Went there to get drinks for my Team members. I was the only customer when I walk in. I said & greet the lady behind her laptop Hi. She basically ignore me for 2 to 3 minutes. I'm starting to not like this location because they never fill the drink to the top, like more then an inch empty then they act inconvenienced I ask politely to please top it off. They're a bit pricier than other places. I spend about $6 for a drink here. I love the white pearl. It still holds its texture and crunch the next day or on a long trip. The ordering process it's similar to other places. Get to pick the level of sugar. How much ice you want. What type of toppings you want. They have a foam cap that taste salty. So it's like a sweet/salty drink dessert. Pretty good but I'm OK without it. I do like their Boba a lot. It Has been pretty consistent, chewy and slightly sweet. My fav thing here is that they have earl grey tea as a choice for milk tea. I get the earl grey with 3 jellies. The other jellies are ok. I enjoy regular boba and white pearl though. There's been a crazy influx of chain bubble tea/boba places in the DFW area over the last few months what with Kung Fu Tea taking over and now there's Gong Cha and Sharetea. To be frank, Gong Cha is terrible. With so many other great bubble tea/boba options within a 5 mile radius, I am not sure how long Gong Cha is going to be around. The only thing that really sets them apart from the other places are the "white pearls" which are SO not worth the 75 cents! You can see for yourself that all the recent 5-star reviews for Gong Cha (sort reviews by "newest first") are written by users who don't normally write reviews and are friends with the owners who are so desperately trying to get their yelp score up. My lychee oolong tea with white pearls was a whopping $5.25. The tea tasted funky - like lychee flavored sewage. The white pearls are so not the business - not a fan of the texture. Not only are the drinks here are no bueno - the prices are ridiculously high. Expensive yet subpar bubble tea? Also $5.25 for a slush (without any boba or jelly added) are you kidding me? My drink would have been well over $6 (after tax) if I ordered a slush with boba. Yeah...I ain't ever coming back. read more

I was super excited to hear that Gong Cha was opening a location in the DFW area, so of course I had to come try it during grand opening weekend. It helped that there was a BOGO deal going on; buy one milk foam tea and get a pearl milk tea free. I'd been wanting to try something that wasn't my usual (lemon wintermelon with basil seeds), and wanted to see how the wintermelon tea at Gong Cha compared to other wintermelon teas in the metroplex, so I ended up getting that with the milk foam so I could take advantage of the BOGO offer :) The line was out the door and winding down the sidewalk when we got there, but we persevered for the tea! It took us about 40 minutes to get through the line, but once we ordered our drinks came out pretty fast. It's hard to go wrong with wintermelon tea, and Gong Cha's lived up to my expectations. The milk foam cap was also a very interesting experience; I don't know that I'd necessarily pay for it again, but I enjoyed the creamy flavor a lot. Next time I come back (and I'll definitely come back now that I know I don't have to fly all the way to New York City to get my Gong Cha fix) I'll probably still go with my usual drink. The music was super loud when we finally got through the door in line, and the place isn't terribly large; the tables and chairs set up looked nice though. I think once the fervor of the grand opening dies down and the lines become more manageable it would be a nice place to come hang out and get some boba together. Super excited for Gong Cha to be coming to Richardson! There seems to be a lack of international/national bubble tea chains in the Dallas area but that's quickly changing. The drinks here are decent - they have a nice strong tea flavor, and as usual a range of customization options for ice and sugar levels. One thing that I was looking forward to having was the aiyu jelly. I haven't found a bubble tea place in Dallas that offers jellies besides grass jelly and fruit-flavored jellies. On opening weekend the lines were certainly long, but on the day that I went it still moved pretty quickly. Fast forward a week or so and the lines are still to the door but they're much quicker and more efficient. So far I've tried the lemon wintermelon with basil seeds and the lemon aiyu drinks. Both are pretty good, but nothing amazing. Definitely refreshing and perfect for a hot day. I'd never had the white pearls before, but imo the black pearls are better, probably because I'm more used to them. The prices are average for bubble tea, but be warned - they have a $6 credit card minimum. Otherwise, a decent place to stop by and grab some drinks. read more

