I am a newbie to disc golf, and this was the first disc golf course I tried. Since then though, I have tried out a local course and feel comfortable giving this two thumbs up. Disc golf is sort of like real golf, except you play with frisbee discs, and try to get them in baskets or hit poles, instead of into a hole in the ground. This course is located in the thick of the woods, with 27 holes divided into three 9-hole courses. At the end of each nine you end up at the start again, so you can pick and choose which ones you want to try. Over two days I did all 27 holes and it was super fun! The course is free and unsupervised, with a couple of picnic benches, a couple of outhouses (quite clean) and a tap for water. You have to bring your own discs, and some are for sale in a nearby general store. The trees are dense, and there is a lot of climbing around rocks and roots, especially if you fling your disc in an undesired location. Most times you can't see the basket, which adds to the fun. I did find the paths well maintained, and didn't have too much of a problem with my footing, even when it was raining. When traveling on the ferry over to the island I saw a few people with serious collections of discs, so I think this is quite the destination course. As a beginner, it was fun to spend time outdoors with friends, and for more experienced players there are lots of challenging holes. read more
