I'm really fond of Gong Cha! I've found my favorite menu item, which is caffeine free and delicious: the lemon wintermelon tea with basil seeds. It's so delicious. This time I got it with star jellies which are so cute and tasty. This location is small but not tiny, and we got our drinks relatively quickly. They have a touch screen ordering system that we used and it was fun to browse through the menu. My only critiques are that drinks are relatively pricey ($7 for a medium) and the trash can is right by the screen which people order at so it is often blocked! No big deal though. This gongcha has a great assortment of drinks and also is one of the few locations located in Brooklyn. When buying boba, I always tend to get less sugar (30%) but I feel like some shops never listen and my drink ends up being too sweet. At this gongcha, I always feel like my drink's sweetness level is perfect! The only complaint I have is that I told them less ice in my drink the other day, and they literally gave me close to no ice. My drink was not very cold at all. A tip is that gongcha actually has a rewards program where if you spend up to a certain amount, you get $5 credit! I believe you can also get a free drink on your birthday if you sign up as well. At checkout, you'd just enter your number. Overall, this gongcha has super great drinks. Their boba consistency is also quite good! A medium pearl milk tea after tax is $5.44. I consider myself a competent chef, and have been whipping up some competent meals in my quarantine kitchen. But in my limited boba making experience, these experiments often go awry, with the outside of each boba ball dissolving before the inside of each can cook through. So I've long left it to the experts. With no boba cafes open within walking distance of my Brooklyn apartment, I turned to the delivery platforms, which I've been using sparingly. Gong Cha in Midwood would deliver two large bobas to me for a whopping $23--when you add on all the fees it really adds up-- but the joy these drinks would bring me was worth it, so I bit the bullet. The great thing about this boba chain is that you can customize the sweetness and amount of ice you can have in your drink, and they have a nice variety of toppings you can add to aside from boba. These can include anything from aloe vera to cheese foam to egg pudding. I go with less ice so I can have more drink, boba everytime, and 70% sweetness. Both brown sugar and taro milk teas tasted fresh and were an absolute delight. Though I'd make purchasing $23 teas a rare indulgence, it's nice to have the option of having boba delivered to my door. Is it sad to say this was the highlight of my week? A sign of the times. read more

I love bubble tea and was so glad when they added this location. They have a nice simple variety of flavors, kind of which they experimented more with other flavors but you can always count on them for some great fruity teas and milk teas. I normally go in and get whatever new flavor they have or a flavor i havent got from their before. The staff is nice and quick when assisting me. They are always down to recommend flavors if i am unsure of what to get. The establishment is also kept so clean thought you can only go in order and leave. Can't wait to return. read more

Finally, there's bubble tea in the neighborhood!! For their grand opening, they offered BOGO for their top 10 drinks. I got the strawberry milk tea with strawberry boba (as recommended by the friendly cashier), classic pearl milk tea for free (BOGO deal), and their milk green tea with pudding. The workers were extremely patient despite the amount of people waiting and even took their time to ask specifically for percentage of sugar and ice. My drinks were delicious!! I always find myself hitting this place up after a target run. It's also located next to a Marshall so when I'm done shopping, I treat myself to a lemon aiyu with white pearls, less ice and regular sugar. It's one of my favorites and so refreshing. They have an extensive menu with cold and hot options. As well as seasonal drinks. This shop in particular is very clean, friendly staff and the service is great. I usually come in here expecting a long wait but today, service was especially lacking. I ordered three drinks. I see something that looked like my drink but another guest was taking it so I asked the cashier if it was mine. She looked at me with a blank stare as the other people left. Okay, so maybe it may not have been mine? I don't know what other people order. When my my drinks start coming out, one was made the wrong size and then the other drink was completely wrong... because that was the one that went out the door. The cashier realized what happened and mumbled she didn't know. If she didn't know, she could've found out, not be passive about the whole thing and have no follow-through. Do the staff even know what they're doing here? Ok, so I'm delivering via Uber Eats to make ends meet on a cold 34 degree day and my escooter ran low on battery after delivering, so I figured to get a drink. I ordered a winter melon milk tea, considering Gong Cha is one of my more favorable franchises and I just so happen to be in the area. The first thing that raised my suspicion was he asked me "how sweet do you want it?" "I thought winter melon is a premade syrup so you can't control the sweetness," I informed him. "That's true. So you want it regular sweet?," He asked. "Yeah sure" So that's already red flag 1. How does a trained employee not know his own menu/drinks after I literally just confirmed with him that the sweetness can't be adjusted? What if someone was diabetic and can't take that much sugar? The drink came really fast so props to that. But as soon as I walked out and took a sip something was really wrong. Red flag #2. I took a bigger gulp and to confirm it, and there was a striking problem. The drink wasnt even sweet, and there was no winter melon taste at all. Winter melon is literally a condensed syrup made by boiling brown sugar into a pot of winter melon, and AFAIK, you literally add the flavored syrup into the drink. It's simple. I looked to confirm the sticker on the side and sure enough it wrote WINTER MELON MT. So did someone not read? I was the only customer in the store at the time. I could've paid for a $4 handcrafted drink from starbucks down the street and they wouldn't even mess up like this - this is a ~$5 drink after taxes!! . The tea flavor was there, but it ended up half full in the trash can down the block bc it was hard to consume - it literally tasted worse than Vivi's powdered milk tea drinks. Maybe this was a one time off order and I get that mistakes happen, but this is simply unacceptable for the brand. The decor was nice but the quality, service, and experience was terrible. read more

My favorite spot in this neighborhood. They doesn't have a large variety as some other larger chains, but they have all of the generic flavors and some! Amazing teas that include passion fruit, mango and watermelon. Large variety of different bubbles and jellies. Don't be boring and don't stick to regular boba bubbles that everyone gets! At least try their crunchy white pearls! My flavors of the week is oolong lychee tea with white pearls! Perfect when it's cold as this weeks and perfect during hot summer days! Probably one of the only if not the only bubble tea place in the Kings Highway area. If you are looking for other bubble tea places, you would have to walk down 10 minutes towards Avenue U. Overall, I think the bubble tea here is pretty good, but it is on the more expensive side. There is also no space to dine in which is good for social distancing purposes but the store is also pretty small in general. Perfect for ordering and getting your food in and out quickly. I got the Earl Gray milk tea, and I would recommend this as well as Brown Sugar milk tea and Pearl milk tea. They do offer options for lowering sugar and ice which is good. I feel like the quality is a bit better than the KFT and Vivis in Avenue U, but this is my subjective opinion. Overall, would recommend if you are craving bubble tea and you are around the area. read more

This location is small, with limited seating on bar stools by the windows. Cleanliness merits an A+ and service was speedy. They had a poster advertising their matcha line, so I ordered a medium matcha strawberry tea with strawberry bubbles. The flavors were magical together, but my drink was a little too sweet for my liking. I would recommend ordering with 50% sugar instead.
