This was my first stop when we landed in Edmonton! Attached to a vietnamese bistros so it can be easily missed. what to order? everything, my favorite? Brown sugar milk tea with milk foam. DELICIOUS! I will be coming back here tonight :)

Craving some bubble tea, so I thought I would try out the new franchise BBT place closest to my work. It's located just across the street from the new arena, sharing its space with a Vietnamese restaurant on the ground floor of the Ultima. It's a pretty small space, so if you're looking to come and hang out with a few friends, you might want to go elsewhere. The menu features various teas, milks, juices, and even a couple coffee based drinks. You also have your choice of selecting degree of sweetness, amount of ice and toppings. If you opt for a larger size, it's an additional 50 cents. I ordered the Earl Grey milk tea with 3J. The menu does not tell you what "3J" means at all. It's basically milk tea with pearls, grass jelly, and pudding. (similar to a drink at Coco Fresh nearby) I ordered mine half sweet, which I felt was just right. Taste-wise, it was nothing out of the ordinary, and I found the pearls a little on the bland side. My coworkers ordered the taro with red bean and the matcha with red bean. They both stated that they enjoyed their drinks. One coworker ordered hers "regular", meaning full sweet and regular ice. She didn't say anything about it being too sweet, but did comment on how she had too much ice. I was not very impressed service wise. We stood in front of the cash register for a few minutes before we were acknowledged in any way by the 2 staff working just a few feet away. No idea if they offer any sort of loyalty card, as the staff didn't make any mention of it, nor did I see any stamp cards kicking around. I like the menu options, so I think I'll come and give it another try. If the pearls continue to disappoint me, I'll go to one of the other new BBT places opening up downtown.

Service was super slow. The cashier kept taking orders but did not have anyone else making the drinks. We waited for over 15 min for our drinks. Note that when we ordered there was no one ahead of us. I watched the cashier keep taking orders and neglecting to make the drinks. There was another lady who came out the back a few times but did not help in making the drinks. At one point a large crowd came in and the cashier kept taking orders. We finally got our drinks and they were extremely watered down. My husbands matcha red bean was disgusting. There was also hardly any red bean at all. Not coming back. Not worth it . Better to go to cocos !

Another great Bubble Tea place! Located just in the midst of downtown. Going up the stairs the cosy bright cafe is welcoming. Immediately you are greeted by a friendly bubble tea host. The menu is big and visible. I always go with the earl great 3J, no sugar and no ice. In less than 5 mins the bubble tea is ready and delicious! Parking is a hit or miss since it is downtown. I highly recommend checking this place out!

I always come here for a refreshing drink! It is pretty much my go to place for a thirst quencher. Probably up there on terms of BBT tea places to visit. This location is super convenient since it is located centrally downtown. If you work downtown it is quite convenient to get to. The drinks are delicious, pretty healthy if you get ones with less sugar... you can get half sugar etc. There are also options for just honey. I love that you can even adjust the drink to have desired chewy lychee pieces, coconut or taro. I have a rewards point card that gives me free drinks if I go often enough. I would highly recommend visiting gong cha if you're looking for a healthy treat that also quenches your thirst! Drinks here are perfect for during the summer time. However, I get it all year round!! There are also pretty delicious little snacks that you can get paired with your drinks. There are also tasty summer desserts like ice cream!!

How to order.... notice the extra charge for no ice?

Seriously, charging $0.50 more for no ice? This was a primary reason for giving 3 stars instead of 4. Ordered the coffee milk tea with pearl and yes, it tasted good but still, charging $0.50 more for no ice? It is in a cool location as it is upstairs above a pub. Not a big place for hanging out but a decent size. Friendly service and clean location

Dont the real gong cha that you had in Toronto or Calgary, its merely a poor run franchise with water downed teas. Never going back again.

The coffee shop's location is on the second floor of the building (right next door to the restaurant Sugarbowl), and offers an awesome view of the North Saskatchewan river, downtown / Jasper Ave on one side, and the Garneau neighborhood on the other side. The place is filled with antique furniture, wooden floors, but also a touch of modern style as well. With the decor, the smell of coffee, along with the presence of coffee drinkers and enthusiasts, Kaffa is very inviting and a great place to drink coffee, eat and be with someone (or by oneself). Kaffa has its own coffee roasting machine on location - so I hope you can imagine the smell of coffee is very much present here at Kaffa!!! It's very nice. Kaffa, both a derivative and coffee region in Ethiopia, also sells their roasted coffee, and tea as well. Ethiopia, as well as a few Central American countries, provide beans for the roastery. Kaffa also offers art space for local artists, but music concerts as well. Anyone with questions or inquiries can contact Kaffa (their email address is on their website, kaffaroasterystudio.com).

The chicken kebab platter was a bit plain as the rice had very little flavor. Red tea was nice and hot and the service was good. We also had the deep-fried eggplant and a phyllo pastry filled with spinach and feta (similar to spanakopita) as appetizers. Both were delicious. I would recommend this place but the rice that had the seasoning was much more flavourful than the plain rice so I would keep that in mind.

It came with Koobideh (Two skewers of Juicy ground beef kabab) , Chicken kabab Joojeh (Sineh) and grilled tomatoes. Served with 4 servings of saffron rice. It is made for 3-4 but we enjoy leftovers. Food was amazing! The rice was so fluffy! Appreciated all the raw sliced onions and the grilled tomatoes (however I could have used less char on them). They gave us two dips to try with pita bread - Zeytoon Parvardeh Brined olives mixed with crushed walnuts and rich pomegranate molasses, and Mast - o - Moosir - Creamy yogurt blended with shallots and garnished with dried mint. Both were so amazing and full of flavour. Our platter also came with pickled...I want to say cabbage which was so delicious with the meat. The meat itself was well cooked and full of favour. I preferred the beef to the chicken but both were delicious. I really wanted to try the saffron ice cream, which was a great end of the meal paired with some tea. The ice cream itself wasn't so sweet which I really appreciated. Our server was lovely and friendly and super helpful. It looses a star because it was cold - both in esthetics and in temperature. I would love to see some more Persian décor to make dining more of a trip. We will be back again because there are many things on the menu that I would like to try.
