I do not understand why, or better yet how they hire these individuals. I asked her one simple question, do you accept Blue Shield Blue Cross Insurance, she says "I do not know please hold.....Okay now what was your question...(I tell her again)" she then says "you must call your insurance carrier and ask them first" So your telling me you do not know what kind of insurance your office accepts, get out of here. So I avoid the insurance question and ask her how much is the office visit, she says "Its $85 to $435" That is a huge gap. Unfortunately at this point I was very annoyed by her, especially the tone of voice and speed at which she was talking, its like she is jogging and wants to say as many words as possible like she is in some kind of marathon.

The moment he walked into the exam room. he instructed his assistant to grab my diagnosis report from the printer- before he had even spoken to me or examined my knees. There was no proper physical assessment performed Instead of listening to my concerns or giving me an opportunity to ask questions, he simply rattled off a memorized monologue telling me I was fine and iust needed physical therapy. A patient seeking a second opinion deserves a specialist who takes the time to actually evaluate them. I had a really disappointing experience with this office today. I scheduled an appointment through…read morethe Privia app because I am already a patient within the Privia network. The app only allowed me to choose a follow up appointment, this was in response to test results from my primary care provider. If the system wasn't supposed to let me do that, that's an issue on their end, not mine. I drove over 50 minutes to this appointment, only to get a call in the parking lot telling me they didn't know how I was able to schedule and that I shouldn't have made the appointment the way I did. Instead of listening or troubleshooting, the front desk staff kept arguing with me and insisting I booked it wrong even after I explained that their own app allowed it. It was frustrating and honestly felt very dismissive. This was especially disappointing because I was referred here by my primary care provider, so I came in expecting a smooth and professional experience. On top of that, I had been waiting for some time. someone from the office was supposed to call me to schedule in the first place, and no one ever did. When I called myself, I was told I would get a callback...which never happened. At that point, I decided it was better to leave and find another office. The front desk is often a reflection of the professionalism and care within the rest of the practice, and based on this, I didn't feel confident moving forward. A healthcare office should be understanding, solutions oriented and respectful of patients' time, especially when the patient has driven nearly an hour to get there. Unfortunately, that was not my experience here. I will be finding another provider in the area with better communication and a more patient centered front desk.

I met with Dr Zahalsky as part of his Direct Care patient experience. He has chosen to contract…read morewith SignatureMD for a portion of his primary care practice. For younger patients, he told me that he is still accepting insurance. They way it works for direct care, is that for Medicare patients you pay SignatureMD $1800 per year. Due to the crazy rules of Medicare you can't give him the money. They do. He also will bill your insurance-Medicare and secondary. With the direct care agreement, he will call you and/or text you the very same day. With the money conversation out of the way (isn't it sad that medical care is first about money, then also about care), I think that Dr. Zahalsky does a very good job. FIrst of all, I think he's smart and thinks things through. Second, he genuinely cares. Next, he will make sure that if you were to need to see a high quality specialist, he'll make sure that you obtain an appointment. There is not much more I can ask. The medical care system is broken. Everyone recognizes this. Everybody feels like a insignificant cog in a money system. Doctors and nurses all seem to be burned out. I chose to spend some money so that Dr. Z can afford to spend some time with me-I had a full one hour appointment. I was able to ask each and every one of my questions and have them answered. Paying $1800/yr is not something that everyone can afford. I know that. But if you can pony up the dough, I think it's worth it.

He ranted about "protein supplements" without any detail on the supplements or even about when I use them, which I rarely was at that point. It's possible that the high blood pressure was due to dining out about 20 times a week--I am on Yelp, after all. He didn't even ask, or let me explain my poor eating habits. I solved the issue myself by watching my sodium intake and eating more fruits and vegetable I won't hold it against him that the two specialists he recommended were not helpful. I should have done my own research.
