactly what I needed. I began weekly walks in Feb 22. At this time, I thought she was still a licensed business in the state of New Mexico. It turns out, the license was revoked in Jan 22. In April, I received a text from the owner asking me to call Venmo and tell them I selected "Goods and Services" by accident. She said she couldn't afford the Venmo fees and would have to charge taxes if I didn't. I found that a little odd, but it was too close to the trip for me to try and acclimate my dog to someone new, so I went with it. May 4-7: I did a trial run with the pet setting. All went well. There was regular communication and updates with pictures were provided. My dog was happy when I got home and well cared for. I felt good about my June sitting. I received my June invoice, it was missing the dog sitting I had booked 10 months ago. I had to remind the owner about what I booked. After a little back and forth, I received the correct invoice and paid it. The invoice also had also included a $5 a visit price raise for her weekly walks. While I understand the reasons, an email warning the raise was coming would have been appreciated. I had no problem with the increase, but I was very disappointed in the communication around it. Before my trip, I confirmed that the only communication I'd have available is WhatsApp, iMessage, and email and that would be usable for everyone. It was confirmed by both the sitter and the owner. I sent over revised instructions so there'd be time for review and questions. On June 11, I left for my trip. I reminded the sitter and the owner I would no longer be available via text and it was WhatsApp, iMessage, and email only. Updates were a little sparse, but things seemed to be going well. The WhatsApp updates stopped, but I was still getting emails. When I inquired, I was told the sitter was having trouble with WhatsApp and assured everything was fine. Since I'd not had problems before, I said that was fine as my trip was almost over at that point. On June 23, I noticed that I was getting a ton of notifications for my side camera. I looked and every time it's my dog. She doesn't stay outside; especially in the summer. I checked my back door sensor and the back door had been open for a few hours. I checked my front cameras and the dog walker's car was nowhere in my cul de sac. Since I wasn't getting responses over WhatsApp from him, I iMessaged him asking if everything was ok. He admitted to me he had a busy day and had left the door open for the dog while he was out doing other jobs. I told him that was unacceptable and he needs to go back and lock up my home. I asked if he did it at any other time while I was gone and he said he didn't know. At this time, I contacted the owner and told her it was unacceptable. Looking at my security system, the door had been left open for several hours in several instances. We went back and forth for several hours over it. I told her I wanted to talk when I returned home about some type of remedy. She insisted it be discussed then, we had a very heated call, and she threatened to pull the dog sitter while I was halfway across the world. We came to what I thought was an agreement. Later that night and into the next day, she was contacting me trying to get me to agree that I wouldn't leave a review. I refused. She pulled the dog sitter before I was home and before our agreed time. I had to have a neighbor come let my dog out and feed her. When I finally got home, I walked into a terrible smell in the house. My dog had several accidents in the guest room in the time I was gone. I was not notified of any of the accidents and any liquid accident did not appear to have been cleaned. I shampooed the carpet 8x, had a professional come in to clean & deodorize, and put down nature's miracle twice. None of this worked and I had to replace the floor. The instructions asked the sitter to stay out of my room (and therefore, the attached bathroom). I found a towel, belt, and charger in the room. It did not appear my dog received her supplements while I was out of town either. As time has passed, I've had more neighbors telling me that things seemed off while I was out of town. I will not be using PIA again nor will I recommend them. This was a horrible end to what was otherwise a very lovely vacation. read more

Unfortunately, we found Yaroz Avila to be extremely unprofessional. Despite the negative reviews I read about her services on Yelp, we chose to ignore them because she made a good impression in our meeting. While she did provide good care for our house and animals, she failed to treat us with any regard, respect, or professionalism from the beginning. She had originally agreed to start caring for our animals an hour earlier. Then the day before she was to start she said did not agree to come early. Not only did she not stick to our agreement but she then had the nerve to ask us to pay extra to arrive an hour early. On top of already charging us an additional fee to take care of the house and animals on the evening of our arrival. It is her policy to hold on to your house keys between jobs, and when we requested our keys back, not only did she not have the courtesy to bring them to us, she didn't even have the courtesy or respect to be home when she said she would for us to pick them up. Requiring us to sit around waiting for her to get home to pick up our property. While she may provide good care for the animals, you should not expect to be treated well yourself. read more

Review from Albuquerque: The only other posted review is from California and misleading. We had Paws in Action take care of our four dogs and cat while out of town. It was our first experience of having someone in our home as well as not trusting our very reliable kennel. We have no complaints and are very relieved at how well everything went. The owner's main concern was our pets' wellbeing and it was very obvious that she loves animals. I have no reservations at all recommending her services. read more

We have used this service off and on for the last two years. The service has been lackluster at best with issues such as sending us the pictures of our boys from the prior day and telling us everything was ok. Our frustration was they were the only ones servicing the West side of Albuquerque so we were compelled to use them as a last resort. Our last and final experience was during the week of July 20th where we came home to find our boys with an empty water dish and our instructions for leaving lights on and curtains closed were not followed. The lights and curtains we can forgive but for our boys to be neglected and obviously not fed nor water provided for the entire day is unforgivable. The person who was assigned to take care of our boys had sent us a text that day saying the boys were fine. Obviously "not fine" and obviously no one had come to feed them on a day we had "PREPAID" for them to be taken care of. These boys are our children and I couldn't see anyone accepting this kind of treatment for their human kids. The owners are obviously more concerned with the financials of the business and not the care of our furry children as when we told her about the same picture being used as a wellness check for another day instead of caring we got an "oh the wrong picture must have been sent" yet no picture from that day was provided. I suggest anyone who uses this service to employ a nanny cam to ensure your children are being cared for properly. We will not use this business ever again! read more
