I ordered a Brown Sugar Milk Tea with tapioca pearls. Yes, I'm still a sucker for paying $6-$9 for a bubble tea LOL. The service is a bit slow... I got my drink, popped my straw in, and took a few sips. Now there must be a major decline in the quality and taste... because as of lately, I've been having really mediocre drinks from these big name boba franchises. The tea tastes so artificial and sugary... doesn't taste anything like freshly brewed black tea. They always taste diluted and weak. Gong Cha is a chain boba shop where the teas are generally good. I like the Early Grey milk tea with jellies and 50% sugar. The fruit-flavored drinks are artificially flavored. I tried a yogurt drink with peach flavor and tasted more peach syrup than yogurt (1 star off). This location is not well staffed. When I went on a weekday, only one employee was working. He was nice, but was responsible for taking orders and making the drinks. It took about 15-20 minutes to order and get my drink (1 star off). They also use Five Star, so we get rewards and points every time we buy drinks from here. Its $5 discount after spending $50. I usually get their milk tea with bubbles. Solid Gongcha! The lady behind the counter was super friendly and talkative, it was sweet. I got a strawberry matcha bubble tea which was way too sweet and weird with the sweetness of the strawberry + bitterness from the matcha. I really wish this location had one comprehensive menu. I've never heard of such justification. I waited for the last customers behind me to pass and asked her to recalculate my total on a POS without ringing me up. She realizes her mistake and passes my change without an apology. Unacceptable. I don't care about my 50 cents, it's the fact you treated me like a fool instead of apologizing and owning up to your mistake (which happens). She checked the label and walked away with it, telling me to give her a moment. No apology for her mistake. She told the cashier who took my order properly that she misread it as dirty brown sugar before going ahead and remaking it. When she finished remaking it, still no apology. Then I realized once I left that the other milk tea she made that I requested with light ice had regular ice in it, if not too much. I like the franchise, but a business needs to go beyond making a good product and help improve lives. It's one of our great purposes in life. This business fails miserably in this regard. I have heard the owner say horrible things to her staff. I can only image what she says to them away from customers. She threatens to fire them if they make mistakes. She hovers over trainees, putting pressure on them. People can't learn that way. The turnover is astounding. I rarely see the same worker each time I come. This says volumes about how they are treated. Most of these workers are kids and they'll take the abuse and bullying of their boss. The owner is absolutely horrifying, and this place needs to be reported. I've seen bosses like this before and I would bet she also robs them of proper wages or doesn't pay them for staying later to clean up. This will all catch up to the owner one day in the form of a law suit and I hope she learns a lesson. Support your local business, but don't support poor and abusive management. Very poor service.. The employee or owner was literally mad that I asked for a syrup adjustment after tasting my drink, even when I asked if it was ok before buying. I've been here twice, and I got the grapefruit yogurt with white pearls. It's a really refreshing and fruity drink that isn't overbearingly sweet.