This is the best boba tea I've had to date in DFW! There are so many different coffees and teas that are done so well. My friends and I tried the Oolong Milk Tea, Earl Grey Latte Milk Tea (my favorite), Thai Milk Tea, and Coffee Milk Tea. You can adjust the amount of sweetness and ice which allows everyone to have a custom drink. If you don't like really sweet drinks, I recommend 50% for the milk teas. Can't speak for the regular teas since I didn't try them, but the staff will be able to give you the perfect recommendation. In addition, you can add toppings such as tapioca pearls, pudding, and jellies. The shop has a decent amount of seating but definitely can get crowded. There are cute quotes on the wall and a Gong Cha wall perfect for your Instagram (or Yelp) pictures. Prices are typical for milk tea at about $3-5, depending on the size and amount of toppings you want. This is a great place to introduce people to boba milk tea! read more

I only like this place because their strawberry milk tea is bomb. I used to always get the sweeter drink options like the Oreo milk tea or brown sugar milk tea. I love Gongcha! This bubble tea shop can be a big of a drive but it's always worth to stop by and grab a drink. They have a wonderful selection of both Sweet Milk teas and Fruit punch Teas. A variety of toppings so it's always fun to explore and create a new drink. There's been a lot of buzz about Gong Cha so I decided to make the long trek all the way over to this side of Richardson to give it a try. While certainly over-hyped, the drinks are actually pretty solid! We ordered two drinks, both with light ice and 50% sweetness (my default for any boba place) - Lemon Wintermelon w/Basil Seeds: LOVED this! Super refreshing without being too sweet. I enjoyed having the basil seeds to chew on and the little lemon bits floating around added a nice bit of sourness to the drink. I would definitely get this again in the future. - Early Gray Milk Tea w/3 J's (pearl, pudding, herbal jelly): this honestly looked better than it tasted. While the milk tea was good, it just tasted like regular old milk tea - not really any Earl Gray flavor. The pudding and jelly were good, but boba was very average. There wasn't much of a line when we swung by on a Saturday afternoon but the shop itself was packed. Luckily we got our drinks rather quickly because there's not really anywhere to stand and wait for your drinks, except awkwardly in the middle of the store. Oh, and the acoustics in there are terrible - it was SO LOUD. Definitely a "to go" place for me. I'm looking forward to Gong Cha opening more locations because it's great having another good boba option in the DFW suburbs. Been here twice since their grand opening. I've never even heard of Gong Cha until my friends shared their experience in their other locations overseas. I've only tried 5 of their drinks and my favorite is the lemon wintermelon with basil seeds and herbal jelly. It's a light refreshing drink that will definitely quench your thirst. I wasn't big on the foam drink but that's just me. I did try the milk foam green tea. That wasn't bad either. It had a great green tea flavor which I really like. I wasn't a big fan of the Pearl milk tea or the Earl Grey milk tea with 3js. Nothing spectacular for me. The Matcha milk tea with red beans was my least favorite. It tasted very powdery, at least for my order. I wasn't able to finish that drink because it was that unpleasant. Maybe it will be better for others so I would say check it out on your own dime. I really do hope they have a better process behind the counter. I came back on a slow day and it took them over 20 minutes to complete my order. It was to the point where I thought they had forgotten it until I realized there was one main guy in the back multitasking many things and one lady in the middle completing the orders. I may not understand their process but from the front, you can definitely see the lack of staff/process flow since everyone was unhappy with the wait. Hope they improve soon! So I learned that Gong Cha originated from Taiwan, and the picture on their logo...boom. Was Taiwan, lol. How about that? There are so many boba places popping up in Dallas and so much competition, and honestly Gong Cha is somewhere probably in the middle. Their winter melon tea (recommended by a friend) was pretty good at 50% sweet and little ice. I really have no complaints about this place except for the tiny tiny area to sit in...it reminds me of the old Boba Latte- you're not going to have a chance to hang out with your friends because some huge group is already sitting there. It won't be quiet, because they'll have a TV with Taiwanese people dancing to Bruno Mars. The line gets pretty long at certain hours, but the drinks do come out fairly quickly. My first time at Gong Cha was in NYC where I got a jasmine tea with foam and no sugar. Not the best choice but I'm glad my choices this time made up for my first time. I ordered the passion fruit green tea which comes with boba and coconut jelly and a passion fruit yogurt slush with 50% sugar. Both drinks were good!
