Been their customer for 3 years now…read more Inova Primary Care at Mark Center is excellent! The staff are professional, friendly, and make you feel cared for from the moment you walk in. The doctors take the time to listen and provide thorough explanations, which I really appreciate. The facility is clean and well-organized, making appointments smooth and stress-free. Sheema Chohan is my favorite.

I really don't know what's going on with Inova, especially their Mark Center location. It has been…read moresteadily going downhill in terms of quality and patient care. I can now see why my previous internist chose to not be part of this group any longer! The front staff is obnoxiously loud, extremely unprofessional, and more focused on socializing rather than giving accurate information/wait times for currently waiting patients. If you choose to continue coming here, I highly recommend in bringing earplugs, because you'll end up with a total migraine from the shrilling raucous. The phlebotomist is super lazy and inefficient, and, I kid you not, I have waited over 2+ hours to just get blood drawn. The last straw was when I was told there was no queue when I directly asked one of the receptionists what the estimated time of a wait was; I waited 20 minutes with no updates, and, when I finally went up to ask what the ETA was for the phlebotomist, the receptionist had the nerve to tell me that he wasn't seeing anyone currently, and it would be another 30+ minute wait. The communication here is wack. It's clear that the staff here has absolute no respect or consideration for patients' time nor any ounce of professionalism. +wack communication skills from front staff +lazy phlebotomist +horrific wait times

I was first introduced to Dr. Gardner about 9 years ago by my then BF (who had him as a Dr for at…read moreleast an additional 5 or so years). That BF and I have since parted ways, but not me and Dr. Gardner. He's a keeper! He is awesome! He is thorough, chipper, friendly and spends gobs of time with you explaining everything. He's dragged in medical books to show me illustrations and drawn things out so I have a visual when applicable. He also has this awesome Palm Pilot-esque device that he carries that holds a wealth of information about prescriptions and what brand is best covered by your insurance, what it interacts with and side effects- very handy! He also consistently checks me on my posture - I'm a big time sloucher. On the rare occasion that Dr. Gardner is away or I am needing a last minute appt and he's booked, I've also been to Dr. Tokarz who took a lot of time asking me questions about myself trying to get to know me and Ly-Lan Bergeron, a physician's assistant who also asks a lot of questions and is really caring. They used to have some awful people that worked up front, but thankfully all of them have been replaced and the new staff is GREAT! Their office is located directly off of 395 and there is a garage with validated parking.

One huge plus is that they always seem able to squeeze you in without a month's long wait to see your preferred provider. Another is that they're very convenient via the Metro. The 7B bus from the Pentagon has a stop very near to their office. I've seen Jessica Ware, the PA and she's really great. I saw her in August '09 to quit smoking and as of March 11, 2010 I'm 6 months cigarette free. Yay!

While I initially liked the location and convenience of this practice, my experience in recent…read moreyears have plummeted. They are good only for taking vitals and basic prescriptions. In particular, my practitioner missed a hematoma on my leg and necrotic tissue, which then required me to go to an emergency room in another state who then successfully diagnosed what was going on and rebuilt the tissue in my leg over the course of months. The practitioners will ask you annually if you're experiencing feels of depression, and then will do absolutely nothing about it even if you ask for help. In fact, in my last interaction, I said why do you ask this? And was told by Ms. Bowman so that she could follow up. When I then said, and do you ever follow up, she said, "no.". The final straw was a prescription I needed reauthorization for, since I had moved to another insurance. My first request went unanswered for three weeks. When I followed up, the next message was ignored for another two weeks. When I got a call from the office, I asked what that appeal included, and they wouldn't tell me, and just insisted "it included everything." In a conversation with Ms. Bowman, it was clear my entire medical history was NOT included in the insurance authorization. As I said, the medical care has plummeted in recent year, and I can no longer recommend this practice. Whether they are overloaded or what, I can't say, but you will not receive good care here.

I was pleasantly surprised to be offered an appointment at the time of my choosing the next day. I don't know whether there has been a change in staff or a change in attitude, but all the reviews about bad front desk staff are completely contrary to my experience - the staff is friendly and made me feel welcome and at ease. Every time I have called the office they have attempted to work with my busy schedule, rather than the other way around. The appointments have not felt rushed and I have never sat through an extended delay. The nurses are very friendly and skilled. The doctors take their time to explain everything, rather than just throwing pills at the problem. I have recommended this office to colleagues and friends.

It's only happened twice when I've been in there and both times I was asked, clearly and directly, if I had any problem with the student coming in to sit in. Both times I was fine and one of the times the student had a couple of questions, other time they just watched. No biggie. In some way you feel pretty good about it, they must be decent if they have students wanting to come in and I'm all for education.
