I had found this healthcare provider recommendation through Reddit. I had a change in my overall health and I needed to be seen. They had availability and not months. It was a thorough exam and bloodwork. The doctor & her NP was easy to talk to and share my concerns and discuss these changes. They are worth the drive. It's only been one visit. I am extremely disappointed with this medical office's scheduling policy. I was informed that I would be charged a $100 fee to reschedule my appointment, even though I have an unexpected and very important emergency that requires my immediate attention today. Instead of being able to focus on what is happening in my personal life, I found myself stressed about avoiding a financial penalty. The policy made me feel pressured to come into my appointment despite my circumstances, which felt more like bullying than patient care. I understand that medical practices need cancellation policies, but there should also be room for compassion and reasonable discretion when patients are dealing with genuine emergencies. Healthcare should prioritize patients, not make them feel trapped between handling an emergency and avoiding a hefty fee. I hope this office reconsiders how it handles situations like these and treats patients with more understanding and empathy. read more

i have been going to this practice for more than twenty yrs and overall been pleased with the care. Recently I am DISAPPOINTED. Medical practice has changed a lot in 20 yrs and cn internal medicine has in my experience outgrown me. From one location to many the corporate medical mentality and admistration is disappointing. I recently had one referral to a speciality clinic, provided extensive documentation and requested a referall with attachments. not one document was attached, so I have to go dance with gettting the documentation to the clinic instead of a single on time fully completion package. I asked for rx which required special process due to a change in insurance coverage. Instead of following the request the admin staff did not submit for pre approval as requested and when i ask the pharmacy to go back to them, the admin called and asked if the pharmacy had initiated the approval process which does not start with the pharmacy. These two things are very important to my health. Im sad and disappointed b/c I feel like Im not a small cog in a big corporate medical practice where I have to chase down small details which were previously done well. That personal touch to me, is gone. And when i ws in the hospital the PCP covering the practice wasnt readily available when the hosptial staff after a rapid response couldnt reach any dr. read more

I use to love CN internal medicine but over the past year their billing practices have been extremely shady. When I went in for an annual physical and to discuss my anxiety medicine they charged me for two types of appointments, and now they charge a regular patient visit for a virtual 5 minute follow up which they never did before (and had me sitting in the virtual waiting room for over 30 minutes). They push you to schedule frequent follow-ups without saying they will bill you. I have been a patient here since 2015 and will be looking for a new primary physician - sad. read more

While I initially liked the location and convenience of this practice, my experience in recent years have plummeted. They are good only for taking vitals and basic prescriptions. In particular, my practitioner missed a hematoma on my leg and necrotic tissue, which then required me to go to an emergency room in another state who then successfully diagnosed what was going on and rebuilt the tissue in my leg over the course of months. The practitioners will ask you annually if you're experiencing feels of depression, and then will do absolutely nothing about it even if you ask for help. In fact, in my last interaction, I said why do you ask this? And was told by Ms. Bowman so that she could follow up. When I then said, and do you ever follow up, she said, "no.". The final straw was a prescription I needed reauthorization for, since I had moved to another insurance. My first request went unanswered for three weeks. When I followed up, the next message was ignored for another two weeks. When I got a call from the office, I asked what that appeal included, and they wouldn't tell me, and just insisted "it included everything." In a conversation with Ms. Bowman, it was clear my entire medical history was NOT included in the insurance authorization. As I said, the medical care has plummeted in recent year, and I can no longer recommend this practice. Whether they are overloaded or what, I can't say, but you will not receive good care here. read more

This morning I had an appointment with a new physician within CN Internal Medicine, Dr. Umer Esbhani, MD. As I entered the office, as usual I was greeted with a friendly, "good morning, how can I help you?" I gave my name and time of appointment. I was asked to be seated. My appoinemtn was for 8:30 a.m. I was called and taken to an exam room at about 8:15 a.m. My vitals were taken and I was told the doctor will be in "shortly." In just a few minures, Dr. Esbhani came in and introduced himself to me. He asked me what brought me in? I told him of my symtons, when they started and what I had been doing to treat them. He was very patient with my comments. AND very patinet with me in general. He answered all of my questions and made sure I understood his answers. He gave me some physical test. He explained the reasons for doing everything he asked me to do. I felt his examination was very thorough. Dr. Esbhani is a good listner. At no time did I feel rushed. l will not hesitate to make another appointment with Dr.Esbhani. Based on my experience with Dr. Esbhani, I feel he is well on his way to becoming a very fine physician. read more

I have seen two different doctors now (Ms.Sabahat Nawab and Ms.Eunja Hernandez ) This past month has been horrifying for me going thru an accident and experiencing pains in my lower abdomen frequently which made me go to the ER in April. As I turned to new PCM's since Ms.Saleeby left the practice. I have had a very hard time even getting a test done. I have experienced more recently that I did a urine and swab test, for Ms.Hernandez to tell me my results without them being uploaded anywhere. Now, I know no matter where I go, my results are emailed to me by the exact lab that it is sent to. I've asked multiple times where my test is and was not given it at all. Before that I had an in person visit with Ms.Hernandez and she assumed I was eating all these unhealthy things without even asking me first. Told me I was basically fat and need to lose weight and didn't even look at me but literally just my BMI which has been proven to be wrong for colored people. Ms.Nawab refused the swab test and urine test and told me to go to OBGYN for the test which is not required anywhere. Knowing that I can get the test done and take my results to OBGYN. I have had personal things going on as I stated in the beginning and did not expect to have hardships with getting tests done so I can make sure my body is fine. I am very disappointed in the manner the doctors have not listened to me instead of thinking they already know what's best for me. I would know what's best for my body since I've been in it for over a decade. I will give an update once I see another doctor at the same practice but chances are getting slim. read more

