    Large Jolly Time

I've heard a lot of good things about this place, so when my coworker asked if I wanted to head over for a BBT at lunch, you know I was all over that. I was totally overwhelmed by the menu; the drink selection is awesome, with add ons such as white pearls, matcha pudding, and basil seeds that you don't normally see in a lot of places. I got jolly time - matcha with red bean (great combo, btw) and white pearls (they were out of white pearls that day, so they subbed with regular pearls) and I added pudding. Maybe my drink was too sweet, but my pearls and pudding were bland as hell. I could taste some faint sweetness in the pudding, but the pearls flat out sucked. My coworker ordered the passionfruit kick which she thoroughly enjoyed, and my other coworker had the Okinawa brown sugar milk tea and also had no complaints. Since he added pearls to his drink as well (extra 50 cent surcharge), I questioned him on whether his pearls had any taste. His response? "Maybe it was because my drink was pretty sweet, but they tasted fine. " You can customize your drink for sweetness and how it's served (less ice, warm, hot, etc.) I hear the wait times can get kinda ugly here, but we had no wait whatsoever. It's a small little kiosk, so I can definitely see wait time being an issue if it gets busy. I typically write off bubble tea joints that can't get their pearls right, but based on their awesome menu, I'm willing to give it one more try. As an added incentive, hospital staff get 10% off too.

I have an obsession with bubble tea, and I am always on the hunt to find the best one in #YEG. How I like to judge them is based on: 1. The flavor of the drink. 2. The pearls/ tapioca 3. Price 4. Service All of this will determine whether I think it's worth going back. With this bubble tea shop located inside of Kingsway Mall, it is hard for me to not come here every day because I go to school across from the mall. As of writing this review, I have tried 3 different flavors: -Earl Grey Trio -Matcha Latte with a shot of espresso -Brown Sugar The flavors of the drinks that I have gotten were all really good! I genuinely enjoyed the matcha latte with the prominent flavor of matcha. They definitely didn't cheap out on the flavor. The pearls are what I think is the BEST part of this BBT location. They are flavourful with the syrup they boil the pearls in, AND they are soft. The pearls tasted so fresh, it made my tastebuds sing. The price is standard. Costing at around $5-6.50. It mainly depends on what you get. The people at this kiosk are SO SWEET. I was joking around about finding an aesthetically pleasing drink, but they actually genuinely cared about my foodie gram game. They made the matcha Latte with a shot of espresso to create a really nice gradient effect, which they DID NOT have to but did. I applaud their kindness! Overall, 10/10 would recommend this place. The service is so sweet and the flavor combinations with the BEST pearls are what makes this place so great. I love Presotea!

    Earl Grey Trio Bubble Tea

A newly opened bubble tea store in the heart of Kingsway mall. The Earl Grey Trio bubble tea with pearls, grass jelly and pudding was easy to see why it is their number one seller. The earl grey tea was not heavily steeped/brewed but still had enough flavour with a subtle notes of bergamot. They do give you the sugar options of: Regular, Less, Half, Quarter, with temperature options of: Regular Ice, Less Ice, No Ice, Warm and Hot. I don't usually order pudding or grass jelly but it was smooth and slightly sweet and with quarter sugar the drink was more than sweet enough. Even with all the new bubble tea cafes that Edmonton has to offer now, this cafe has put their own unique touch on an ever increasingly popular drink.