I was highly impressed with Franco Porto he took approximately an hour with me discussing my concerns and assuring I received the care I needed. I highly recommend Franko to anyone. read more

They have a nurse "after hours" service which prompts you to leave a message. It says "this mailbox is full, goodbye"

I moved to the area in 2021 and randomly found CN Internal Medicine. I'm so glad I did. My doctor is Dr. Emily and she is fantastic. I have had nothing but good experiences here. Thanks, CN Internal Medicine! read more

My favorite care-giver is also my PCP, Emily Brauninger, whom I affectionately call Dr. Emily! If you've never had an NP as your PCP, she's the one; nurse practitioners rule :). Caring, dedicated, and thorough in her evaluation, she's also a great listener. As long as I'm living in the DMV, she'll continue to be my most excellent health care provider/professional. If she's still taking patients, you must ask to be her patient. Absolutely fabulous!!! read more

I've been a patient for 10 years. That should say something! The practice is run extremely well. I especially appreciate the careful scheduling of appointments. I've never had to wait more than a few minutes. The physicians spend time and listen - and remember. I've never felt rushed. Explanations are clear and alternatives discussed when appropriate. Office and support staff are friendly and professional. The new office on Dawes Ave. is spacious with abundant parking at the front door. The on-site lab is another plus. read more

Dr Nawab is all right as long as you've got a long life to live. She is friendly and personable, but if your health is declining and it doesn't look like you'll make it, she just doesn't seem to care. She offered up a variety of diagnoses, which she seemed to pull out of thin air. Getting a hold of her/following up with her is very difficult. The pharmacy, which needed approval for certain meds, had a really tough time reaching her and getting said approval. Our experience with some of the NPs was decent and they took the time to explain things to us in detail. read more

My husband an I went into CN Internal Medicine for wellness checkups, which are 100% covered by our insurance. This was during winter, and on our forms we wrote that we take a standard 2000IU vitamin D supplement during the winter. Without consulting us about whether we had any history of vitamin D deficiency, they ordered a $41.77 vitamin D test for each of us, which was medically unnecessary and for which we had to pay out of pocket. If you go there, demand to know every test that's being ordered, whether it's medically necessary and whether it's covered by the diagnostic code of the visit. If they can't provide evidence of that, refuse to authorize the test. read more

Was on the hunt for a new primary care doctor and was given the recommendation of CN Internal Medicine and referred to FNP Kim Miller. Instantly felt at ease and welcomed by the atomosphere and staff. Kim was very knowledgeable and a breeze to work with. If you are in need of a warm, welcoming, and truly caring staff look no futher than CN Internal Medicine and be sure to ask for Kim! read more

CN Internal medicine recently moved to a new office on Dawes Avenue, and it is lovely. Very clean, parking basically at their front door. They no longer have LabCorp but have a lab that accepts most insurances. Dr. Nawab is a kind and friendly person. She seems like a good doctor, although it is best to come with some questions to help her concentrate on your case as otherwise she can be a bit breezy in her exam. Her husband, Dr. Chotani, is also a very good doctor but not as friendly. I would give the place top marks but there seems to be too much turnover in the NP/PA positions so that it is difficult to establish a relationship with these folks who you might have to see. I do like that Dr. Nawab has good connections with specialists and will communicate with them about your case. read more

Completely unprofessional. Nurse didnt feel like coming in on a saturday so all appiontmenrs were canceled

My appointment for my yearly physical check up was at 8:30am . I got an automated call saying that I have to arrive 15 minutes early, so I got there 8:15am. For my surprise, the door is closed ,no one was there, so I had to wait outside for them to come in. I addressed the problem to the person who came to open the door "receptionist" but the person doesn't even dare to say sorry, instead in an unprofessional manner, she acknowledged that they know the problem and they are not doing anything about it .In my understanding this is not an answer that a patient expect , the office has to come up with a solution and solve the problem . Even though, my appointment is for yearly physical check up, the same person told me that I won't be able to do so. Her reasoning was based on a blame towards her colleague who gave me the appointment.( I was not the one who gave you the appointment so I don't know).I left the office swearing that I will never go back again. From the review I saw Dr Chobatani is a good doctor but the first impression you get from the office make you lose your confidence. It was a very bad Doctor office experience I encountered in my entire life. read more

I was new to the are and hadn't found a primary care doctor yet. A quick google search and a convenient location landed me at CN internal medicine. I was able to able to make an appointment within my requested week and I saw their FNP Kimberly Miller. Location is very easy to get too, (right off 395) and parking was easy starting my appointment off smoothly. I was greeted by very friendly staff and was seen on time. Kim was super easy to talk to and made me feel very comfortable. She did a head to toe assessment and addressed my questions and concerns. She picked up that I may have a thyroid issue ( other doctors never even bothered to test), and because of her I soon after was diagnosed and treated ! She helped refer me to an endocrine specialist and has gone out of her way to see how that appointment went. I am now feeling so much better ! I have already recommended Kim to a friend ! read more