So happy that Presotea is finally in YEG! I've been going to their Calgary location every time I visit and now I am glad I don't have to wait weeks for a taro cloud drink or the panda pearls The location is very chic as it is a standalone space right by the parkade entrance. The staff is welcoming and the there has always been a short line both the times I visited. It does move very quickly though. They serve all the classic varieties of teas with or with any dairy or topping additions. I decided to order a classic drink and a specialty drink to test them. For my classic drink I ordered the Jasmine green milk tea with panda pearls, as this is my standard order. I like that they serve panda pearls which is a 1:1 mix of the brown and white tapioca pearls. I chose 50% sugar and regular ice. As soon as I saw the drink I knew I'd made a mistake by order regular ice as nearly a third of the cup was ice! But other than that the jasmine green tea flavour was excellent and there was just the right amount of milk. My favourite though are their pearls, they are not too sweet or chewy. I am not sure what the differences in the brown or white pearls are but they taste very unique and I particularly love the white (less chewier) ones. For the speciality drink I ordered their Okinawa brown sugar milk tea. I was half expecting this to be similar to the brown sugar latte but it was quite different. The brown sugar and milk tea were already blended together. The taste is a wonderful mix of roasted tea and brown sugar that is neutralized by the milk. I was hoping to order this as 50% sugar as well, but they advised me not to as it would compromise the taste, I am glad I listened! I did get less ice in this so that made it better as well. TL; DR Excellent top quality tea, get with less ice and panda pearls.

We've got our reusable cups and metal straws and can't have our boba without basil seeds anymore! The absolute best boba in the city!

But from what I ordered recently, I was pretty satisfied and finished up my drink quickly. I ordered the Earl Grey Milk Tea with boba, 25% sweetness and 25% ice. The sweetness level was exactly what I liked in a boba drink. The boba pearls were nice and chewy. I didn't realize that I could get 3 toppings for 99 cents altogether, so next time I would get pudding too. Last time I got the Mango Sago drink at another location and it was just too sweet for me. I should've known because I couldn't adjust the sweetness and drinks tend to be too sweet for me in general. However the Earl Grey Milk Tea was such a great option for me. My boyfriend got the Taro Pudding Milk Tea. It was delicious. He couldn't adjust the sweetness, but I didn't think it was too sweet to enjoy. The taro pudding was delicious. There wasn't much space to sit inside. There was a large group at a seated in the middle, but we managed to get a table to ourselves at the very end. Inside the shop, they only have three tables. Service was quick, wait time wasn't too bad. There is a bathroom inside but it ended up being out of service when we went. Overall, I liked my drink. The menu is pretty extensive and there's a bunch of options to choose from.

I had been eagerly anticipating Tiger Sugar's opening ever since I saw the signage start going up…read more I've had their drinks before outside Canada and knew they stand out compared to other tea options in Edmonton. They officially opened last week and I stopped by at my first opportunity. The space is fair small with just a few tables for those who want to eat in. Right now it is still decorated with tiger balloons for their grand opening. I ordered the strawberry mochi drink with oat milk and the staff member was kind enough to confirm that while they could do this drink with oat, it would still contain milk ingredients. While that isn't an issue for me, just a preference, I was happy that she checked to be safe. This drink might possibly be the prettiest tea I've ever had. It is full of colourful toppings and the cup was streaked with strawberry (their signature "tiger stripes"). After giving it a good shake, I took my tea to-go. My only very minor complaint is that their straws are very flimsy and I wasn't able to puncture the seal with it.

As a result, I was very excited to see that a new bubble tea shop was opening, right on 97 street in the heart of Chinatown no less. The Bubble Tea Café sells a variety of bubble drinks, coffees, milkshakes, and slushes. A limited menu of Asian meals and snacks is also available. The price for a bubble tea is slightly lower than I have experienced in other places. My taro bubble tea tasted exactly as I wanted - sweet and milky. On another visit, I had a chocolate milkshake. The serving size was slightly smaller than I expected, but again, it was very rich. There are a few tables in the café, and service is very friendly. If you find yourself strolling down Chinatown and crave a refreshing drink (and there are a few hot drinks available that should be perfect for our coming cold weather), definitely stop into The Bubble Tea Café.

The bubble teas were great and reasonably priced, $3~3.50, though they are smaller than other bubble tea places. I also found that there were some ice chunks on the bottom that prevented you from sucking up the last bit of juice. A minor inconvenience. It's a very small place, 6 or 7 tables, but it looks like a great place for a quick lunch or dinner. It was kind of neat to watch the Hong Kong shows on the TV. Would definitely be back again to try the food. I really liked it here, giving it 3.5 stars.
